No matter how many colognes I continue to add to my collection there is something special to me about Versace the dreamer. It takes me back to being a kid in a hotel lobby when smoking was allowed indoors. The feeling you got in the 80’s/90’s going to Pizza Hut or the mall. Absolutely a timeless transportive scent

Versace the Dreamer… This fragrance smells like nothing else on the market. It feels like 1980’s Miami in a bottle. So unique and familiar at the same time. Back when people used to be able to smoke on planes and doing coke was luxurious. I will buy a bottle every time I stumble across one now.

Still sampling The Dreamer, not sure about a full bottle just yet. Just about everything about this frag is surprising. The evolution and the tobacco note is just amazing, though. I wore it to sleep and it had a peaceful, calming effect. Still looking for the ultimate non-sweet tobacco frag, but this is pretty up there, almost in a category of its own. Diamonds, 💎💎💎💎💎👍👍 A hidden gem. 😎 Awesome vid, Ash. L'Eau Bleue de Issey is in fact the only Issey Miyake fragrance I have so far. I think bottle should have been rather dark green, or even grey or black, but not blue. The smell with the rosemary to me has a tea-like nuance, very relaxing, a la Zen. In my opinion a great all rounder of a fragrance!

When I first got into collecting fragrances and stopped being a "one bottle guy" I would see the majority of these all the time. I passed on all of them, except for The Dreamer, because all I saw were bad review after bad review talking about reformulation and how they're junk now.
I wish I wouldn't have passed on them because now I know the majority of the time when people talk about reformulations they're just trying to sound like they know something.

I feel like The Dreamer is almost like an improvement on Le Male, which is awesome because it's cheaper. It smells somewhat similar, but the tobacco completely changes it and just makes it smell more interesting IMO. It doesn't have the mint I don't think, but they both make heavy use of lavender and just generally seem to be built similarly, which makes sense since The Dreamer came out right after Le Male, which was an immediate success and everyone seemed to want to come out with something similar.

I'm quite the newbie (at an advanced age) to all this but quite fascinated, and I've made my few initial purchases with which I'm mostly delighted. A question: would you similarly call Hermes' H24 a "stand out from its own brand"? I've sniffed the Terre d'Hermes varieties (and bought the Eau Vetiver Intense as the others were far too in-your-face citrusy for me), and when I sniffed H24, well...oh MY. Not like anything I've ever smelled anywhere any time. Certainly nothing like the Terre d"Hermes line, and I'm guessing it's nothing like anything else Hermes either, simply because, to my inexperienced nose, it's nothing like anything I've ever smelled in my life. Definitely not love at first sniff, but...yes, I finally bought it and it has grown on me remarkably. No way it can be a "signature scent" for me, but it's just the thing for when the mood hits.

Lalique L'Insoumis itself is great. Lalique is a very artsy house.
I have and like Versace Dreamer, and it may stand out away from their house standard, but its DNA is very similar to Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme, Chanel Allure Homme, and Burberry London. I have and like them all.
Dior Dune Pour Homme is fantastic. Smells like I've been climbing a fig tree all day. Fig leaf and fig tree bark. I wish it had a nice big fat juicy sweet fig fruit note on top. Its VERY green as it is. Its artsy and Dior should never discontinue it.
Paco Rabanne Pour Homme is one of my least favorite classic "barbershop" fougeres in my 50+ barbershop Fougere collection because it smells like cheap laundry soap to me.
Oh, and I like Amouage Bracken Man, that stands out in relief somewhat from the Amouage usual. It's very similar to Houbigant Fougere Royale 2010 as a classic Fougere, but is even more earthy/rooty/soil/muddy dark green. Very well done by Amouage. It smells like the burial/dumping ground for mob hits - a marsh/swamp. They could have named this Jimmy Hoffa's Resting Place. Lol.

I'm not even completely joking either, I think a lot of people associate that color with strong, mature fragrances generally.
