Back then it was already a song that made me cry really easily, and I have to say I still remember how hearing that song during that scene took me by surprise, I started sobbing on the spot, I was in complete shock

So a little history about ReoNa. She did TH-cam covers before entering a competition/audition for Sacra Music, which is owned by Sony. She was a finalist in the audition at the age of 19. She debuted a year later as the singing voice of Elza Kanzaki for the anime adaptation of "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online". She did a mini-album, 7 songs in length, for the Anime, each song can be heard during the anime as Elza is a primary character. She was literally catapulted into the spotlight from here as since then her career has become one of legend in a lot ways. This literal unknown girl on YT who broke out from an audition to play a vital role in an anime in her first year in the industry? It's a rare sight indeed, especially given how big of a franchise this is. The rest is truly history, she's among my favorite artists; in my top 3 next to LiSA and Minami. Honestly, GGO imho is the best Sword Art anime by a long shot, it's also self-contained, it's only 12 episodes long, and I'd highly recommend it. It's much more down to earth and the plot is a much more personal one that has a focus on the characters rather than an overarching "seasonal narrative".

Actually, the song was used twice in the season, (SPOILERS AHEAD) EP 19 "Seal of the Right Eye" is the episode where this song was first played, when that character succumbs to his negative thoughts and trauma EP 24 "My Hero" is the song where this song was played for the second and last time, and that's the episode where the "loss" happened Hope I cleared things up!
God, I cannot make it through that song with dry eyes! I thoroughly agree that SAO has an amazing soundtrack. As far as the anime goes, I do actually enjoy it. It does have a few arcs that (understandably) aren't very popular, and people aren't too happy that the main character seems so over powered... but when it gets it right, it gets it really right, in my humble opinion. Can really deliver the emotional hits very well. I'm going continue my crusade for 'Kiss of Death' by Mika Nakashima, the op for Darling In The Franxx. Pretty please? It's so good that rather than change the song for the second half of the anime, they just used the next verse and chorus of the song! They used it twice, it's gotta be good! ^_^
i dont know why people complain that he was "overpowered" if you've seen the show you know that complaint isn't valid at all, everything he does makes sense and he loses a lot more than he "wins" in my opinion when it comes to the things that matter, on top of all that he was as strong as he should be after being one of the best players in sao, i don't get the complaint cause people even made videos showing why he's not for soo many reasons... again as was shown.. its like you and all those other people didn't pay attention.. (he's strong, especially at certain moments, but not even close to "OP" it definitely didn't make the show worse)
@@elismart13 Whoa now! I never said, I consider him over powered - that's just, as you yourself are very much aware, a common complaint by detractors of the show. I enjoy SAO. I can see, from an objective stance, why arcs like Fairy Dance weren't popular with some people. I still enjoyed it myself, but I understand why others wouldn't.
imo sao just suffers from a really mediocre anime adaptation. the really hated scenes are still there in the novels, yes, but some of the most exciting and interesting scenes were completely skipped in the adaptation, even though they wouldve been amazing in the anime. the progressive movies too, they added an anime original character who takes just so much away from asuna as a character and also a ton of screentime in general. argo, for example, was almost completely cut from aria of a starless night. In the sequel they skip to scherzo of deep night, completely leaving out the first half of a super good (albeit not finished yet) arc in the books, and i think it really sucks

It is a really sad song. ReoNa sings it trully beautifuly. I can feel how we all get emotional when we try to immerse us into them when they sing in the first take's. When i heard LISA's Homura or this song Niji no Kanata ni in context ie. anime i cried like a little baby. Those songs are truly heartfelt. I mean i can only be glad i did not loose someone truly close to me. Cause the last time i did lose someone was like when i was 8 i think so almost 20 years ago. But whenever i think how sadness should be portrayed in songs it is mostly like this. Just an Piano and a Great singer singing with his or hers soul out. . . . In reality i already stopped watching normal movies or shows years ago cause the most emotional scenes i witnessed in my last 15 years were all in anime. That is why i just love this medium. The sadness. The happy moments. The Despair. The Hope. I just love anime with great stories. And at peak we get such performances like what we witnessed now. Just pure emotion to break us down. . . . It's okay, man. I can't make it through without breaking. As if her performance wasn't enough, it always makes me think of a dear friend that I lost tragically, and far too soon. I'm thankful for every moment that I had with her, want more with her, and look forward to seeing her again
ReoNa is my favorite Japanese Artist, her voice is soo nice to listen to. This song is so emotional and the performance is so emotional, when i listen to this song i listen to the version from the first take as it's more emotion that the studio recording. BTW for anyone curious, ReoNa's first take performances are on apple music just the audio for those that prefer it over the normal version of the song.

Now that i revisited this song again after few years, i interpret something that may or may not true: this song may referenced The Wizard of Oz. Niji no Kanatani translates to Over the Rainbow, which is the title of soundtrack of the movie Wizard of Oz (1939) The first part of the song referenced a rusty tin man who lost its heart under a curse The next part referenced the cowardly lion which pretend to be strong and then the next part referenced the scarecrow Tin man, Lion, and the Scarecrow are the companions Dorothy had in the world of Oz, but each of these characters represents a virtue that Dorothy needs for her journey back home: brains, courage, and heart. In the Wizard of Oz song, The place that was over the rainbow is the place where no trouble exist, where all dreams come true, but that was not the place we're headed to.
I have rewatched this video of yours for a few times. Every single time I cannot not chuckle a bit because of your, "Renona Niji no Kanatinani". But it is even more hilarious because you said it the right way the first time😂. I guess when there are a bunch letters in a word you get it all mixed up (I know because at least three of my previous teachers having a hard time pronouncing my first name, which have one letter less than "Kanatani")
Throughout the lyrics and the song you can pick up all the references to "The Wizard of Oz", you have the cowardly mane (Lion), the tin man, the scarecrow. the mention of far far away, and over the rainbow it's all there.
I count myself as a big SAO fan and I agree, the soundtrack is one of the absolute best. Both the OP and ED songs, as well as the classic score. But as for this song here, I don't think it matters much. Having lost someone, in whatever way, I think all of us can relate to. And for this situation alone, this song is the fitting 'soundtrack'. For those who know the anime, followed the story/journey up to this point, and have gotten involved with the characters, it therefore probably hits twice. At least, that's how I always feel. Kind of amusing that when I first saw the title of this video I had absolutely no idea what this song was, but right before the song started playing it dawned on me exactly what it was... and now my eyes are trying to sweat. The song itself is emotional, and it really adds to what is probably the most emotional scene of the entire series to date. In fact, that scene still plays a big role in Kirito's character in this latest arc that hasn't even been animated yet.

I'm going to try to keep the spoilers as vague as possible so I can give to you some context about this song and why it means a lot to her. As you pointed out, this is a song about losing someone. ReoNa's debut was being the singing voice of the character Elza Kanzaki in the SAO spin-off anime Gun Gale Online, and since then, she has been very close to the series. She even has a playable character in SAO Alicization Lycoris game. This song plays during de ending of one of the episodes in which an important character is lost. This character is ReoNa's favorite, so this is her final goodbye to that character.
If you didnt know, SAO recently had its 10th anniversary and Reona, ASCA, and Aoi did a trio song called Soukyuu no Fanfare. Its a really solid song and i highly recommend it.

The thing is Anime doesn't only make you happy and sad it also makes you angry or disturbs you .SAO got a lot of attention but unlike the most popular shows that are based on Shonen Manga (comics for teen boys ) .This was a novel adaptation so the writer wasn't restrained in what he can depict or not . So people got a taste of some unsavory genres . In short mainstream doesn't like negative emotions in their entertainment .So opinions are split on the show. IMO it takes some skill to piss people off in a not half assed way in fiction .

Reona is such a phenomenal vocalist. A really great song that hit so hard when it was playing in SAO. I recommand you to react to Zetsubou Nenpiou, my favorite song from Reona. It's not related to an anime but it's a really hard and full of emotion song. if you react to it one day, please check the lyrics, they hurt a lot, but it's definitly worth it

Sword Art Online is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the music vs the anime, the anime mostly is fairly light towards the start though it deals with some hard topics it portrays it in a more friendly way, but then you have certain seasons that emotionally hit very differently and that's where songs like this come from. all in all sword art early seasons are a good show to relax to and just have fun and watch but some of those later seasons are what i really enjoyed. since your looking to Listen to more Aimer the next one i would recommend would be Brave Shine from the Fate Series.
A lot of people hate on Sword Art Online just because of mob mentality. It is a very "okay" show with a great start and some great later moments when you're invested.

You gotta check out Till The End by ReoNa. It’s the 10th year anniversary song for the Light Novel of SAO. It’s honestly I think it’s one of her best songs and it’s a sad love song I think
Great song. Great reaction. The feel of this song reminds me of a LiSA song called "Shirushi". It also on a part in season 2 of sword art online. The way the song hit and that part where Shirushi played hit me hard too. There is no First Take of it, but man you should check it out if you like "feels" songs. Anyway take care :). Oh and yes Sword Art has some dark themes in it and a lot of heartfelt parts for sure.
ReoNa's voice is so unique! I would recommend her other song called "Untitled World", which is the 1-year anniversary theme song of a mobile game, Arknights. Her voice is always so peaceful yet powerful and I enjoy that so much.

Yes, this song is about loss. There was no personal loss, but there was a character that died, as this song was playing softly in the background. Because it was a character that so many fans loved, that scene is the only time this song had played. Normally it's Forget-Me-Not, but Niji No Kanatani fucked us all up.
I think, at this point whatever one may think of SAO may come down to a simple point - would you trust that all these talented artists put their hearts into SAO's adaptation because they see in it something worth giving their heart to, or would you trust some random people on internet screaming that it's bad...

The in-universe events of Sword Art Online began just a couple of days ago (it's a sci-fi set in 2022 :D) - even though it's not an anime reaction - still a very close match to have SAO content this week, thanks :D And yes - SAO's is as beautiful of a story as the soundtrack it has. It's literally adaptation of critically acclaimed Light novel of a decade. People that hate on it are mostly in the West, where a couple of YTers trashed on it with lies and misconceptions for easy likes... yeah... Hope you'll experience it one day for yourself and will have fun with the series :)
Everyone that would hate SAO since their S1 part 2 or S2, would all agree Alicization is one of the best of the best for SAO in terms of everything. If you ever react to SAO, i cant wait to actually experience it again with you.

@@elismart13 Whoa now! I never said, I consider him over powered - that's just, as you yourself are very much aware, a common complaint by detractors of the show. I enjoy SAO. I can see, from an objective stance, why arcs like Fairy Dance weren't popular with some people. I still enjoyed it myself, but I understand why others wouldn't.
imo sao just suffers from a really mediocre anime adaptation. the really hated scenes are still there in the novels, yes, but some of the most exciting and interesting scenes were completely skipped in the adaptation, even though they wouldve been amazing in the anime. the progressive movies too, they added an anime original character who takes just so much away from asuna as a character and also a ton of screentime in general. argo, for example, was almost completely cut from aria of a starless night. In the sequel they skip to scherzo of deep night, completely leaving out the first half of a super good (albeit not finished yet) arc in the books, and i think it really sucks
This song was used as the ending for one of the saddest episodes in the whole show and i'm tearing up just from hearing it again now but it's such a beautiful song and no one could've performed it better than Reona 💔

It is a really sad song. ReoNa sings it trully beautifuly. I can feel how we all get emotional when we try to immerse us into them when they sing in the first take's. When i heard LISA's Homura or this song Niji no Kanata ni in context ie. anime i cried like a little baby. Those songs are truly heartfelt. I mean i can only be glad i did not loose someone truly close to me. Cause the last time i did lose someone was like when i was 8 i think so almost 20 years ago. But whenever i think how sadness should be portrayed in songs it is mostly like this. Just an Piano and a Great singer singing with his or hers soul out.

ReoNa is my favorite Japanese Artist, her voice is soo nice to listen to. This song is so emotional and the performance is so emotional, when i listen to this song i listen to the version from the first take as it's more emotion that the studio recording. BTW for anyone curious, ReoNa's first take performances are on apple music just the audio for those that prefer it over the normal version of the song.

Now that i revisited this song again after few years, i interpret something that may or may not true: this song may referenced The Wizard of Oz.
Niji no Kanatani translates to Over the Rainbow, which is the title of soundtrack of the movie Wizard of Oz (1939)
The first part of the song referenced a rusty tin man who lost its heart under a curse
The next part referenced the cowardly lion which pretend to be strong
and then the next part referenced the scarecrow

I have rewatched this video of yours for a few times. Every single time I cannot not chuckle a bit because of your, "Renona Niji no Kanatinani". But it is even more hilarious because you said it the right way the first time😂. I guess when there are a bunch letters in a word you get it all mixed up (I know because at least three of my previous teachers having a hard time pronouncing my first name, which have one letter less than "Kanatani")

The most sad ending for me from the whole series in SAO also Shirushi is the one of song that i will cry if i played the scene again
Throughout the lyrics and the song you can pick up all the references to "The Wizard of Oz", you have the cowardly mane (Lion), the tin man, the scarecrow. the mention of far far away, and over the rainbow it's all there.
I count myself as a big SAO fan and I agree, the soundtrack is one of the absolute best. Both the OP and ED songs, as well as the classic score. But as for this song here, I don't think it matters much. Having lost someone, in whatever way, I think all of us can relate to. And for this situation alone, this song is the fitting 'soundtrack'. For those who know the anime, followed the story/journey up to this point, and have gotten involved with the characters, it therefore probably hits twice. At least, that's how I always feel.
I may be repeating myself, but this young woman has something very special from my point of view.

Kind of amusing that when I first saw the title of this video I had absolutely no idea what this song was, but right before the song started playing it dawned on me exactly what it was... and now my eyes are trying to sweat.
The song itself is emotional, and it really adds to what is probably the most emotional scene of the entire series to date. In fact, that scene still plays a big role in Kirito's character in this latest arc that hasn't even been animated yet.

I'm going to try to keep the spoilers as vague as possible so I can give to you some context about this song and why it means a lot to her.
As you pointed out, this is a song about losing someone. ReoNa's debut was being the singing voice of the character Elza Kanzaki in the SAO spin-off anime Gun Gale Online, and since then, she has been very close to the series. She even has a playable character in SAO Alicization Lycoris game.
This song plays during de ending of one of the episodes in which an important character is lost. This character is ReoNa's favorite, so this is her final goodbye to that character.

If you didnt know, SAO recently had its 10th anniversary and Reona, ASCA, and Aoi did a trio song called Soukyuu no Fanfare. Its a really solid song and i highly recommend it.
totally off topic but I am watching your NF reactions, and am on therapy session and your downing yourself about your reaction.......but it was perfect! no one should bop their heads in a happy dance! Your reaction was not boring at all!! I didn't hear about NF until this year! but honestly the first song you reacted to (The Search) legit saved my life. I listen to it every morning for the line "your mind is a powerful thing and what you put in it can affect you in a powerful way" I need to remind myself of that everyday. I have so many heavy things weighting me down and I am learning to focus on positive just because of that one verse!
The thing is Anime doesn't only make you happy and sad it also makes you angry or disturbs you .SAO got a lot of attention but unlike the most popular shows that are based on Shonen Manga (comics for teen boys ) .This was a novel adaptation so the writer wasn't restrained in what he can depict or not . So people got a taste of some unsavory genres . In short mainstream doesn't like negative emotions in their entertainment .So opinions are split on the show. IMO it takes some skill to piss people off in a not half assed way in fiction .

Just found your channel today, and I really love the content. Especially the energy, enthusiasm, and open mindedness you bring to every song. Gonna go binge some more of your videos, but I have a few recommedations:
-You should check out the openings/endings of "Durarara!!". There are some really cool songs I think you'd like. A personal favourite is "Uragiri no Yuuyake" by Theatre Brook, which got me to buy several of their full albums.
-If you haven't seen it, "Shelter" is a must watch. It's not an anime, but an original song by Porter Robinson & Madeon with an anime short film music video, which was made by a very legit anime studio.
-Something completely different: Speaking of how you can make so much music with so little. "Passionflower" by Jon Gomm is amazing. Sword Art Online is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the music vs the anime, the anime mostly is fairly light towards the start though it deals with some hard topics it portrays it in a more friendly way, but then you have certain seasons that emotionally hit very differently and that's where songs like this come from. all in all sword art early seasons are a good show to relax to and just have fun and watch but some of those later seasons are what i really enjoyed. since your looking to Listen to more Aimer the next one i would recommend would be Brave Shine from the Fate Series.
A lot of people hate on Sword Art Online just because of mob mentality. It is a very "okay" show with a great start and some great later moments when you're invested.

Great song. Great reaction. The feel of this song reminds me of a LiSA song called "Shirushi". It also on a part in season 2 of sword art online. The way the song hit and that part where Shirushi played hit me hard too. There is no First Take of it, but man you should check it out if you like "feels" songs. Anyway take care :). Oh and yes Sword Art has some dark themes in it and a lot of heartfelt parts for sure.

Yes, this song is about loss. There was no personal loss, but there was a character that died, as this song was playing softly in the background. Because it was a character that so many fans loved, that scene is the only time this song had played. Normally it's Forget-Me-Not, but Niji No Kanatani fucked us all up.
I think, at this point whatever one may think of SAO may come down to a simple point - would you trust that all these talented artists put their hearts into SAO's adaptation because they see in it something worth giving their heart to, or would you trust some random people on internet screaming that it's bad...

And yes - SAO's is as beautiful of a story as the soundtrack it has. It's literally adaptation of critically acclaimed Light novel of a decade. People that hate on it are mostly in the West, where a couple of YTers trashed on it with lies and misconceptions for easy likes... yeah...
