    I love my addi sockwonders! I do alot of colorwork socks and they make my socks look so beautifull. I only switch to magic loop for the toes 😊

    I love my 9" Chiagoo needles. They recently came out with a set called the Twist where you can mix and match small 2" & 3" needles on 5" & 6" cables. Just trying them out now. I prefer the tiny cable over dpn's or magic loop. To me, it's just faster. Less to fiddle around with.

    I like these and have several. I don't use them for heel and toes but fly through the foot and the leg. It does feel a bit cramped but being able to knit round and round rather than always stopping to rearrange more than makes up for it.

    I just received my Addi 10 in. sock needle 6/2020. I put them to work immediately. I started out my sock journey with Clover Takumi 9 in.. I have tried a few different ones over the years . So far, I am enjoying these.

    I have small circumference needles (9” 2.75mm - ChiaoGoo) I absolutely love them! It does take some getting used to but I’m so much faster now! I’ll be trying the German short row heels for the first time after seeing your video!

    I've used the SockWonder and also other 9 inch needles to knit socks. Addi also makes an 8 inch circular with the two short needles, which I've also used. For me, the smaller the socksize, the smaller I like the circular. I have small feet and can knit a pair of socks just fine on the 8 inches. It took a little bit getting used to holding the needles, and I do prefer the longer needle on the right for more grip, but all in all, all the short circulars help with me not cramping up in holding my work. The 3.5mm sockwonder works great for sleeves too 😄

      Cool! I like trying all the needles and finding out what other people like too. :)

    I think that it is backwards the longer needle should be on the left. More stitches are ready to be knitted that is the way i hold them and it works easier.

    • @pcl1224
      @pcl1224 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. The stitches seem to slide on to the longer needle and you don't have to adjust and pull up the stitches so often.

      I totally agree. I find it much easier to have the longer needle in my left hand. I am less likely to get finger cramp or pain as I am not clenching the needle so tightly. Also, the stitches do not fall off as easily....the problem mentioned in the video.

      I have a kit which allows me all kinds of experiments and I didn't think I'd like the longer needle in my left hand, but it is more comfortable. Thanks for the tip.

      I did that for an entire sock, I really didn't like it. I believe Jen to be right.

    Thank you, I found you by searching for “what needle to cast on to” when using this needle. I was happy to hear you mention left handed knitting. I am a TRUE left handed knitter, my working needle is in my left hand. I’ve crocheted for over 40 years so knitting left handed was the most natural thing for me.

    I started using 8 inch circulars way back and thought I was a freaky nut because nobody.. yes nobody was using tiny circulars to make socks. This is the only way I'd make socks. It's fast and easy. BUT, at the end if you're doing 6 stitches for a star toe finish, you have to go to 5 dpns. But it works for making the sock til the end.If you're doing a Kitchener toe, then carry on with the small circulars til the end.. I got very fast at it. I have a couple of pairs of smaller plastic Clover circulars that are like 6 inch! Very hard to find those now, but they are great. If you know someone going to Japan, then you can stock up on them.

    What about showing a video with clips of picking up the sole stitches and working that area of the sock, connecting the sole, heel, and leg of th sock.

    I have a question..I just got my needles and I'm knitting a sock with 64 stitches and it knits well but it's stretching out the sock..so it's almost like 70-72 stiches wide..do you have that issue..Thank you

    Question: how do these needles work for doing the heel and toe shaping? Ty

    I think it would be easier to do anything in stranded knitting with these. I have had trouble with DPNS and fair isle. I have flexi flips and that was an improvement

    So, did I miss something? Did you mention the reasoning behind the design of the needle? What difference did the shorter needle and longer needle make? I’m still complete;y puzzled about the difference between this and other tiny circulars.

    Hi, I'm having a hard time finding one of basic sock wonders to purchase. Is there a big difference between the basic and lace needles? Also, I think I'm a bit of a tight knitter, patterns suggest 2.25mm needles, should I go to a 2.50mm or 3mm needle? Thank you 🙂

    What is the casting on like with those needles, and the connecting of the round. That would be good tutorial.

    Has anyone tried 12" circulars for knitting socks? Was looking at Chicagoo 12", looks like the needle portion is longer but the cord appears the same at the 8" circulars.

      I learned how to knit socks with two 16 inch circular needles. It's just like magic loop but the extra needles really help when you need to pick up stitches. I was just wondering about the 9 or 10 inch circulars for color work.

    i got my 2mm sockwonder needles today and i'm having trouble with the length of my cast on. i usually work on dpn's casting on 48 stitches total (16 on each needle, 3 needles +1 working naked needle) and i know that 48 stitches are gonna give me the perfect pair of socks for my size, but on the sockwonder needles that's too few stitches and my cast on stretches out to the point i can't even work because the stitches won't slide towards the tip due to them being so stretched. any advice? (casting on more stitches would result in a wider sock so that's ruled out for me)

    • @craftyjencrafts
      @craftyjencrafts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, that's a tricky one. Because I don't think the type of cast on will help. You could try using the German Twisted Cast On, because it does provide good stretch, so maybe that will help on those needles. My only other suggestion would be to cast on with double-pointed needles, work a couple rounds, and then transfer to the sockwonder needles. But I get that is not ideal.

    • @elenacallegari2933
      @elenacallegari2933 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@craftyjencrafts thank you very much, i will actually try the ''cast on dpn's '' option first, as i'm very comfortable with dpn's as opposed to fixed circulars (i only use circulars for lace ring shawls and cobweb yarn, a TOTALLY different way of knitting). thanks again

    How do you do a heel with these

    • @courag1
      @courag1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I watched a video by Sockmatician and he has a method of what he calls "Knitting Back Backwards" and abbreviates that "KBB". His method of choice is German Short Rows on this video, and he can work back and forth on the one needle, but it is clear that even when doing it that way, you would need to let your other needle sleep as Cat Bordhi says so you'd need two of them or a set of double points for working the heel. I can see how the Flexi-Flips or Addi Crazy Trios would do the job without additional purchase. I think Rox aka Roxanne Richardson has a video explaining if you do a heel flap how that is done.
      I've got loads of 40" small diameter lace needles so doing sock with Magic Loop works for anything, even do, when I do German Short Rows (which I am loving for the moment) I am working with double points and let the instep sleep on my long circular. It works for me that is for the GSR sock heels.
      No matter what, having every tool in the world for knitting is a bottomless pit of expense. No longer cheap yarn with cheap tools. But it keeps me sane in an insane world.

    • @LDSVenus
      @LDSVenus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do a heel on the 9" just put markers at the end if the 1st and 3rd sections because you are doing the heel in the 4th and 1st sections (sorry my brain is dead tonight not thinking is what those sections are called ;p) I do the heel flap and gusset working back and forth on those sections and then when the time comes for the foot I start in the round again :).
