    With preloaded maps I can't use it dor driving navigation? I guess i have to add a dedicated map since enabling the ones are already in doesn't work. Are there any free maps for driving navigation? such as open street maps for hiking

    My Etrex 22x does not have a Route Planning icon? Neither does it have a MOB icon.

    A great set of Vids. Many thanks. I have just brought a Etrex 32X and want to load up my route - GPX format from my pc. Can you show how to do that please

      Check my garmin tutorials playlist, I’ve done several over the year, I think you’ll find the most recent one for GPX about a year ago

    What Dora p. Ronton mean and what is etrex support?

    At 2:00 your menu shows the option “elevation plot”. On my etrex 30x with software 3.0 this option is not shown. I can just plot the elevation of tracks that i have walked but I don’t know how to plot a planned route and can’t find a solution online. Has anybody been able to do this on a 30x or is this a 32x only feature?

    Thanks a lot! Got the 32x today, and i cant believe i have not gotten something like this sooner. Those cellphones use so much power they are only suitable for short trips... The 32x has much better battery life than the 35x with touch screen, and together with a compact camera with good battery life, it opens up for using the "high end" (powerfilm) solar panels for charging ones equipment on longer bikepacking trips :P

    Am I able to input the grid references of my 6 camp sites over a 40 mile hike?

    Thanks for video. I just bought Garmin etrex22x and am learning how to use it. If I want to hike a trail and it already appears on the topoactive map, and the gps tells me where I am relative to this trail, is there a reason I wouldn’t just navigate with that? Why should I go the extra steps to create a route?

    • @AvoidingChores
      @AvoidingChores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is optional in that case but some will use it when paddling or in winter where the trail isn’t as obvious to make sure they are in track

      I have done about 800 hikes using etrex 10 and etrex 20. I have never used routes. I don't see the point of this function for hikers. I have downloaded maps and then start walking the trail.

    Hello and thank you for the video. I have an eTrex 32X. When using the Where To feature and attempting to navigate for example to a point of interest and after triggering the calculate route (go) I keep receiving the same message over and over again " Detailed Maps do not support automotive or motorcycle driving". The unit actually gets stuck and beeps 10 15 time before allowing to go back to the main menu. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thank you. If I find a solution I will share here.

      That’s because the topo active map that’s on the device really only supports navigation that is for off-road so hiking, atv & mountain bike. it won’t support automotive or motorcycle however if you slap in another map either via SD card you be able to route using car or motorcycle j

    Great video! Also, maybe you can clarify me one question. Does the Etrex 32X support cadence only sensors? The etrex 30x only supports speed/cadence combo sensors such as the garmin gsc 10. If you can/have the chance to try could you answer me?
    Thanks

    Can i use OSM map on etrex22 for routing ?

  • @sagarthapa3765

    Can it do it highway routing too? Like long distance highway routing?

    • @AvoidingChores
      @AvoidingChores  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes but you’ll need another map product, the pre-loaded one (TopoActive) won’t do highway driving.

      @@AvoidingChores I have put a route on the device via Base Camp and each waypoint has a proximity of 10 meters, (i chose that 10m in base camp) I will let you know if it makes a sound.

    Hi Jim, how do you go to the start of your route? By your self or can the device do that for you?

    • @AvoidingChores

      yes, it will navigate you to the start point

    • @AvoidingChores

      Yup it *should* be the same, I made a similar video for the etrex 20 a few years ago. th-cam.com/video/gAz4DcKmfW8/w-d-xo.html

    As mentioned by another commenter, I don't understand the point of routes. If you have a downloaded map then you just follow the route on the map. I guess the only reason you would use routes is if there are no downloaded maps on your device. Then you would create the route on your computer and then follow the route. Can't see why anyone would buy such a device and not have some downloaded maps.
