Levi beats on Jacori - Jacori isn’t that good
Levi beats on Keegan - keep that same energy with the 174 rankings 😅
I just think Levi is super solid everywhere where Jacori relies so much on his explosiveness and athleticism but Levi is just too sound defensively and is a nightmare matchup for him. I think putting Kasak above Meyer and Jacori is a bit of a reach but I think we have a guy or two climb the rankings and surprise us come NCAAs

I already have Levi above Keegan. But seriously go back and watch the match, Levi made Jacori, who is a phenomenal wrestler, look like crap.

@@michaellong2595not even. It’s just Jacori took a total of ZERO shots. Didn’t take a single risks and Jordan Burroughs says this himself.
He had zero offense and that’s why he lost. It’s not like he got out skilled. There was no skill to show because he didn’t try, he was content, maybe nervous? Watching him at WNO, he’s always had a slow pace with a defensive style. However, it wasn’t about wrestling like crap, more so him wrestling against a wrestler who is going to get after it like Levi Haines. Maybe hopefully he takes a damn shot and maybe he’ll win a title but Meyer Shapiro is better on his feet than Levi is so that might be a hard task for him.

In my opinion that wouldn’t be the ideal move. Kasak has the potential to be NCAA champion.

@@kevintowers8006 I agree that it would not be the move for Penn State to have their best performance, but I think that they are so far ahead of other teams, they can afford to redshirt Kasak. My two cents is that Penn State will use this as a way to burn some eligibility and begin to clear up the log jam of the talent they have with the incoming talent they will soon be getting.

@@kevintowers8006Great question. I think Alex had a solid, not great season in 2023. He took 7th at Big 10s, beat some quality wrestlers throughout the season and dropped the ball at NCAAs. But based off his high school success, his time in the Penn State room, his close relationship with Kyle Dake and that he would be competing down a weight class compared to 2023, I would say he could reasonably All American

@michaellong2595 Fair point. Oklahoma State and Penn State are ostensibly going to be beating up on Iowa for a while. The Brands brothers do have won 3 team championships, so they are definitely successful. They just haven't been good at getting national champions. Ayala lost, Real lost, Warner lost, Jaydin Eierman lost, as well as Kemmerer. Real and Jaydin would have been better at their original schools, in my opinion. I mean, Stanford and Mizzou have both produced champions.

Let’s talk about Meyer Shapiro for a minute
    - Nobody said last year that Meyer was going to blow through the NCAAs last year and it wouldn’t be close. Not true. We thought he had a good shot to make the finals and maybe…maybe had a shot against Haines.
    - Olympic trials: Meyer had zero interest in even being there. He walks around at 154 lbs. This is a fact. He was wrestling 74kg which is guys sucking down to a weight that is 10’pounds more than his walk around weight. He just got done with a killer college season of 33 matches and didn’t want to go but coaches insisted he go.
All I ever hear is how Meyer is inconsistent and up and down , or Meyer has no gas tank, or which Meyer will show up. Give me a break! Do you have any idea the season he had last year? Refresher
    Meyer Shapiro true freshman year
    -30-3
    -70% bonus rate
    - Had a 20 match win streak
    - EIWA champion
-16 wins over ranked opponents (most in the country)
    - Bonused 11 of those 16 vs ranked
3 losses (2 at CKLV while concussed 2-1 Trumbley and 8-6 to Cardenas). Other loss was to Cardenas 5-4 at ncaas. Was up 3-0 then tossed on head and evaluated for another concussion
    - Avenged 2 of the 3 losses in the 3rd place match handling Cardenas 10-4
-scored 10th most team pts of anyone at ncaas. More than all runner ups and one champ.
    -His NCAAs
    Fall over Washleski
Tech fall over Askey (after Askey just had majored Chittum).
    Loss to Cardenas 5-4
    Major over Franek 11-2
    Major over Lovett 13-5
    Fall over Andonian
    Dec over Cardenas 10-4
He beat Andonain 3x, also beat Ed Scott 7-2, Brock Mauller 14-4, Paddy Gallagher 15-0 and Jude Swisher 15-0.
I hear how he can’t put a tournament worth of matches together yet he is a U17 and U20 world champion and he went 5-1 at ncaas with 4 bonus wins and a 6 pt decision along with blowing through the conferences of course.
Meyer will not lose to Kasak this year. My guess is Facundo will start. Kasak is tough and had a great run at ncaas but he did lose first round to Stephen Abas so he isn’t this dude that is going to just bump up a weight and knock off Meyer, Teemer or even Cardenas. Maybe Cardenas. Just depends on if he is allowed to hang on guys from the top position for an entire period like he did vs Meyer twice. Third match official didn’t allow it and we saw what happened then.

I have a feeling you’re a big fan of Meyer and it shows. Also wondering how you got that information of him walking around 154 LBS. How exactly did you get the information of him not wanting to go? Did you ask him?
I’m a big Meyer fan, so… I won’t try and disagree with a thing you said. Some of this… is interesting though. He’s my national title pick, if he stays healthy. One of if not the best wrestler on his feet. His gas tank isn’t bad but someone like Mesenbrink might tire him out. Jacori has no offense to beat Meyer, he had the explosive to score, just not the offense to go all 7 minutes. Tyler Kasak, you said it yourself, I also agree. He’s not beating Meyer and he might not even beat Jacori.
Tyler will get better though, acting like him losing first round wasn’t a weird loss is mind boggling. He’s only going to get better and more consistent being at Penn St.
Alex Facundo certified last year at 157. Don’t know if he can still make that weight though. He’s pretty big as is. He just beat Haines at 74kg. I don’t think he beats Haines in Folk Style and I don’t think he touched Mesenbrink. So yes, his best chance is 157 and I think he’s technically better than Kasak on the feet. Kasak is a better rider, or they’re about even. Hopefully Facundo can HEALTHILY make 157.

The best line up for penn st looks like:
      125: Luke Lilledahl
      133: Braeden Davis
      141: Beau Bartlett
      149: Shane Van Ness
      157: Alex Facundo/Tyler Kasak
      165: Mitchell Mesenbrink
      174: Levi Haines
      184: Carter Starocci
      197: Conner Mirasola/Josh Barr
      HWT: Greg Kerk
Redshirt, Joe Sealey, Zack Ryder, and Cole Mirasola
Coming in: PJ Duke, Nathan Desmond, and a handful of others.
Facundo hasn’t been 157 since high school in 2017… I don’t know if he makes it healthily but I guess we’ll see. Meyer wins the weight regardless. Looks like he put in some mass.

@CACTUS-Wrestling Myer beat Cardenas pretty convincingly 10-4 the last time they wrestled. He took him down twice. I don't think he's worried about Cardenas in the slightest. 157 is wide open this year with Levi gone. I'm very interested to see how Kasak does in the Classic. I don't know if it's Facundo or Kasak that eventually starts full time but I know you have to have Myer at the top of this weight in my opinion to start the season. Kids a beast

      1.) Jacori Teemer
      2.) Meyer Shapiro
      3.) Tyler Kasak
Until proven otherwise. It’s pretty straight forward, the #2 moves to #1 and the #3 moves to #2. Whereas the #3 at a weight below fills outs #3 and the other rankings stay the same until proven otherwise.
