- I knew moving from California to Tennessee was going to present our family with all sorts of new challenges and growth, but now looking back, I had no idea the impact it would have on our day to day lives.
We are finally getting power to the shed which has been our biggest hurdle in making some more progress on the area 🙌🏻 Excited to change directions with it and bring a whole new chapter.
Thank you for watching and subscribing. We appreciate every one of y'all watching and hope you are enjoying watching us explore Tennessee.

I know it is your video, but it made me feel proud of what you accomplished. You didn't bitch or grip about the work, you just got the job done. I am glad you are loving in Tennessee.
I just moved here in TN barely 6 months, I was getting paranoid because they say they'll be here then never show, so I started doing what I can but there is a satisfaction looking at the progress and knowing I actually did it
The more sustainable you can become the better. It's very empowering 😉
@@SugarCreekOffGrid I'm 61 and just started my life all over, I like doing everything myself however excavating is a little hard without equipment.
@@elizabeth3836 do a search on digging bar with tamper. I only use a typical post hole digger to remove loosened soil from the hole. The digger bar does the hard work and it makes it MUCH easier.
I demo'd & redesigned my yard in CA, and now since moving to Crossville last year, I'm starting again...
I'm jealous of that 8' level... whoa! ;-)
Yesssss, that's what I'm talking about 👏🏻👏🏻
Me still suffering in CALI
Me this morning repairing broken water supply line for sprinklers. Dont want to hire someone to fix it and its not an easy job. The line from house doesn’t line up with line in ground. Challenges here I have to heat up hot sand or heat gun to bend PVC abit to
get it done Have a safe 4th
I'm right there with you, pal. Since coming to Tennessee, it's been like starting out all over again. Decorating the house, working the yard to make it what I want, it's stuff I haven't really done since my 20s. I'm proud of what I've accomplished since I began 4 months ago and look forward to what's coming with great anticipation. Looking forward to the podcast. Hang in there, brother.
Brother, I have done a lot of manual labor when I was young to save money. I feel your pain and satisfaction.
I agree! My wife and I just bought our first house in Talbott and we decided after purchasing our fence that we would stain it ourselves. We have finished the exterior with the interior left to go. Talk about pride and proud of what we have done!
Great job, Hard work.......
Man, had I known you needed help... I'm over here in Maryville, just retired and just hanging out. I need the exercise. 😀 Hey, I also saw yall in the newspaper over at Ritchy Kreme.
I'm 63 and had one tree fall during a big wind and knock over two trees. I took my reciprocating saw and took off the smaller branches and hauled them up the hill myself. Had to get help from a neighbor who had tbe chainsaw. He cut up the big stuff and I hauled up the logs. You definitely learn to do as much as you can. I've been in NE TN since September 2010. The best part has been having an almost empty slate in the yard and turning the hard to mow spots into flowers! Next project is filling a crack in the block, then priming and painting it. I very got a deck to clean and stain and the front aluminum siding to clean, prime and paint so it looks like the vinyl on the rest of the house. The to do list is never ending and it keeps you going. Be careful with your shoulders Matt!!
Been in TN. for just over a year, now. East TN. is a vortex for SURE. It forces change on you whether you want it or not. Our biggest shift so far is how we’ve come to God in ways we never could have imagined. We’ve been humbled in ways we could never have thought possible. Indescribable how much we’ve been changed by coming here. We are so thankful. …not easy by any means… but what we needed.
Don't always get what you want...
But God willing you get what you need!
A life long journey.
Becoming self reliant with every step we take.
A very empowering journey for sure
I love the messages hat Chad Wright shareds on his 3 of 7 podcast. Him and his wife's testimony is amazing.
You may have committed a few Osha safery violation standing on that ladder in the way you did while pushing ipwards on tgat post.
But take care of your back my friend,I've done things like you are doing (just to prove i could) now at 62 years of age and a couple of back surgeries later my back is ruined.I used to be an Electrician and dug many holes to set temp power poles by "myself" .On the ground rod in TN you are allowed to drive in in at an angle.Usually the meter base needs to be between 5-6 ft above ground (eye level). Your local power company can provide you with a printout for the particular requirements in your county that has a drawing of the dimensions of where the meter base ,conduit ,standoffs and weather head need to be placed.
I love Tn and Townsend but getting people to show up or call is my biggest problem here !!!!
My daughter has the same issues. 🤔
Good work. Curious as to the approximate cost of a 20 foot pole.
Great job. I'm the same way, I'd rather do it myself.
After 40+ years in comercial construction, even though I'm retired, I prefer to do it myself
Well, praise God it wasn't raining.
😉
You could ask for help though. I live about 20 min from you and may have a few tools that you don't
You done good my man.
💪
You should drive another ground rod 5 feet away then they run a jumper between the two. Also if your gonna do more serious digging you need to call a utility locator company to come mark out where the utilities are so you don't dig into anything
I saw this video pop up on my playlist. I have one question about a comment you made. Why would you think that you could do something that will "improve" Tennessee?? Southern Pride is a thing here - respect the culture and heritage of the south and the state, and don't try to change it. Generations of true Tennessee families have been engraved in the history of this state and if you speak any ill will - you will probably be called a damn yankee or a carpet bagger and told you don't belong here - just saying. Otherwise you will find it a very hospitable place to live.
Big time clay in your soil.
