I found as I got older and girthier, chain tensioners became mandatory. My frame has built in tensioners, and I have to rhn half link chains cause if I put power into pedaling, I snap regular chains.
Clear pads stop hard but are loud AF. No getting around it. I scooped up a 24" Downtown used for $80 recently. Needed a chain, grips and I hate that seat.
@@thebikehippie6562 Seller didnt' feel like doing any upkeep on it before selling. Front tube hanging out of the tire, dirt everywhere, chain clearly rusted solid. I figured it was worth taking a look at that price. Realized in about 5 seconds that everything wrong with it could be fixed in about a half hour. I'm sure I'll profit if I sell it.
Hows the haro going now guys? Im thinking about getting one tomorrow for my first bmx bike. Planning on cruisin more than doing tricks, im 5"6, thinking it'll be perfect
@Dopamine Honestly, he's having nothing but issues.. The headset is loose,. It won't tighten. The front wheel is making funny noises. I think it's the spokes.. And the hub also seems to be skipping.. I've recommended that he bring it to the bike shop👍
@thebikehippie6562 thanks for letting me know man. I will take your advice and pass on it. However i will go sit on it to determine whether i would prefer a 24" or 26" haha. Cheers dude!
Hey Dopamine, you get a bike yet? I've noticed they use the same gearing for the 20, 24 and 26" Downtowns. I had a 20" last summer and a 24" this one, it would be a bit more of a bear to push the 26" version. I like the 24" while riding as a cruiser, but a long seat post and a nice fat cushy seat can make even 20" ones cruise pretty well, especially for someone your size. My current 20" lineup is a 2018 WTP Crysis and a 2021 Mongoose L100. Both were bought used, both are full chromoly bikes and both have generally nicer parts than the Downtown, but I don't find mine to be nearly as troublesome as Hippie's friend. For a first BMX, go 20", IMO.

@Dopamine One built up at the bike shop probably won't have the same issues.. I'm not the best bike mechanic around🤣
@Dopamine There's only one correct answer and that's a 20" wheel for a bmx 👍👍
