I'm pretty sure Fr. Calloway isn't the only normal average guy who happened to be converted through direct experience of God or supernatural graces - you don't have to be some experienced mystic to be given that, and I've heard several similar testimonies from several other average Catholics as well. Thank God for the grace shown, and for Fr. Don!
AMEN .. When you live some time( in )the side of evil ,,you automatically are aware of the enemy .... That's what eventually happened to me once I peered in more than the 1st layer of my BEAUTIFUL CATHOLIC FAITH ,,which I am grateful for
@@robertdipaula1623 Glory to God! Glad He brought you out of the darkness! If you don't mind, could you go into a bit more detail about your conversion story? It sounds interesting, though if you don't feel like writing it down on the internet publically then that's fine either way.
I had a very similar mystical experience at Mass, I was an atheist with no knowledge of Catholic teaching and had no idea what was happening at Mass. But I sat through it and I knew that something happened at some point and everyone in the room had changed (all those who has received which was probably everyone except me). It was a Mass with about 50 people during a prayer group at a Catholic Lay Community and was very prayerful. I didn't understand what had happened, I realise now I was having an encounter with the Holy Spirit but at the time I had no words to describe how I felt but I knew I had to keep coming and figure it out.
That was so funny, hilarious. So fun to watch. That part when it was God the priest raised at consecration touch me so hard, tears welled up around my eyes. Can't tire hearing Fr. Don's conversion story. Amazing, love this video. More please.
Our Lady of Victory Chapel NavSta Norfolk !!! My ship was tied up there in the 70's and I used to walk to the chapel . Sunday Morning Mass there was a guy (maybe about mid 30's+) and he was blind. He was the singer and what a voice !! If anyone (far shot) remembers this guy or who he was i'd love to know. Thank you Fr Calloway MIC for that memory!!
Fr Don, I've heard your conversion story before, shared it, been inspired many times, finished the Consecration to St Joseph, shared that book of yours, & hearing this, in this way, 😆🤣, needed the lol, thank you Matt & Fr Don for sharing your lives & love of God daily!!!!🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
What a wonderful story. My first adult and voluntary trip to a church was different. I knew that I had to get to a church. I felt pulled. I had no idea what would happen when I got there, or even if I was going to stay. I opened the door, and there was a man, older and bigger than me, with unkempt snowy white hair and a long white beard. If you asked a 5 year old to draw Moses, he is what they would have drawn. What I found was that he was a very gentle man, and very kind. Everything that the first human you meet inside the door of a church should be.

The priest telling him to sit in the back is directly against James. I tried not to comment, but that was a little much. I had a personal experience with The Holy Trinity on Mushrooms after around 15 viles of LSD in a year and I was completely fried and He changed my life in one night. I was a die hard Protestant once saved always saved for 5 years. Around October of 2023 after stumbling on Against Heresies by St. Iranaeus (who refuted Gnosticism, which is literally what I was engaging in with these drugs as far as the belief system) I immediately saw that it was not Protestant by any means. Fast forward a few months I’m in RCIA, and I’m gonna get married and serve Jesus and His Church. I can’t recant what I saw that night wether it was on drugs or not. All I know is I now have a deep hope that I will experience Him once again for all of Eternity, and God used psychedelics in order lead a lost sheep back through the Door.
A quick one please Mathew 23v9 Do not call anyone on earth [who guides you spiritually] your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. Can a catholic explain this to me please.
Hello Marcus, Good question! Thank you for asking charitably. I don’t think Scripture includes the “[who guides you spiritually]” part, is that in your translation or did you add it? Either way, the context of Jesus’ speech and the letters of the New Testament show this is not was Jesus meant. For example: In 1 Cor 4, St Paul tells us that we have many instructors in Christ, but not many fathers; he continues that he has begotten us through the gospel. I.e, he is calling himself our spiritual father. He then goes on to talk about his son Timothy, another father analogy. St Johns writings are full of calling the audience his children. There is a place for spiritual fatherhood that participates in / reflects the Fatherhood of Our Father in heaven. Jesus was urging the apostles not to seek titles, power, or authority for their own sake. He didn’t literally mean don’t call anyone father or teacher. It’s worth noting too that this hyperbolic style of speech to make important points is found in the Gospel of Matthew, for example cutting off your arm or plucking out your eye. I’ll direct you to this video by Fr Mike Schmitz, he does a much better job explaining than me: th-cam.com/video/Fe2URpdKFKg/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps - peace and blessings to you brother!
Even the gospel writers referred to Moses and Abraham as the founding fathers, so the terminology of spiritual fathers does apply to certain people. And it isn't a sin to call your biological dad father... So what the other commenter said very much make sense
@@achristfollowingturnbullma8237 Look to the Canticle of Zechariah, when Zechariah is filled with the Holy Spirit and speaks (Luke 1:68-79). Specifically to Luke 1:73, using your preferred translation, the Amplified Bible: “The oath which He swore to Abraham our father”. Zechariah is filled with the Holy Spirit and calls Abraham, a man, our father. Because it’s true! Abraham is our father in the faith. That doesn’t mean we worship Abraham, or that the Holy Spirit disobeyed Jesus’ teaching; it means Abraham has the attributes of a father to us in faith. Further, the verse right before that in the Amplified translation says: “To show mercy [as He promised] to our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant [the promised blessing]” Luke 1:72 This shows we don’t just have one human spiritual father, but many - fathers is used in the plural there.
