- There was a quite a stink around Manchester Square in Blackpool as pumping wagons were being used at the Inited Utilities sewage treatment works.

I remember that black and white chimney. I recall the windmill on the prom I can also remember that windmill lighting up at the illuminations
I work for drainage 2000 in the North Midlands, I lost my sense of smell when I got covid, helps in my job
Years Ago when we came to Blackpool we used to stop at 16 Tyldesley Road a Mr and Mrs Goff used to keep it wouldn’t recognise that area now with all the new houses being built. Thank you Stephen for your time doing this video x

I used to live on Princess Street when I first moved to Blackpool, and it was so sad to see how that site wasn't being finished when I lived their, but its great to see that site being completed since I moved back to London. Another great video Stephen, Keep up the great work.

yes, I remember the stripy tower, USSR nuclear power station look. Also the illuminated windmill - one of those things that one wished would work, but often didn't.
Talking of... I remember the 'sputnik' an illumination, a spiky ball of neon tubes which were supposed to rotate. For a few years "is the sputnik working" was a common cry - it almost never was.
Evening Stephen, great sunny day today, we were in cleveleys, you'd have thought it was summer, 😂😂. Yeah, I remember the black and white tower and the windmill, often wondered if it was moved or just knocked down. Nice video, cheers mate.
Hi Stephen sewage cleaning stations are very necessary, and without them goodness knows what would happen to all the waste!

Good stuff Stephen - I think that the "pipes of poo" are a good looking feature that do a very important job, so well done Blackpool and I do agree that the new properties at Meerside are a great improvement with their fancy brickwork and look great if you approach Blackpool from this direction as we often do - keep up the great work mate.

blackpool the only place you can have a poo in the morning, the go and have a swim with it in the afternoon lol.
Ewww. Never swimming in the sea again. Northwest is bad for discharging sewage into the sea. Blackpool have a number of sites and discharging on a regular basis. Barrow and Millom got the worst rate. 1.500+ hrs on average pump sawage into the sea last year. would be an interesting thing to look into steve.

When I worked on the railway, contractors would come and empty the cess pits for signalling staff toilets and the like but only at night when no trains were running. I would often be on the night shift when they were doing it and the smell was horrendous. I can only dread to image the smell there on the promenade during the day.😡😡😡

I am currently in Blackpool. Now I'm not saying the visitors are thick but there's only 3 tram routes & nobody can comprehend this. That 1 extra route to North Station has caused brain freeze 😅
At least they don't dump raw sewage into the sea.
Really... you might want to do some looking into it. Raw sawage is pump into the sea on a daily basis around the north-west. 93 times in Blackpool last year over 800+ hours worth.
Barrow has a bad rate. They pumped over 1.500hrs worth of sawage from a number of sawage plants. And people swim in the sea lol

I'm really annoyed the water companies care more about payments to share holders when they are broke, and dump raw sewage into the rivers and sea. Just wait they will be upping bills so we end up paying for improvements 😡.

Will be coming down with the wife from Kilmarnock on Friday to stay at the balmoral which has just merged with the Craig’s y don hotel.
The last time I went to Blackpool the entire time I was there it smelled like an open sewer.
I will not be going back again.
