Guadalcanal's main goal, from my point of view, is to get the respect they deserve as people of the island. Prior to the tension, Malaita (and other provinces) people are settling everywhere in the Island without the consent or legal authorities from the land owners. So what do you expect? People can only take so much disrespect before something will happen. And while this is all in the past and the country is now trying so hard to rebuild, I do not think they have learn their lesson. The same disrespectful behaviour is happening right now. Question is, how long will it take for the people and government to realise that they have to do something or I promise, history shall repeat.
True that, 20 years on....the same Guadalcanal people are selling their lands to the same people they chased........this time in a rapid phase and its alarming. Development of new houses like mushroom outside of Honiara.
The countries they give aid to any country needs to demand accountability on where the money is spent. Even if they install someone from donor country to control the money. I'm sick of corruption, with the people suffering.
Those people are really involved with the problem in the Solomons . They always want to go in a groups. This days Solomons people don't have respect to other people property .
Look closer and you can see the US and Australian hands in this rioting and arson. These two countries are setting the South Pacific on fire. They wanted these islanders to remain poor , drink coconut water, go fishing and tend to their vegetable gardens.
Not sure you have any evidence. I spent 8 years in Solomon's, 5 years in PNG, 4 years in Mauritius, year and half in Somalia : been 6 times to Nigeria, 3 times to Uganda once to Kenya and once to East Timor for consulting. I have enjoyed my time in all these countries but I have to say none of these countries have realised their potential because of their government corruption. Don't blame Australia and USA for Solomon Island problems.

Guadalcanal deserve respect. That's all.

Greed. One of the seven deadly sins. Australia should get involved more as to where their money goes...
@26:06 That she spoke English with an accent that rivals English speakers throughout Asia is intriguing.
