This is when I met Dana... Back in the early 80's at Drew University when he was performing at The Improv in NYC. He was cute and funny and aspiring to be on Johnny Carson.
I was hoping I would find this on youtube. I remember seeing it on Turkey TV in my younger days back in the 1980...I was like 12 years old when this was on tv
I used to watch this on Turkey TV also. So glad you have other stand-up bits from the show too. I love all his material about reminiscing about being a kid. I agree completely about the song. This is the best rendition of Choppin' Broccoli I've ever seen him do.
God, this made me laugh watching on Nick summer '86. Delighted me a few months later when Mary Hart announced his name among new cast-members on SNL! Saw "Choppin' Broccoli" on his first show and said "heyyy!" Needless to say, did not disappoint....
I can see why on the Dana Carvey / David Spade podcast so many of their peers say such great things about Danas comedy from early on. He had a ton of confidence! Which is interesting because they sometimes talk about the huge confidence that Adam Sandler seemed to have when he arrived at SNL.. but if you look at clips of young Adam doing standup he doesn't have a ton of confidence.
