I find the "pick a style" guy kind of ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, it's perfectly valid to not like a group. But why should an artist/band be forced to pick one style when they're obviously skilled in multiple? It's not indecision, it's exploration. Like if an artist uses oil paint and also uses watercolor. I don't understand limiting music groups to just one style when it can be really cool to see their interpretation of multiple :|

Lost all respect for Austin when he said that mamamoo don’t know their style. What is wrong with versatility? Just cause Ya faves over here are too scared to try new genres don’t mean it’s a bad thing to experiment!. Mamamoo’s confidence is their style if anything, in every song what stands out is their TALENTS and their confidence as a group. They each have their own image and come together and it’s fking beautiful. They’re having fun making music and celebrate different genres which is freaking awesome. I’ve learned to appreciate more forms of music because of Mamamoo! They’re QUEENS
Mamamoo can do any genre they want because they have the talent to pull it off. You cannot put real talent in a small box and tell them “that’s all you should be doing, stay in that box”. I believe most of the talented members of kpop groups are in those tiny boxes and they can’t do anything about it. I’m so glad that the Mamamoo girls are very lucky to be in an agency that is actually letting them be the artists that they are.

mamamoo is known as a vocal group so of course they're not just going to stick with one concept only but instead they showcase many different styles that they can pull off. they're so diverse and that's what makes them stand out from among the rest of the girl groups.
I listen to a bit of k-pop here and there, but I have not found a girl group that I like. Until right now.

Usually during the first few years, a group/artist will have their own style and genre. As the members grow older, they experiment with new concepts and styles to make things interesting for them and their fans.
For Mamamoo, they had a fairly retro vibe at the start. Now they're maturing and experimenting (:

Fun fact: in south korea they're known as ARTISTS and not just as idols because they can actually sing, rap and dance, and also they're able to participate in the production of their own music. Besides that, they are known for not having just one genre, and because of that people in sk created something called "mamamoo genre", refered to "a style that only mamamoo can do".

This is what Kpop is, they don’t just pick one kinda music genre and do the same thing over and over again until their career is over like most pop music. Kpop is a very diverse genre. They do different things. Whether it’s R&B, Rock, Chill, Soft Pop, Cute, Girl Crush, Badass etc. whatver. This is why theirs always something for every type of person. Maybe your into [insert music genre] so there are some songs for you or maybe your into [insert another music genre] so there are some songs for you. It keeps fans interested, like you never get bored bcuz there’s always something new to see. It’s really cool and part of the reason I like kpop. The most diverse groups I can think of FOR NOW are BTS, Stray Kids, Seventeen, Red Velvet, Mamamoo etc. This makes kpop a little more special in my heart.
Mamamoo have so much to show, they want to experiment any music genres instead of standardise the group into one. Each single member is an artist that's why they can embark in this 4 seasons project. Since when I listen to their music I love and appreciate myself more as a woman, they're such a role models

Mamamoo are legends that have experienced with pop, jazz, reggaeton, and so many other flavors. They can be spicy, hot one moment and then make you cry with a ballad. Mamamoo are diversifying kpop in so many ways, and in doing that, they are diversifying Korean culture. When they were on Idol Room recently, they said that they can (and have) do everything. And it's true.
So...no. Mamamoo doesn't have one style of music. Mamamoo IS style. MAMAMOO IS LEGENDARY.

I think being able to do different styles is one of Mamamoo's strengths and lot of people, including myself, love that about them.
I love Mamamoo so much. It's been almost 10 years since I first started listening to Kpop, but never in my life had I ever "stanned" anyone as I have with Mamamoo. They are so unique. They are not only talented in every aspect, but they are all also very charismatic. The members are so compatible with one another, and their relationship with their fans is amazing. They also make me extremely happy. I found then during a difficult time in my life, and they really comforted me and gave me many reasons to want to live. Anyway, STAN MAMAMOO. I promise that you will not regret it!

I felt embarrassed for him when he kept saying that. When you think of a lot of the respected artists like Madonna or MJ even if it was all pop music, they were great because they still brought that versatility that meant their music never got old, always had something new to offer whilst showcasing their talents in many different ways.
His criticism was so weird to me, like he thinks that you need to set limits on the things you produce as an artist. Music is a CREATIVE art for gods sake and artists should always be willing to explore, improve and perhaps even innovate.

Mamamoo is one of the most versatile groups in kpop today and they've done so many genres such as seen in the videos reacted above. It's not about not knowing who they are, rather it is about exploration of self. They can be flirty, confident, powerful, but also soft, doing ballads but also doing badass raps as well.
The girls are also involved in making their choreography, composing and writing their songs, such as moonbyul writing almost all her raps.
As a big fan of mamamoo, what i love about their music is that they've done all sorts of genre so effortlessly, that the idea of concept itself is thrown away. The girls are also quite playful with their songs such as having songs about 1cm jokes, dad jokes and the badass rap song here is about sleeping in the car. Known as Trust and Believe Mamamoo as they're dubbed in Korea, Mamamoo broke a label for kpop groups and transcends into their own artistry.

Artist like Mamamoo explore styles and branch out. Being confined to one style makes the artist burned out and tired. Artistry is not keeping yourself in one space, it’s walking around and exploring. The girls aren’t afraid to do just that, and that’s what makes them special.
Norsaferi Artistry is excelling in your style, Picasso didn't start making rennaissance paintings. Van Gogh didn't make baroque paintings, Van Beethoven didn't make folk music. You pick a style and become the best at it, that's artistry. If you just pick and choose you just get a lot of generic works.

As a MooMoo since they debuted, I am so happy they finally reacted to my favorite kpop group of all time. I only wished they showed the Immortal songs performances because those are some of their all time best live performances. But hey I am just glad you guys are helping get Mamamoo's name out there. They are so beyond talented and they deserve to be recognized by the world!! MooMoo for life!!

Why do they have to pick a style, when they can slay all the genres? It makes us fans more curious about what they will come up with later. Also their title tracks are more serious and mainstream whereas the b-side tracks are always a surprise for their fans. Their live stages are so extra too.

first of all, its very common in kpop to artists to experiment and make music in different genres, styles and concepts and I don’t see anything wrong with that. Secondly, almost 90% of kpop groups have agencies and production companies that decide their music & music videos choices so it’s not like they chose it themselves and STAN MAMAMOO STAN TALENT
although in Mamamoo's case, they do choose the songs themselves
not typical except mamamoo. They have a lot of input in their album production. Mamamoo has the most writing credits for a 3rd gen girl groups n even in 1st n 2nd gen girl groups. They also have one of tge most composing credits n even actively participate in making their choreographies. They were termed as "self sown idols" for that very reason
I don't understand why they have to 'pick a style'. Just because a majority of people like to stick with a certain type of music, doesn't mean everyone have to do it.

While I don’t think he understands the level of talent mamamoo possess, I get where he might be coming from. Sometimes you want a music group with a strong identity. The thing is they do have a style (jazz), and sometimes they veer outside that.
The fact is American artists do different things all the time, especially the truly talented ones like Childish Gambino. He probably criticized more because he doesn’t really know the culture or the language so it’s easy to think they’re all over the place when there’s a pattern
Isn’t that the whole idea of being an artist? To experiment and be creative? And they do have their own unique style to every song they make, they just like playing around with different genres 🤷♀️

They keep talking about a group genre and concept. But in Kpop, using the same concept over and over again, will get you criticized. Unless you already label yourself as example, "a ballad group" "an indie group". Almost all kpop group try a lots of concept and genre. But for one group, they always have their own "colour". Like Mamamoo, despite already do retro, jazz etc concept, their colour is "the group with powerful vocal song and spontaneous stage act".
And I think that's the beauty of it, staying with the same colour while doing variety of concept and genre. It means they can pull everything well.
Mamamoo is everything, like they can do different style. They're not just pretty face but pure talents. I don't consider them idol anymore but they already grew as an artists. Mamamoo jjang 👍🏼
