Dear B 95 👍👌👏 Yeah. I drive Mercedes for nearly 40 years now and I'm definitely used to car doors that shut like bank safe doors. But I definitely love this Baja swamp rat bug. Especially the frog seats and the engine/muffler sound.

I’m glad to see you’re learning a little bit more about electrical.....When you get done and things get up and run and you get all your problem solved....Go back and take a thin layer of axle grease or bearing grease and smeared on the connections of the frame... If you’re not gonna jump batteries around cover the top post with Grease,,, ,,just to skim keep the acid fumes from making post all shitty ...... today do it on all my vehicles all my equipment going to probably the last 25 years longer than that maybe 30 Learned it from an old wrench on a big project we’re down on the shoreline stringing wire and poles for the high-speed rail back in the late 90s take care junkman do

Jason those Baja Bug conversions look great and are soooo much fun to drive. Sort of what I did with my '59 when it was only 10 years old after bad front accident damage, no Baja kit available here in Australia then, so I made my own "chopper" version, great fun bug...

I had. 69 beetle had to have engine rebuilt every spring. Then had a 73 Thing. Loved both vehicles but had to sell when we moved. Miss those cars. Nice to see someone reviving the VWs

I accidentally transported a mouse around in my 73 for a year. I hadn't looked in the rear cubby for a while and the car was parked for all that time. I discovered him after I got the car running because I went to pull my registration out of the glove box and the mouse had chewed the whole thing into a nest. 😂
It's really nice to see this one still has life left - looks & sounds presentable, & with a good scrubbing, the Rat'll smell presentable too. I'd drive it, esp. w/gas pushing $2.50/gal. in my city.

She used to live not far from the museum.) I think you can appreciate the fact he came up with and or pushed for putting the engines behind the driver. Now it's standard, but back in the day those nitro engines sat right in front of the driver, which he thought was very unsafe... and he was right. I don't know that he invented the idea, but he pushed to get it allowed by the NHRA. Funny how all the rule making bodies of the racing world are killing the sports. Now all the cars in just about every racing field are the same thing. NASCAR is dead because of their bs, hell make em run really stock cars, not purpose built 300K cars with 100K engines still running carbs. They killed prostock in the NHRA, with their silly rules... and lack of TV coverage too. I do recall one door slammer race they showed... the guy in the far lane LITERALLY got his doors blown off, both of em. I bet he never lived that down.
Had a friend back in the 70s had this guy paint a mural on the side of his van and his challenger and then took it to the car wash and as soon as he sprayed the van, the mural blew off. You should probably wait a week or so before you take it to the power washer! I can still see the look on his face as it peeled off with the water.

Some of us watched this guy do some murals and he didn’t even scuff the paint so it would adhere to it. The guy did mostly motorhomes and trailers and vans. I wonder how many people this happened to. He was a retired old boy that was traveling across America painting murals and moving on. Only in town for a couple of days. I remember his name was DYSON. We gave Brian a lot of shit for having a DYSON on his van and challenger. It coming off was the cherry on top! He was pissed!
I've seen Howard on Old Car Alley clean the corrosion off of connectors by dipping them into some Sno-bowl, toilet bowl cleaner. The corrosion comes right off, and look like new. It really works.

Iv always said you could find a VW gone to rust and if the only thing standing was a door and post? It would shut and latch like new vault door. Great find. I would take the snow flakes if they are real and put them up and throw something that will work on it. You may find a whole bug that needs them. After all the Baja is nice but it will look good with anything that works even a pair off a Super beetle . A nice bug of the snow flake years thats whole but needing them lights would be a better use for them. We all know. Things like them get harder to find every year and they as we all know hang there on the fender begging to take a hit from anything and everything

I too have a daily driver, a 1966. It's got a built 2110 , new transmission, Ansen wide 5s for wheels from the 60s. I've been thru every part on the car including what's in the tunnel. It's not a bug , it's a virus. I am 70 and have the my 63 that my dad bought new , it's a built show car driver hot rod. A 58 Gaia also on a trailer in the garage, that one hadn't been out in years .

I'm not usually a fan of Baja style bugs but for some reason I really like that one. That motor sounds real tired though. Could just need a valve adjustment. I know they're popular for Baja bugs but i'd definitely ditch that header/stinger.

I had a 65 between 67 Baja in Aus back in 76 it had a corvette back clip off sun roof with guttering red in color twin port 1600 the whole shebang. It was in a car magazine before I owned it. A real head turner better than the one you have. Cheers
