I just watched your first episode. As you said in a previous video, you and Kristi were certainly put here on this earth for one another! Fabulous chemistry between the two of you. Felt like we (the audience) were tagging along watching you shop. And it was great that you included comments from the store owner as well. I appreciate your wide ranging musical tastes. And there's nothing wrong with loving Flash Dance:) Congratulations on a great first episode, and best wishes for the two of you on your upcoming marriage!

No hates on Flashdance from me Kristi. Even up until this very day it still ranks as one of my favorite movie soundtracks. Love the songs on it as much now as when it first came out almost 40 years ago. It went on to sell 20 million copies worldwide!!! Plus it was nominated for 9 and won 3 Grammy Awards!!! We aren't the only two people who love it.

Hey Andrew, I'm an old school audiophile going back to the early 70's - in the biz off and on till '83. I've got around1200 records including a couple hundred 78's that people just started giving me because they assume "I collect records". (Also about 20,000 digital files) Anyway, I think you're a breath of fresh air - I read and watch all the usual rags and videos, but I've recommended some of your videos to non Audiophile friends. Grew up in San Antonio, went to UT Austin for a year - now live in Seattle. But your videos make me want to come back to Austin sometimes, although I have a decent record shop a block away. Keep up the good work!

Awesome idea for a video, 'cause I love me some crate diggin'. Bargains can occasionally be found if you have the patience. I recently found an original 1961 pressing of Cannonball Adderley & Bill Evans - Know What I Mean for $1.00 in near-new condition already inside an anti-static sleeve and the album itself was also in an outer sleeve. Keep it up; I love this type of video. As for the prices that I saw on some of those records, I can only say that I wish BLK Vinyl would open up here.

We're beginning to think that BLK Vinyl is a very special place indeed as people are commenting positively on their pricing. Maybe it's cheaper to visit Austin and buy all the records than shop in their home town?

Legit just scrolled back through the archives to find this as I’ve never seen your early early videos. Loved the way you two filmed this, seeing the fun you can have walking into an old record store to find some vinyl gems or one you didn’t know existed. I was hoping you were going to film Kristi handling the vinyl as I was about to learn for myself how not to handle them. I definitely wouldn’t have blown the dust off as if it was a Nintendo 64 game though haha

Just when I thought I couldn't love your channel and videos anymore you upload this absolute gem. So many giggles and nods of the head and really felt as though as I was there looking through the records with you.
Agree with your appraisal of Hall & Oates. They are one of my favourite ever bands and when I finally got to see them about five years ago I was really disappointed. The performance felt as if they were only there to collect their paycheck. Which is a bit weird as I can't imagine they would need the money with all the royalty cheques coming in. Oh well...
On the subject of MP3s and other audio files, I've never paid for them and never will. I've collected records since I was able to afford to buy them in my teens and will happily pay for the physical product. I want to be able to touch the record and pull it out of its sleeve and read the liner notes on the back cover and/or sleeve. Just my two dollars worth for what it's worth :-).
P.S. I'm sorry to say but there is no better way of storing and searching vinyl records in a store. You just need to work on your technique ;-).

I missed this video somehow, but glad I did an archival find. I bought the Flashdance soundtrack when on a bin diving excursion. It was there, went back to it twice, bought it as a "guilty pleasure", cost 99cents. It is in great condition. I've only played it twice since, but glad it's in my collection of movie soundtracks. Kristi, sorry you had a horrible experience at your Hall & Oats concert. I had the same at a Yes concert at Madison Square Garden. That experience damaged me from any other live rock concert except when I had to go back for George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh. But still, I only go to live jazz performances at intimate music venues. I also found the Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life album, Andrew, while thrift store bin diving for $1.50. Again, excellent condition. So good! I smiled through this entire video. You're a dynamic couple. BLK is a great throwback to the "vintage" record shops, and it doesn't seem as though they're trying to take advantage of the resurgence of this format by price gouging. Thanks for sharing your adventure, and BLK for accommodating you.

Should've gotten Billy Joel Cold Spring Harbor... my friends dad growing up was Billy's piano teacher and I'd go over his house and Billy would come over and jam. Heard Billy play Piano Man in my friends living room... seriously. CSH is Billy's first LP and the recording studio recorded his voice at the wrong speed. Sounds almost like a chipmunk. It is an awesome LP with amazing songs even if Billy's voice sounds high.

8:40 I once bought a lot of interesting albums with a stamp "D. H. Burgen" on the back of the album covers from my local Salvation Army Thrift Store. He collected lots of Bossa Nova, Latin, and exotica albums and he had great taste, so a big shout out to D.H. Burgen wherever you are. See? You can't say that when one simply streams or downloads an album. :)

Nice video, BLK looks like a great store. We had a store in town but sadly it didn't last. Dumb question, but does BLK sell CDs? I seen what looked like an upstairs and thought maybe there was more music up there.
The album that says Rock n Roll Nights is a Bachman Turner Overdrive album, of the same title. I bought a CD boxset of BTO's albums for some reason, "Heartaches" is a decent tune but the rest is not so great.
Great video, hope you two do a second one!

Hi there - greetings from Singapore - Love your channel. Anyway - listened to this video on my MacBook Pro 15 inch built-in speakers during my work from home day, I kept on checking my actual hifi speakers behind me to see if anything else was on as I was getting this background music that sounds like it was coming from behind me - how did you do this? was this intentional? that is actually very cool!!

My dad gave me all his records, including a sealed copy of Songs in the Attic. I’m assuming it’s sealed because he just never listened to it. Not that he was saving it or anything. Now, I’m not particularly into Billy Joel, so the question is: do I even open it at this point??

Andrew Robinson it is all coming back to me now. True Lies with Arnold. That is up there as one of my favourite 80’s action flicks. You made a cameo in that movie? If not must have been some other work of yours that triggered my spider sense maybe spy kids behind the scenes interviews. That is cool I dig the vinyl content.
