  • In this segment, Fr. Gregory unpacks the differences between making judgements (which we do many times a day, everyday) and being judgmental. Judgements can lead to judgementalism, but doesn't have to.

I give money to those that live on the street. But I give them a Divine Mercy leaflet first,l hoping they will buy food. I also talk to them ask there name. They are my brothers and sisters. I get criticized by others saying l am helping them to buy drink.

THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!!!! oh how I wish highschool me knew this. Or even middle school really. This is the kind of discernment and temperance every child on the verge of being a young adult should know. Very valuable

That last bit about reacting to beggars touches a pretty significant issue, and your explanation about our responsibilities to affirm the dignity of the other human being and not just dismiss them presents a challenge. Perhaps considerations for dealing with them would be a good topic for a future video, or perhaps you've already done one and could provide a link. Thank you for this ministry!

Fr. Pine. Thank you for this video. Please discuss this topic and how one should make rational judgments when it involves family. For example: I’ve distanced myself and family from much of my family due to drastic differences in lifestyle choices. For example, one family member who attends mass with their family regularly (in judgment) abuses/uses alcohol and marijuana. This person doesn’t think there is an issue with their choices and has made so clear several times. My choices led to an event recently where I had to defend my choices based on what seems to be rational judgment. It didn’t go over well to say the least.

I think about ppl like that and say well that's why they have the results they do, because we know what pride is. I feel for them because they are blind if they don't see their sin. If they don't take and advice then, they will face the consequences.

I do not give to the poor any longer. I live in Oregon outside Portland and I’m astonished at how much they get for free from the government, churches, and many many non profits, Free cell phones, free clothes, free food boxes, EBT cards, welfare money and free shelter. An interview I saw of a homeless person said he gets 600 for welfare and 200 a month for EBT in San Francisco CA. He said watches Amazon prime, Netflix on his free cell phone. I have a friend who unfortunately is addicted to meth and he has been unemployed for 2 years and has an EBT card that is refilled with $250 a month for zero effort on his part. At this point when a homeless person asks me for money, for the most part, unless they are disabled, I consider it an insult. It’s an activity they engage in because they has nothing else to do so asking for money is like a job for them. I give to the church and that’s it at this point.

This is a better example of this topic. 😁 Thank you. I would say this could be true but there are a lot of ppl that might be in real need so for me I just give $1 or $2 just in case. And just go on with my business. I leave it up to them and their conscience.

@@glopez4919 Could be true?…It is true. Your use of “could” is an incorrect word to use. I addressed that some people that might actually need the help would be the disabled. Other than the disabled, which other people do you think might be in real need of more money which they already received monthly from the government..?

@@chrismaxx8528 thanks for the correction. I don't think that every person asking for money gets from the gvmt. In the Latino community there are a lot of ppl that have a hard time making ends meet and are selling flowers so I buy and give them a lil more just in case. I try to be selective but it's the thought that counts.
