thank you, this is a great demonstration of half lap joints and appropriate use of a taper jig 👍🏽 the final result looks great. I will apply this approach to making some stands for my plants. also I love your workshop attire, fits you very nicely
Sweet! Adapted to my dimensions, this stand design will make a nice complement to my DIY Black Berkey gravity filter. Thanks for another great project. Cheers!
Great instructional video on a variety of woodworking techniques. Although your project would work with any species I am curious what you used. It looks like cherry and if so, that was an interesting idea for finishing what can be a blotchy wood.
@woodworkingwithSkyler it turned out cute. If you made a similar half lap part way down, you would not only make it even stronger but you can put a plant on it or if you have pets, it would be a perfect spot for their water bowl!
Im learning a lot from this video Skyler. I need to finish it in the morning since I’m the chef of the day, but this video is jam packed full of some things I’ve not done before. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. They’re so informative. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Skyler, Thanks for posting this video. The stand looks great in your house. I can imagine it in my hallway with a big plant on top 😊. Regarding the 5 degree angles were they only at the bottom of the feet and the ends of the cross pieces? And were all the 5 degree angle pieces cut at the miter saw? Lastly, what wood species did you use? Again, nicely done!
@@marshallgeller8025 thank you. 5 degrees went to bottom and top of legs parallel to each other and the end of cross pieces ( that’s what puts the legs in an angle). Wood was cherry I bought from Hardwoods of Tennessee for $2.67 bft
Once seeing it in place, I'd make one augment if I did the project again. Add a shelf in the bottom section, a light diminutive shelf of course, but it would add great space to set something useful or decorative on, given it's height I think it needs something there.
Great job. Thank you 😊

@ thank you Skyler. I think for a plant stand, I would add another cross lap joint towards the bottom and add a second plant level.
That’s a great idea
Beautiful stand Good Job.🙂🙂
