    You do realise you can't go into town centres on a night now! If young ladies of a certain age see those Led strip lights they'll jump in the back thinking its the party bus 😆. Or perhaps that's your cunning plan all along 🤫

    Indirect lighting is the key. I remodel homes homes, and I always add as many lights under shelves and build light soffits where possible . You wanna see the light but not the bulb.

    The Vobes Black-van illuminations! Everyone needs a socket set - either gifted or bought new. I've got both!

    I have led lights in my work van which are brilliant but in my camper I found them too harsh on the eyes so swapped back to soft flourescent ones. More relaxing of an evening.

  • @theworth123

    That brought back a memory, your draper socket set. I had the same one bought in 1983, someone else liked it too, and stole it from my garage. It was a nice bit of kit.... Also from experience Richard, (not particular to your lights but in general) ensure all your earths are clean metal to metal, as 12v is easy enough but difficult to solve when it goes wrong, the main reason for faults is poor earthing to the body, over paint the connections with Vaseline too,, stops damp from soaking away current. As for the old-school chocolate-block connectors well, there are better ways nowadays using crimped on connectors and heat reducing sleeves. All looks good though...

    Very nice, I think I like the ribbon light wrapped around the top the best, looks really fancy.

    Richard, you could use crimps on the wires or solder them and that would get rid of the unsightly terminal blocks!

    The LED lights look amazing Richard! My partner watched this one with me and commented how well edited your videos are and how much effort you must put into them. And I agree! Excellent continuity! Love the van 😍😍

    This was a great video to watch I am sure there will be lots of views great to see the troublesome beams have been banished and you now have a choice of lighting options to work with from Paul's mine and the recycled ones really pleased they will be a great addition you need a celebrity to come and do a commissioning switch on event perhaps get the smt the together for a new in years celebration now the white lights are in situ any thoughts of some coloured ones for the lovely julia

    Marvellous progress Richard. The bothersome beams in the van brought to mind the low beams in olde worlde pubs with their sign "duck of grouse." I'm glad you're getting things sorted.

    Watching was a bit like waiting for the Oxford St Christmas lights to be switched on, Richard. You just needed the celebrity to do it…. But WAIT (!), you ARE the celebrity so all well & good 😁 Seriously, the lights look great and you are clearly far more capable at DIY than you give yourself credit for. Excellent job!! x

    Hi Richard. Whatever you do with vehicle wiring make sure you have the wires protected where they go through holes in the bodywork to prevent shorts from cuts from edges. The wires can be run inside black split convoluted tubing if needed. I assume that they run of the second battery? Find the fuse that feeds the lights and keep a couple of spares!

    Now you have ‘backlights’ for your three-point lighting set up for the van. Nice work. Also trivia, you can get plastic domed covers for the led strip/ reel type lights, to limit the LEDs being damaged.

    • @RichardVobes
      @RichardVobes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Loving those lights! The led ones give off quite a nice relaxed vibe as well. Thanks for sharing the video on those. Although I have lights above our cooking area, I'll look into a set for above our seating area based on these.

    Might want to paint the inside of the van white to lighten it up. Also spend a few hours learning how to solder those wires together instead of using screw connectors which will no doubt fail at some time in the future.

      @@RichardVobes well my plan is to use velcro tape as the inside of my van is carpet walled..... but I guess I need to try that and see if it works. The strip lights that you fitted are screwed to the wood paneling so they stay put.
