Im Fae Dundee & I Love Stories About Witches & Really Enjoyed This Wee Bit Of History From Scotland So Thanks For Posting
Great wee story, is there some kind of book or booklet giving more details about the history of Witches and other occult in Saltcoats?
Most of the info came from one wee paragraph in the book Legendary Ayrshire which you can get online.
I was born and bred in Ardrossan so it followed that, along with Saltcoats.became the stomping grounds of my formative years.I moved away many moons ago but still have memories that are as fresh and vibrant as the times in which they were made..Thank you for this wee nugget of history. Best Wishes.Philip Frey formally of Ardrossan Academy and of course..The Melbourne Cafe haha which at the time was the place to see and be seen for all us youngsters. Eating Burgers and drinking Alice Coopers. Bliss.
Thanks for your reply, will look forward to listening to more of your tales. Cheers
Was just in Saltcoats and I too have moved away from the shore but I was very sad at what it has become. Seems not a lot of investment in the town and the people has taken its toll
There’s a place in the old cemetery in Saltcoats it’s a plaque that supposedly said the witches burning place.
Hi Grace, Yeah this is the plaque featured in the video but sadly it’s badly eroded away and impossible to read.
@@aidanlynn I know I pass it a lot.always try to see if I can see anything.i wonder if there’s anything inside of the museum that tells you what it said before it eroded.
Another gem 💎
Watched first episode of the Salem witch trials programme on Sky History right now. It's crazy to think Salem in America is so famous for witch trials when only 19 people were executed. In Europe hundreds of thousands were executed.
About 2500 people were executed in Scotland which is crazy considering how small our population is.
😂 So, the 3 towns mentality was booming even back then?? Stories growing arms and legs.. lol
Not much changed!! 😂
