Hey Rev. I have a bit of an odd question, what power supply is in that radio. The reason i ask is it looks the same size as the mean well RS-100-12 in the Galaxy DX-2547. if so I'm thinking i could swap the higher amperage PSU into my 2547 and put a RFX95-HD in my radio and not have to use an external PSU.
Change X2 14.010 to 15.360. This also works on the 2517 and other radios that use 14.010 in the x2 slot. If you have a dead 959, it has the 15.360 in the x3 slot. That’s where I pillaged one for testing. But without getting at least 5KC slide up or down on the clarifier, I put back the 14.010 for now. I put crystal sockets in some radios for testing years ago. Makes it quick to experiment. You will need to realign it though. Check the VCO voltage is about 2.75-3 on band D CH1 and realign the frequency cans.
Thats a back to the factory modification,me thinks, have a rethink with factory engineers. I think the better option for Ranger would be fit a dual coarse\fine control as factory standard. Other option would be 5kc/10kc step button do it via the PLL chip, could then keep the fine tune as normal of clarifier? Rob.P
That really sucks for the zeros and even 10m am/fm with the crystals change.

Just wondering can you put in a 5kc switch ? Like we had in the good old days ?
What was that crystal that you said to use to get the 2517 into 29 MHz
