Thank you so much for this video!!!! I have had my at pro for a year and cannot break over into the gold finds yet. It is so frustrating!!!! I have been digging the wrong numbers it turns out so hopefully after watching this video I will get my gold. Thanks again pal and I'll keep you posted!!!!
Nice video.. very interesting.. I guess I will have to start digging more 40's.. I dig 52-54 but I pass on the 60's most of the time.. GL & HH... it's been raining and cool here too...
I primarily hunt with my focus first on the tones produced by the ATP. If I get a tone in the good range I pass it over the target a few more times and listen to the tone and look at the VDI. I then use my Mark 1 computer (brain I sometimes use) and determine should I dig or not. Depending on the areas I am digging I decide if it is a good signal to dig. Obviously pull tabs, ring tabs, and such do indicate a few things about the area I am about to dig. #1 if I get two pull tabs that means people were likely sitting there, same with bottle caps and that brings me to #2 did they spill coins or rings or jewelry. I search the area more rather than quickly walking on to the next target. Since I usually walk beaches being close to the ocean it is one means of locating spots where people were seated. Usually beaches show marks, but sometimes after a few days no marks are left. I obviously both dry hunt and wet sand/surf hunt. My ring finds have all but 5 come in the wet sand to surf zone. I dig whatever I hear that is good. I rarely refuse to dig pop tabs as I have found 7 rings on the dry areas. Those park areas I hunt have a mixture of signals and I usually use a small sniper coil and don't dig as many pop tabs for the areas around the tables and benches. I use the NEL Hunter coil to sniff out the larger areas. Most of the Rings I have found on the beaches or access paths to the beaches. I have yet to score any jewelry at the tot lots and parks. I do need to find some basketball courts in the parks. I have quite a bit of change in the parks, but looks like other metal detectorists have got the jewelry first. I have found a fair amount of clad quarters, modern nickels, dimes and pennies, but also a little bit of silver coins in areas other detectorists missed. I do hunt in the rain as long as there is no lightening and it isn't muddy or a deluge. I guess that and the VDI are the main differences between the Tesoro and AT Pro and weight as well. I use a sling to not have to bother with sitting the ATP down which is handy, though negated when I kneel to dig in grass or hard packed dirt. I hope someday to get lucky and find that big chain or ring at the parks or playing fields. GL & HH! Oh I realized I forgot to say all the Rings I have found have been with the NEL Hunter coil. It has paid for itself many times over and I highly recommend it as a great mixture of depth and weight!
Good video Grom !! I found it interesting and helpful, thanks for sharing !! Larger thicker gold will give off a higher louder signal. As you said, then smaller thinner gold for sure. You are a king at finding gold !! Keep @ It and HH !!
Thank you so much for all of this informative information. You said that you hoped it wasn't too boring. On the contrary. It was excellent information to compare with signals that I'm looking for. Thank you so much and good hunting to you!
Really enjoyed this video and had to come back and watch it again now that I have an AT Pro .I have cheated myself for many years , just digging anything above the zinc penny range & looking for silver coins . I have found several hundred silver coins , but now realize one or 2 gold ring finds could be worth more than all the silver I have found over the years . I've gotta get out there and look for gold myself .
Just got a At Pro from my daughter for my birthday. Haven't used it yet because of the virus thing. Previously I had an Ace 250. Great machine but I will give it to my daughter. Hopefully we can someday go out together.
@@tombostrom1579 I have since upgraded to an equinox 600, still have the AT Pro. Good machine, the settings I used were, all metal mode, zero discrimination, sensitivity up as far as it goes until it starts becoming unstable.
Great video especially since I also have the AT Pro. When it warms up I'm going to search for my friend's gold ring they lost in their vegetable garden. Now I know what to look for. Cheers.
nice video the first year I got the at pro never dug low or pull tab signal until I hit a gold ring at nickel range now I dig every I swing the nel big coil where I can I notice the nel coil hits at lower number than the stock coil great video for newer at pro owners thanx
Really a good video, thanks, proof, you gotta dig and dig just about everything. For those treasures you found, I bet you dug a ton of trash, but it pays off. That AT-Pro has paid for itself not to mention the hobby and entertainment factor. Thanks!
Excellent video. Can you make one using small chain bracelets and necklaces? Chains are a nuisance usually for detectors and give out lower choppy signals, and seem to be deeper than where they are.
Thanks for a great educational video and please, all AT Pro users, call out your vdi readings if you're producing a video. We can't learn from your experience unless you verbalize for us what you are seeing on the display. Thank You
Yep! There is gold out there everywhere if you know how to read your machine and dig Everything! I dig everything that sounds good and that is a pretty wide range. Can't take the chance that it is not Gold! Those of you who don't dig those ring tabs and pop tabs and zinc pennies and foil just don't know what you might be missing, but go ahead and walk on by because that leaves more for the rest of us!😛
I like your idea with the carry all bucket bag you use. where did you find the bag? I'm having trouble finding one that's smaller than a five gallon bucket size.
I was hunting a 9- year old house and dug 2 45 signals that were little balls of aluminum foil. Probably gum wrappers. There was a third nearby which I decided to not dig. But I ended up going back and dug it. It was a 14K ring with a gorgeous 4 carat natural blue sapphire and 6 diamonds. Unbelievable.
Just bought my first from a coworker in need, but I dropped and it went nuts whit tones..... some help on how to fix. By this vid I can say it is what I was looking for
How do you feel comparing your Tesoro Vaquero versus the AT Pro? That answer could probably make a whole video. I use the AT Pro and love it, but a few of you guys seem to have great success with the Tesoro as well. I have a lot of respect for the Vaquero and some of the other high end models. I know you have found a lot of gold rings with your Tesoro.
The vaq is light and fast. The at pro is waterproof and has a visual display. Performance between the two machines, outside of those differences, is similar.
Very informative..will dig everything now! Thanks bro! I have learned thru the years that the alien metals used changes the numbers in gold items but another big change is mineralization being different in areas will always bring numbers down. For instance, a nickel next to a quarter on my Explorer in that instance will bring the 28 quarter say down to a 25-27 depending how much iron mineralization. A square nail near gold or silver will bring the number down also. Numbers are usually lower in the ground on the dominant item. Grammy do you feel this is correct in this as I do?
Thanks so much Grommy. I just got a At Pro from my daughter. Noticed you had iron disc at 00 and iron audio off and Pro mode. Is this the settings you use for finding gold rings?
Hey thanks for all of that helpful information. I try to dig any strong signal 39 and over now. I have some grounds to go back to. Thanks again. Where do you find most of your rings? Parks ? Schools ?
Parks, around basketball courts and soccer fields. Especially ones that were ative in the 80s and 90s when gold jewelry was very popular for high schoolers.
Hey, Grommy....Lol you didn't "overkill" the video, you are just giving us detectorists heads up on finding more gold!....Lololol....Hey, I really enjoy your vids bro! You are so lucky in finding rings that we should call you the "RingMaster Lommy!"....Ok...Thanks for the info Grommy!...Peace out bro to you and your family! :-)
To bad I don't own an AT Pro, don't get me wrong I would love to own one but I can't afford one. I own a Garrett Ace 250 and I found a 10k child's bracelet plus a lot of silver jewelry. I love your collection and thanks for sharing your tips. Happy hunting !
Haha, no costume jewelry in that lot. Most of them have been straightened/polished at a jeweler and some of them have even been sized to fit my finger. My wife's wedding ring is 18k and comes in at about a 46 on the AT pro. A small piece of aluminum comes in in the 40s - 50s (canslaw and pulltabs) but an entire aluminum can will be up in the low 80s. 82-84 is copper penny or a clad dime on the AT pro and I've got some silver rings that come in around that range (82-84). Your 18k ring that comes in high might be an unusual alloy but the numbers I've shown are pretty consistent with other videos like this (people running gold under their AT Pro coils).
Oh thought you were running a AT gold my bad. I run an AT gold prospecting never dug gold reading 40's on that. Until you refine finds not even a scratch acid test ids reliable. Sell a lot oz's of scrap per month.
well, I'll believe my jeweler on these particular rings being real but most also have easily researched makers marks. I do find my share of plated stuff, even one marked 18k on the day I found the sapphire ring. If they've been in the ground long enough it's not really hard to tell that they are plated, even gold filled rings look really bad after being dug. Plated jewelry wouldn't really survive being resized either. The tiger eye ring is 14k and had the band repaired with 10k when I found it. When I got it repaired I had the 10k bit replaced with 14k when I got it sized. I do ID the fake rings and there's a separate video showing many of them. I just don't agree with you that the only way to ID real gold jewelry is by destroying it.
This is great , too bad i didnt find this earlyer. So basically from 40 and up. Around here most of that is trash and the grass areas ends up completely dug out and that is a problem :)

@@Anthem-nd8sh it's likely that we all do. I don't dig signals in the 40s unless I'm in areas that I think jewelry is likely to be lost. It would be impossible to always dig those types of signals. Hi from wales, u.k. thanks for your tips, got a250 and going up to buy a at pro, where l live its sandy beaches and the pro will suit the wet.
18k lunker rings chime in at 82 - 84, it depends how your machine is set. It's in the details, you may have heavy plated costume stuff.

nice rings
Thank you! I really like my little collection.
enjoyed the video thumbs up

nice video
Thanks James!
So where are you finding all these rings
Parks mostly.
ciao , bravo bel video :-)
What is the sad story Grom? The ring with the blue stone? I will ask on digchat tonight. NEO
+Mark Rehs I will tell you in there :)
G, I,see you have the sensitivity at 3.,Do the numbers go up,with the sensitivity.
+zipngo1 no, they won't. I have it set like that because the machine can chatter in the house.

one more thing more Becca
never thrust numbers. detect by ear not vdi
Boring but now I know. Thanks for your time
Detect 0.05...... 0.1 gram gold ???
