  • It’s often seems plant based living is a new thing, but here in Jamaica Rastafarians have been eating plant based since for ever, they call it ital. which is derived from the word vital. It was an honour to cook with my friend ‪@chefvitaja‬ this delicious ital stew down by the river in Jamaica.

      Veganism and vegetarians are just now being accepted on a big scale in the USA. I have been vegetarian for 40 years, and back then, people acted like you were a lunatic for not eating a meat based diet. Atleast things here are changing. But yes Indians and others have accepted a vegan and vegetarian diet for many many many many generations

    The concept of 'I-Tal' -the'I'-represents the higher states of Consciousness and its inextricable connection to the 'I'nI, viz., We ... Ubuntu-therefore, the etymological arrangement of 'I-Tal' was FIRST conceptualized by the early Rastafari and inextricably linked to the term 'Natural' -organic. Vital was the secondary attachment of the idea and practice!

    These videos are great Gaz. Those of us who converted, have been vegan for years and who intend to be vegan for life can sometimes lose that fervor we had when we started. It just becomes a normal life. But every day I try to take a second to be grateful to live in a time and place of abundance to be granted the chance to make a compassionate choice. Never forget just how much power, vitality, and compassion we are given from the Earth.

I got emotional listening to him speak about the lifestyle and the meaning of connection, I'm in America and I think about how the system has trapped so many people and mostly the new generation of kids are not learning this. All the generations mine yours into home grown, natural nature based food and medicine. Respecting mother nature….and the health of the soil. It feels so good being a vegetarian. Fully and successfully plant-based wasn't possible, but there were mostly plant-based people of course, as well as individuals who tried and failed in the early 20th century for example.

    • @bonniepoole1095
      @bonniepoole1095 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Prehistoric vegans also consumed insects and soil where B12 has been manufactured by the bacteria residing there. Maybe we're too clean, or chemicals have destroyed soil bacteria, or we don't consume enough raw produce grown in healthy, living soil. No plant or animal manufactures B12, only bacteria do.

    Before spanish came to America the diet was mostly plant base ,in México and South América for example the quinoa, chia seeds,amaranto seeds,flaxseeds, corn, beens,etc were the most esting foods with a los of vegetables, there were no cows, pigs, chickens, cheeps, spanish bring with them these animals and in theie law was not aloud for indigenus people to eat "their food ".
