My brother was a really bad alcoholic, but his Dr. would tell him the one good thing about it was that he only drank beer and beer has some nutritional value, whereas liquor is just straight poison. Just look at Bonham, Moon, Joplin, Morrison etc...yes they were on other shit too, but essentially it was the whiskey that got them in the end. And so young. The minute my brother switched to liquor (because it was easier to transport and hide) the decline was instant.
I’m a recovered heroin addict from New Jersey….I know tons of Heroin addicts that successfully quit. It was the friends that abused synthetic opiates that completely lost their shit afterwards. Pharmaceutical synthetic drugs like fetanyl, opama, dilaudid turned friends of mine into different people. They are so strong that they affect your neurological wiring for life if they are abused long term. These were the addicts that moved onto breaking into homes and violent crime.
My dad currently has a house on Harbor Isle in Island Park, NY. He lives on a straight diet of Coors Light and gets drunk with his 85 year old Irish widow neighbor. I went and got a bagel with him the other day since his dog died and he was sad, it was nice because there was no more dog poop in the backyard though. Never saw someone pair a beer with an everything bagel and white fish cream cheese spread so casually. Your the best Tim!
