I started listing to New Wave music in 1980. Amazingly enough, one of the first recordings I heard was of a New Wave band from Japan, THE PLASTICS. I loved their compositional technique where, for many of their songs, English lyrics were combined with lyrics in Japanese. From that time to the present (January 2022), I was and remain hooked on NEW WAVE music. Regarding, BLACK OUT FALL OUT by the Polysics, I could listen to this song and watch the video twice every single day for the next few years, and never get tired of the song and video. Kayo (singer and keyboard artist) is so charming and curiously sad-looking. AND WOW ! I love the singing steamed bun, the singing tofu, and the singing hamburger, and when Kayo gets a little cut on her finger, her cut starts singing. As is the case with THE PLASTICS, the lyrics for BLACK OUT FALL OUT include lyrics in Japanese and in English. Okay, and so after listening to The Plastics, I became permanently addicted to other New Wave groups, including Devo, Talking Heads, Orchestral Manoevres in the Dark, The B52's, and Bow Bow Wow ("I Want Candy"), Human League (love their song, "Darkness"), Madness, Buzzcocks, Altered Images, Kraftwerk, and most of all, MY LIFE IN THE BUSH OF GHOSTS by Byrne & Eno. - - - Tom Brody, Ph.D., Berkeley, CA
My absolute favorite POLYSICS song! This song takes me back to my early high school days when a friend of mine showed me POLYSICS for the first time and I fell in love with their sound. I would listen to this song all day on repeat and never got tired of it. Something about the sorta melancholy tone of it just transports me to very relaxing and happy place.
@1:45 I cannot emphasize how much I love this part of the song, it starts with the melody as the guitar takes over and you immediately feel the melancholy and anger in each note only for the keyboard to take over those same emotions and amplify them even more while the guitar keeps playing in a dissonant tone in the background. Then the guitar just blows out and when there is nothing else for the keyboard to say the melody takes over again. Just fucking beautiful.
Someone would go and turn one of my favorite songs into a music video that can only be described as exactly what would happen to me if I was working in a cafeteria while listening to this song on lsd. I love it!
I absolutely love this song, and I'm partial to this version. Kayo's part is so sad (moreso if you know the language, I can only imagine) and altogether, the chorus seems like a call to break away at best, or to just implode at worst.

I remember there used to be eyeballs....?
2:27 こっからトラウマ
Has this been the only POLYSICS video created without the use of eye shields?
The synth sound in this reminds me so much of another song but I can’t remember what it is! Maybe an intro to an early 2000th series? Or anime?
I was like this when I popped a huge Vicodin at work. Most beautiful, stale sandwiches I've ever made!
湯ぎりはこのリズムでやります!
If a child ask you "What is art?" you should show him this video.
I cut my finger once and it did the same thing. It was the lemon juice that did it. Try it. Not really.
