My father's brother, now long dead, fought in Korea. He was an officer in the US Army. His basic remarks about Korea was that it was incredibly COLD. Way colder than the TV show MASH ever showed. It was COLD.
@@AlexanderSamoylov-w1p, I do no t know what he wore, exactly. It happened before I was even born, and he is now dead. I also have no photos of him in the army. But there IS a foot stone at his grave which was given to us free from the veterans admin. It shows he was a young officer of about 22 years old. He survived the war, and came home, married, raised a family.
@@markthomas2436 My friend's grandfather, who was in the anti-aircraft team of Soviet instructors in North Korea 1950-1953, said that your aircraft was strong enough, but very weak at night. I’m from Moscow
Good condition Korean War items ! As you said ,Korean War items are forgotten items. However, collecting Korean War items are more surprisingly difficult to collect than WW2 items.
I like your Videos!!!!! Which MP Pouches did they use in korea? The 20 and 30 round pouches from WW2? Can you Show us a soldier with Maschine pistol kit
My respect to your Grandfather we can’t forget them , very few people even talk about the Korean War it’s all about World War II and Vietnam, I guess that’s why they call it the forgotten war Thank you for watching
My uncle had received two purple hearts in Korea said the troops were issued fall weather gear in 30 below weather and many of his friends froze to death in their sleeping bags because they would put their head in because they were so cold. They were told Harry Truman didn't want to raise taxes to issue winter gear. I remember he hated Truman with a passion.
As a korean war reenactor this is nice to see it covered, as manually figuring this out by word of mouth and on photos (which is of mostly Marines) too FOREVER. couple Corrections, 2 canteens was standard Issue in the pacific and Korea. and where's the JFAK & carlisle firt aid pouches?
I have read several books on the Korean war . Old Baldy and Pork Chop were incredibly brutal battles . I believe Korea was the last of the massive scale infantry charges .
A lot of it was. This system was adopted in 1945, and used until 1956. The USMC kept their M 41 system with a few modifications until the ALICE gear was made standard for all services.
My grandpa served in the air force during Korea, He was a mechanic / radio operator.
That’s awesome thank you for the information
