Fascinating. Friend in Germany showed me the basics and my finished bookmark is loopy but I love it. That was in 2010...and I never used my bobbins since Germany. But I'm proud that I finally did a bit of bobbin lace, with the patience of dear friend Jutta. Thank you for making these videos and the roller one. Love!
your videos are easy to watch, stop, do, continue. Your tutelage is clear and understandable. I really appreciate the tutoring of each step of each stitch. I learn more, faster with your vid's. Thank you so much.
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I mentioned your site today on my channel. I gave them the link in the description below my video. Thank you!! Hugs, Deb
you are a very good teacher!!!!! Now we need more tutorials. Thank you so much!!!!!!
Thank you. I have plans to make some more soon.
@@Bonitocrafts hooray! ❤❤
This is mesmerizing. It also gives perspective to the amount of skill and artistry that goes into making lace. (I thought of Mr Bennet in Pride and Prejudice scolding Mrs Bennett about talking about lace on someones dress.)
My new friend. Thank you for showing me this Wonderful.Sampler. It is a beautiful book mark I will Enjoy. The opportunity of following you is very important too me. I enjoyed the Spider.
I think the older ways handmade lace is extremely beautiful ❤️ anywho y'all have a blessed day and night ❤️.
Your instructions are very good, the best I have seen on You Tube. I was about to teach a lady to make lace this year but covid happened. I ill let her know about your You tube, so she can get to know what she will be doing ?soon.
Thank you. It’s really great to get feedback. I hope to get some more videos up in the new year.
I wish I knew about your videos when I started. Excellent teacher! More videos!!!
Thank you. I’m working on it. Your feedback is very much appreciated.
Pricking is quite delightful, this. Lovely!!!
Thank you for your kind comments.
This is amazing.
I am teaching myself and your bookmark followed on from those in Dye and Thunder's excellent book. This was quite a big leap. However, your video was excellent support for your kit. I had to do a lot of undoing but finished the bookmark eventually. I found the straight footside the most difficult; more to do with identifying the new "worker" pair and at the correct stage. Much of this is related to the general issue of connecting the various components such as diamonds, trails, etc. I think this has to be learnt by experience so I am going to repeat this bookmark until I can work it just from the pricking. Many thanks.
Thank you so much for this, it's so clear and it helped me a lot! 😊
Какая красота!!!!
Ooh! So glad to have found your channel!
Thank you. I hope you find it useful.
it loos absolutely beautiful
Outstanding!
Excellent instructions! So happy I found your videos!
Thank you. I’m so glad they are helpful.
A lovely clear video, thank you. Really struggling with my diamond, teaching myself
Thank you. I hope this helps you with it.
Working to get lots more basics videos filmed and uploaded in the new year.
ooooh this is so useful! thank you so much!
Idk why the ASMR community didn’t pick up on these video. I like listening to the bobbins 😂. Maby if you title them asmr and just make a video of you making these, maby it will get more exposure. I hope this art never goes extinct.
Because this actually takes talent and skill and would require they learn how to do something other than obnoxiously chew a fake ear on camera or tapping their nails 10k times too much…
The only other option are for the videos to be eaten up by the unintentional asmr channels that just repost shit and steal views.
😂😂 the crowley glasses 🎉🎉
Thank you, thank you...
You’re very welcome.
Thankyou for taking time to explain how to select the worker pair of bobbin.Bu as I understood , the workers change after one complete row.Am I right?❤
The worker will stay the same for the whole shape in cloth stitch and the leading thread of the worker will stay the same throughout a shape in half stitch.
This is such a wonderful lesson. I took speak my stitches as I do them and was told it isn't nice to do that, but WOW this was such a help to me. I even caught the mistakes when you forgot to close the pin because the rhythm changed and I knew something was off (I'm a music teacher so I'm big on patterns) I looked for this pattern at Roseground and didn't see the exact pattern. I saw a group of 4 patterns but none of the examples have the trails. How can I get this exact pattern you are doing here and work it along with you? Normally I can't follow online teaching but THIS, THIS is perfect I really hope you do more.
I think you did find the correct pattern on roseground. This is the link. www.roseground.com/product/4-bookmarks-perfect-for-beginner-lacemakers
The one that matches this sampler is the one on the left. The other three are variations that use all the same stitches and techniques covered in that first bookmark sampler that is covered in this video.
Thank you for your kind words. I’m very glad that you have found my tutorials useful. I hope that if you purchase the patterns you enjoy them. And look out for my small squares set of videos too. They are a great progression from this set.
Happy Lacemaking.
@@Bonitocrafts aaaah now I see. The trails at the bottom are half stitch. I was looking for cloth, but I actually had only gotten to the honeycomb part so have yet to see how it all ends up. I will get the patterns and the small squares since there is a video for it. I just joined a lace group in my area, but nobody is meeting yet so I will have to go on my own for stuff till I can get together with people. And just to be sure the Finca 40 (I believe that is what it said) is the correct thread for these? Thread is harder to get in the USA and I was using a thread comparison book and my teacher said it wasn’t that good. I’m learning how to measure dots to choose thread, but if you are 100% sure it works best I’ll just get it. I suppose this isn’t like knitting where things change with the fiber you use depending on the knitter. Finally got that figured out after a few years. Thanks so much for your quick answer. I really enjoy getting to know textile folks because they are so much more helpful that other business people. I’ll be happy to get as many of your patterns as you do tutorials for.
Charlie
@@charlesowens2578 you’re welcome. Happy to help. Finca 40 is the thread I used for the lace in both the bookmarks and the squares. There will always be personal preferences when it comes to threads but I very much like the Finca thread. Unlike the vast majority of threads we use in lacemaking Finca is actually a thread made specifically for lacemaking. Most thread is either a sewing thread or machine embroidery thread, or even crochet threads.
I only know of one thread comparison book which is by Brenda Paternoster but I have always found it to be very useful. Although there is no substitute for being able to look at a thread against a pattern and know whether it is right for the piece. That skill comes with experience though. Enjoy your lace.
Muy bonito
M gustan sus explicaciones
Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos 😊 🙂
Muchas gracias por sus amables comentarios.

This is amazing! 😍Have you ever made strips of lace to add to garments?
das hast du toll erklärt und ich möchte es unbedingt nacharbeiten. Leider funktioniert die Zahlung mit PayPal nicht. Sehr schade:(
If you send me an email to claire@bonitocrafts.co.uk I can send you a paypal invoice that should work for you.
Merci beaucoup pour votre démonstration si claire. Où peut-on obtenir le carton, quel espacement entre chaque point s'il vous plaît (en millimètres) ?
Hi. Thank you for your kind comments. All my patterns are available here www.roseground.com/categories/milanese-more-patterns-by-claire-bonito
There are 4mm between pinholes down the side of the pattern. I hope this helps.
Apologies for the delay, I have been away.
@@Bonitocrafts thank you very much. Vos motifs sont magnifiques mais beaucoup trop compliqués pour moi qui suis une débutante. Je vais commencer par m'exercer sur les points de base. Merci encore de partager avec tant de patience votre savoir-faire.
thanks so much for this instructional video Claire, I've just completed my first sampler bookmark, managing to limit the mistakes :-D. I now want to have a proper go with the trails in cloth stitch in contrasting colour - with my first attempt I ended up with a lot of leftover thread, I had about 1.6m of thread per pair. How much would you recommend (I worry particularly about the background colour thread- I know thread is cheap but I hate waste....). Thank you!
Thank you. Always lovely to get feedback and know that my videos are helpful. Happy lacemaking.
When I made mine I wound one bobbin of each pair full then wound off a small amount onto a partner bobbin for each. This is because I use the same thread for multiple pieces and so will use up the thread over time. Sorry if that doesn’t help very much.
@@Bonitocrafts thank you very much!
I can’t find the pattern can we get a link?
Hi, Thank you for your message. I have updated my Facebook Page to add details of the patterns for this. Please follow the link for further details.
You should be able to view even if you don't use Facebook, to purchase you can either send me a message via my Facebook page or email me at claire@bonitocrafts.co.uk

Hi Clare, please may you do a video on how you wind your bobbins, mine keep coming undone and it spoils the tempo.....
Have you seen my video on how to add the hitch on the neck of the bobbin? That’s most likely to be the cause of bobbins coming undone.
@@Bonitocrafts I can only find about 6 videos by you, which one is it please? I am sure I have it right but I’m willing to explore alternatives
@@sophiewhite674 have a look here. th-cam.com/video/yC0QKDhYUvI/w-d-xo.html
Also. If you go to my TH-cam channel and look along the top of the screen you will see some options. From the tab ‘home’ you will only see a selection of my videos. The next option along says videos. If you click or tap on that it will bring up all the videos in my channel.
I hope this helps.
@@Bonitocrafts I’m so happy. I will try today. Thank you for your help
How can we buy some of your lace patterns?
i find the stitching to be too fast for me
how does she do her half stitch
Just curious, what do you do with all those bobbin full of thread
I tend to wind my bobbins full as I am usually making multiple pieces with the same thread so for the next piece I will just wind some off the full bobbins to second empty ones to make new pairs.
My problem is I need to see the hands at the same time as the pattern you’re just too close with your camera
It’s always a challenge to get the right balance with videos. If the zoom is far enough to see my hands then you won’t be able to see the pattern and it’s the pattern and the thread movement that’s most important. With the level of lacemaking this video is pitched at it is assumed the viewer has already mastered the basic stitches so shouldn’t need to see the hand movements to know the stitch movements.
I am planning some basic stitches videos soon and will bear your comments in mind when making those to ensure they are as clear as they can be.
