It’s funny because I’m Polynesian and my dad cooks like this. I always thought it was “weird” because he grew up in the motherland but moved to USA for a “better” life. The stews would always be random and have lots of vegetables that are good for your health. I first thought that it was weird because my friends in school would have things like “ American” meals which really is just a huge mix of different cultural foods.
Watching ras kitchen is probably one of the things that’s keeping me sane throughout this lockdown situation we’re in at the moment, it just takes my mind off it for 20 mins or so. Good stuff 👍
I was born in Jamaica my father's side is from Kingston and my Mother's side is from Saint Elizabeth. But I was raised in the States,NYC Tri State Area with that being said as I've gotten older now (51) and I've learned to respect and appreciate the Country side of Jamaica more so now. Mokko cooking reminds me of my grandmother's cooking Much Raspect Blessed evertime Seen My favorite Channel on TH-cam 😊😊😊

I was at the yard when the mango tree fell. It was sometime last year between October 23-30th. It was raining hard dem ting n di tree knocked out the power. Mokko, Coppy, Ratty, n I had to chop the tree because it was blocking the walk path n the tree knocked out the power so Mokko had to get something to connect the wires to bring the power back.

Congratulations on 500k you soooo deserve it mate. I've been watching for six or seven years and I'm still intrigued and entertained every time. Well done Mathew you've made something from nothing and it's better than nearly all the cooking or travel/culture shows on TV. Infact I don't even watch TV shows like this anymore as they pale in comparison to the integrity and honest 'showing' of the lifestyle of a particular rastaman and his family. Which if you want to watch authenticity and not some insipid re-enactment of the truth as seen on TV, then this is where you turn: along with others who are also carrying the torch for authentic 'showings' of the cultures in different countries.

I remember my grandma use to cook gungu pea soup in her big pot out side. I’ve never tasted flavour that can compare to that. Something about cooking outside somehow enhances the flavour.

Matthew, that's not a cucumber. It is actually from the same family of squash as pumpkins. It's called chocho in Jamaica and is known in Mexico and other latin countries as Chayote and/or Mirliton Squash.
