Bilal is just projecting his inability or unwillingness to actually build a deep level connection onto her. He doesn’t even try to form a connection or open up with her. Instead, he spends most of the time lecturing her, taking subtle jabs at her, or looking for opportunities to confirm his own belief that she’s just trying to use him for his money.
As someome who grew up in poverty, i understand the value of a ride or die relationship. I saw my parents go through it all together and they're still together now and ever since i was a child I decided I wouldn't settle for someone who would leave me at the first sign of a struggle. However there is a difference between having standards and being insecure. I really sympathise with his fears but he really should go to therapy because his actions are driving people away. Bilal is just projecting his inability or unwillingness to actually build a deep level connection onto her. He doesn’t even try to form a connection or open up with her. Instead, he spends most of the time lecturing her, taking subtle jabs at her, or looking for opportunities to confirm his own belief that she’s just trying to use him for his money.

As someome who grew up in poverty, i understand the value of a ride or die relationship. I saw my parents go through it all together and they're still together now and ever since i was a child I decided I wouldn't settle for someone who would leave me at the first sign of a struggle. However there is a difference between having standards and being insecure. I really sympathise with his fears but he really should go to therapy because his actions are driving people away. He see's it as protection but its self sabotaging.

Constantly testing someone is so gross. Its due to them being incredibly insecure. Other people hurt him and now he wont allow himself to trust someone unless they prove themselves, and even then, he still wont ever trust them fully. He feels like a failure if he allows himself to be vulnerable, and especially if he gets hurt by it.
