Thanks to this video of yours I was able to replace the motor carbon brushes and thus fix my 2008 Ariston ARS68 washing machine all by myself! I just donated 5 pounds but as a matter of fact you're priceless!
Minus the cost of new carbon brushes, you have saved my family well over two hundred quid! We have this exact same washing machine, and this video has been an absolute godsend! Thanks very much!

I followed the video thinking I will just check if the belt is on and if the motor is moving......I got a bit carried away and before I knew it I had the motor in my hand. I had a look at the carbon brushes, they were very worn. I assembled it again and it's seems like our old HOTPOINT is turning again. I just ordered a pair of new carbon brushes form your website PAUL! My father - mechanical engineer - would be very proud, indeed, but to be honest after seeing this video it was easy......The biggest challenge was to find the right tools in my husband`s workshop and to figure out how to put THEM together and how they actually work...(before you comment - they are NO ORDINARY screwdrivers. I have my own set of thoses, unfortunately, they were not enough for the job....).
Thank you so much for this video. The step by step instructions were very clear to follow. The slight differences I encountered on my Hotpoint washing machine are that the motor is Nidec brand, the carbon brushes were PA66-GF and they were held in by 5.5mm hex head screws (which was annoying, as I had to order a 5.5mm socket). I ordered the carbon brushes from your eBay store and they arrived within 2 days. I can't explain how happy I am that the machine is working again. Thanks again.
This is a great video! I took the motor out to discover what type it was, to be able to order the correct brushes, then I found that if you take the plastic case off the brush there are two little brush-retaining tabs in the brass tube. If you bend them away then the carbon comes out an extra millimetre or two, which means you can reassemble the motor with the old brushes and get a load more washing done whilst waiting for the new brushes to arrive and a convenient time to fit them.

Excellent video - much better than others I'd seen on the same subject. Very clear explanations and really good tips for someone who has never done this job before e.g. on getting the lid off and taking off and replacing the belt. Thanks to this video I got the motor off our Hotpoint Wf740 which had stopped spinning. Getting the brushes off the motor on our machine needed a socket size which I didn't have (rather than a screwdriver), so I took the whole motor to a friendly and helpful local appliance repairer and dealer, who took the old worn brushes out, cleaned the armature and then replaced the brushes. Once the motor was back in the machine, the machine was back to normal. Total cost: less than £17. This video saved me a load of money. Thanks very much! I have subscribed to your channel.

Just as a adjunct 4 years later had to replace the brushes again. Interestingly it was also 4 years from when we bought the machine in 2013 I had to replace the 1st set of brushes which was 2017. Machine now on its 3rd set of brushes but still going fine.
Soy de Argentina, no se ingles, pero esta tan bien hecho el video mostrando cada paso a seguir desde el inico de sacar la tapa, etc, que entendi todo re bien, lo voy a hacer, muchas gracias 👌
An excellent video that shows the amateur exactly what to look for and what to do. I have a John Lewis JLBIWM1403 but can’t find any info on it, can you tell please which company produces the machines for them. Kindest regards, Frank

Many thanks. A couple of questions if I may. 1. Why did you remove the retaining plastic tab before fitting the brush rather than afterwards as that would stop having pressure on the brish as you are aligning it? 2. Was it necessary to remove the motor (other than for making it easier to see on the video) as opposed to laying the washing machine on its side and changing the brushes in situ?
thank you do you have IFB senator 400-1100 repair manual. I have same issue after (2001-2018) 18 year old machine. it sparked a lot. and now not working.
Would the burning out of one of these cause sooty black deposits on the back plate/spider/belt of my hotpoint? Would it also smell like burning/burning rubber after a load?
