I love how this game is different from other rougelikes by changing the rules of the game every run instead of just changing loot and encounters. Cool concept!
@14:00 Crowbar is actually really good. You have the 12 countdown poison 4 equipment already. If you get 1 or two other countdown cards, then the turns you have high numbers you can unload all of them at once. I forget how strong its upgraded version is. Edit after vid: you even saw the Blight card a bit later and one of the repeatable low damage +1 poison cards, BUT the build you ended up with was beautiful so I can't really fault you for that at all.

As far as I know, the abilities you start with aren't considered equipment, so they aren't effected by things that rely on equipment (2x next equipment & curse). I also think that any other grey cards are also not considered equipment.
Ah, I played this episode earlier, and while I had some trouble, I was curious on how you would handle it. This is my first kind of game like this, but watching someone who's an expert in this is always fun to watch.
@@sunnywunny It was hard at first but card games are like my favorite genre so I caught on pretty quick...but I do think Tyler over thinks somethings like this one is by far one of the easier challenges

Man... As you play this game, you seem to slowly realize how absolutely ridiculous your build is. Incredible design by the developers! and great video.
The small equipment space means “figure out good synergy or di(c)e”, you heal to full all the time because you start to lose in 3 or 4 turns of unmitigated damage as it gets hard so preparation to rig the fight becomes more of the battle than thinking on your feet, and there’s a razor thin margin between an easy fight that can be won with a preset strategy and a practically unwinnable one.

I am so used to you never making suboptimal plays that it has ruined every other channel playing strategy games for me. I tried watching someone else play one of the interesting challenges and like five minutes in I was like "On second thought, I'll wait for Tyler to do this."
Sorry I am a bit confused right now. Its episode 12 but the progress on 30:23 shows 9 completed runs (if the white dice stand for completed runs). I would understand if the episodes are out of order, but why did Tyler skip some levels (like Thief 2)? I hope for 36 episodes (=6 characters with 6 difficulty runs) to see all the different rules.
Idk what you’re talking about, he’s uploaded every run shown there, and he’s stated that he’s playing the ones with rules he finds interesting at the moment, so his order will be kinda random. To unlock the latter three episodes for each character, he needs to beat 2, 3, then 4 episodes of the character anyway so the order won’t be that random.
I love the sudden change in difficulty this game can have. Like witch episode 3 compared to 4 is get the most broken build ever vs one wrong move and u ded...
Yeah he didn’t quite understand Backstab’s description to realize how strong it would be, and that makes sense iirc I was also wondering exactly what it meant when I first saw it.
I just beat this mode the other night. I’ve found that a lot of Rogue challenges can die on the first or second floor due to bad luck and a rough start, but this uptick mode is pretty fun.
@@CowKirbo bear run. Using the thief, you can steal the turn into bear potion from the alchemist. If you use it, you will be a bear the entire run with bear attacks. But it is rng dependent. May have to restart a few times

doing the math having kunai+ and dagger is exactly equivalent to having just dagger+. With kunai+ and dagger you would deal 2, 4, and 3 damage, and just dagger+ would deal 2, 3, and 4 damage. you could argue about which number is better to have damage on, but id say the extra equipment slot is more important overall
I love how this game is different from other rougelikes by changing the rules of the game every run instead of just changing loot and encounters. Cool concept!
There are runs for that too, the parallel universe runs have a completely unique set of equips
Loot pool is also different
And the bonus rounds too. Lots of replayability
Every different rule change has different equipment to go along with the rule change, such as kunai in this rule change
It’s baffling just how much variety they put into this game
I'm imagining this little die running around with 300 kunai in his back pocket and unloading them at anyone who crosses his path.
he pulls out a calculator and starts muttering to himself, then he rolls 13 dice and kills you
imagine an anime about that little die
Kunai
The turn at 17:13 was beautiful. Pulling out lethal damage from a single die, and on a one no less, without even using your limit break.
