Very informative thank you, last year when I was having gel nails in a salon I noticed I was having lifting on one of my nails, it was on my working hand that I actually thought it was me caused damaged to my nail but every time I had my nails done it was getting worse, I mentioned it to the nail tech no answer got nothing just carried on as if nothing was amiss. So I looked it up and found out myself what it was. It also put me off using with their nail files that’s used on other people just sprayed it with disinfectant . That was when I decided learn to do my my own nails . I found you channel and have been watching ever since. Looking forward to learning so much more from you 😊
It’s terrible how these things happen in professional environments but it’s great that you’re educating yourself and taking matters into your own hands! I have so much more to share definitely watch the videos they will help and trust me the process of attaining and maintaining nail health is very simple just takes patience and consistency 😉🙏🏼🤘🏼
This is helpful. I never thought about gel allergies and never had an issue for the many years I had gel in a salon. But in my DIY research gel allergies seem scarily common. Just want to make sure I do everything possible to prevent allergies.
Love this video, but I’ve experienced something that I can’t find information on anywhere… I developed a gel allergy, but ZERO signs of an acrylic allergy. So I’m unsure what specifically was causing my reaction because it’s definitely not the acrylates that are causing it. I was actually able to use acrylic sets for the past 4 months, changed fully every two weeks to keep everything fresh and ensure nothing could be trapped under any possible lifting, to protect my gel allergy damaged deteriorating paper thin fragile vulnerable nails while that nastiness grew out, kinda like a helmet of protection. I wasn’t treating my nails roughly at all to get best adhesion for those sets, nor using any acidic primers, because longevity wasn’t the point, healing was. So if one popped off, no big deal, I just created another to replace it 🤷🏻♀️ But doing so also served to allow time for my inflamed, red, raw, thickened, dry, cracking proximal nail fold and hyponychium to clam down, heal and rejuvenate back to healthy, soft, supple skin. I’m at the point now that my nails beds are back to their spectacularly healthy length, which was being eaten away and shrunken by the allergy damage creeping underneath my nails. And the nails themselves are thicker and stronger than they’ve been in 6 months, so I no longer need the aid of that acrylic sets to serve as helmet type protection that I’d been using up until like 2 weeks ago. I’m back to short but healthy natural nails, and each have a tiny bit of free edge that I’m certain now won’t bend or peel or break off. And the skin around my nails is healthier than ever. Now I can simply care for my nails, weekly gentle manicures, keeping my body and cuticles well hydrated, and also keeping traditional polish on for that added bit of protection it affords. I cannot wait to see healthy growth in the coming weeks and months of just my natural nails. Because before all of this, when I concentrate on caring for my natural nails they grow long and strong. I should have done that at the start of the pandemic instead of dipping my toes into the world of gel which I swore off because I didn’t trust it. I so wish now that I would have continued listening to my gut instincts and never touched the stuff. But man, I’d really love to know what exactly in Gel products caused my reaction. I do have a long history of skin sensitivity/reactivity so it could honestly be any number of things in the ingredients that caused this reaction for me. So it’s unlikely that I’ll ever know for certain. All I do know is that Gel products are made up of harsh, risky chemicals that could make your life a living nightmare and I won’t be touching it again ever.
I started doing my own nails almost three years ago. But after a year and a half, I had a bad reaction. Undortunately I wasn't in a place when I could take them off, so I endured. After a week or so it passed. I thought it was the new gel, but after trying again with my regular ones I had another reaction. I was very sad, and so I stopped. But I love doing my nails, so I searched and searched. I found a great company, but they ship from Korea and it meant paying double for what I wanted. Then I finally found a company here in Italy that makes hema free products! First time, all good. The second time I made the mistake of using another polish from the same company, and since I used the base and the top coat hema free with it, I think I "contaminated" it? Another reaction. Now after a few months I did a test, no reaction. I did again my nail with all hema free, hope it turns well!
@@rolandixlv I still use the same products. I apply the gel distant to the cuticles, so when it's freshly done it looks like a week passed. I don't really care. The brand is called ESTROSA and they have a small hema free line. The downside is that the top coat (only one option) scratches easily so I just use the base as top coat, and there is no matte top coat. But it's really affordable and ships fast so I still use it. I haven't tried more things because I don't want to risk another reaction and trying products gets expensive on the long run
Stay away from putting any nail product! Let your skin heal keep it dry. And moisturize but I definitely would not recommend using regular lotion. Using something specifically made for the cuticle or sensitive skin is recommended definitely check out my cuticle oil it is amazing and has repairing solutions. Be patient and consistent and caring for your nails and your skin will heal!
You are a very good speaker! Easy to listen to.
Lots of good reminders and some things to watch out for. Looking forward to this continued series on home gel manicures. Thanks!
