Every state of India has Different variety of Drums and sets of beats. I remember only once in Chennai the Govt organised All Indian and international Drum groups performance in a stadium. Bharathnatyam is the most ancient dance form mainly performed in Temples for the Divine. It is considered the most symmitrical dance, facial, hand gestures with foot movements set to a tune are used with music. The dance form has set rules on costume, jewellery etc whereas Kathak is story based also temple tradition transferred to Kings Courts, also has many foreign influence of that time. India has 6 classical dance forms. All r unique and special. And r flourishing even today.
There r 8 types of classical dances from India. Kathak/UP, Bharatnattyam/Tamilnadu, Kathakali/Kerala, Mohiniyattam/Kerala, Odissi/Odhisha, Sattriya/Assam, Manipuri/Manipur and Kuchipudi/Andhra Pradesh. Further Bhangra is dance of all PUNJABIS and not only of Sikh community.
