Please help me man, after I watched this video 3 months ago you inspired me to replace my dashboard with velociti dash, but I’m struggling to replace a steering wheel please help me🙏.
Hi bud. You need to put a spline adaptor onto the steering shaft. The velocity steering has a bigger mounting hole than the older steerings. I speak about this in my video "fitting a golf 6/7 steering on a mk1". You simply knock it over the existing splines and it will act as adaptor. The velocity /golf6/7 all use the same spline size. This adaptor is quite easily obtainable on facebook marketplace. I hope that this answers your question bud. Drop me a message if further clarity is required. Regards builtmk1
Hello man, after watching your video I was inspired so I ordered my velocity dashboard from a car breaker in South Africa. He send me the full harness along with two boxes one is written POWERLOCK and the other SHURLOK on top of that he sent me the full ignition set and the aircon box my issue now after connecting everything my car wont start even after changing from 2 pin coil to 3 pin coil now I am being told I am missing another black box ......may you kindly assist my golf is a carburetor
Hi. These cars can have up to 4 modules. A shurlock box, which is generally the control box for the cluster , an ecu, an alarm unit and an abs unit for the last spec golfs. This is difficult to diagnose but I assume that the issue is that there is no spark. Is the immobiliser light flashing on your cluster? It may be an issue of incorrect ecu to lockset. My best guess is that the key needs coding
Hi. I show the black control box on the video. That controls your heat, fuel, indicators and rev counter. Your lights and speedo can work without however you need the new spec wiring harness. Initially when I did not have a control box I manually wired in an indicator relay for the indicators and put on aftermarket gauges for the fuel and water temp. The only drawback with that is that your hazards won't work. I however wanted everything to look stock hence I got the control box. Please note that the rev counter works off the CAN system. I had to find a work around as I'm using a dictator 60-2 management. I hope that this is the explanation you were looking for. Let me know if you require clarity on anything.
