- There is only one man that gave us the licks that inspired us to “Rock and Roll All Nite,” - Gene Simmons, the legendary rock icon and bassist from KISS. Gibson is proud to “Shout It Out Loud” that we are partnering with him to release the Gene Simmons G2 Thunderbird Bass.
Designed to meet the musical needs of modern bassists, it features the classic Reverse Thunderbird™ body and headstock shape. The G2 Thunderbird™ Bass is voiced with a pair of powerful T-Bird pickups, each with individual Volume controls and paired with a master Tone control. The bound ebony fretboard features pearloid reverse split diamond inlays. A Graph Tech® nut and Hipshot® Mini-Clover tuners keep the tuning rock-solid, while the other end of the strings anchor to a Hipshot Bass Bridge. The back of the headstock features a G2 logo. The Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer finish is paired with Black Chrome hardware and a Mirror Plex truss rod cover and Mirror Plex pickguard with a laser engraved custom Gene Simmons logo. A modern hardshell case is included.

I loved when gene played the ripper or maybe the grabber. Either way stoked to see another offering.
I hope he makes it happen, ripper and grabbers with this "premium" and chromed out asthetics would be quite a sight to see.

That was the only Gibson video I can even remember that had a sense of humour about itself. All the others sound the same. It is even formatted correctly for old school TV sets. Gene has many talents and keeps giving. Great job.
The Grabber would have been a better first release "Presenting The Gibson (cough) money (cough) Grabber Bass!" ;)

this is irrelevant to the video, but i bought a LP Standard 60’s two weeks ago, and it is the best guitar i’ve ever owned. i love it so much. i am a collector (even though i’m 19 i have 12 guitars) and i told my parents that i would give up all of them in a heartbeat for my les paul. best guitar purchase i’ve ever made. You’re absolutely CORRECT! I expect these to retail between $2,500-$5,000. I know that’s a big margin, but so is Gene’s ego and need for $$$$$$$$. I love classic KISS music, but I can’t stand Gene and Paul-genuinely horrible people who treat anyone who’s not them (even each other, sometimes) like absolute disposable garbage.

i'm sure the "wait til you see what's next" line is referring to the $10K one ;)
Gene is all about making money. And in some cases, making things $10k instead of $3k will reduce the number of buyers so much that you end up making less money in total. So Gene is just looking out for his own self-interest here.

The Thunderbird is hands-down the best bass you guys ever put out.
The pickups give a fantastic tone and lots of sustain that makes it great for guys like me who usually play guitar.
