I understand where Scott’s coming from. Post-COVID I’ve been doing some traveling in Europe. These countries are full of foreigners who don’t speak American. It’s unbelievable. And in Greece they even have a different alphabet. The Greek alphabet. How dare they? Can’t they get with the program and use American words and letters like normal people?
I sometimes run across this where a foreigner abroad where its not just language but they seem to understand, in their mind, the entire world is the same as their home country BUT with different looking clothes and hair and weird signs. My problem with Scott is that he doesn't want to put any effort into a meaningful relationship, he wants something easy and convenient. It's clear from the way he acts that Scott hasn't put any time, energy, or consideration into learning at least the very basics of Lidia's language or culture. In my opinion, (as a Canadian dating a Latino), if he truly cared about her and was considering marriage, he would have at LEAST put some effort into learning some basic Spanish and buying her a gift without being prompted to by his mother. 😮💨

It just doesn't work that way.

I understand where Scott’s coming from. Post-COVID I’ve been doing some traveling in Europe. These countries are full of foreigners who don’t speak American. It’s unbelievable. And in Greece they even have a different alphabet. The Greek alphabet. How dare they? Can’t they get with the program and use American words and letters like normal people?
I sometimes run across this where a foreigner abroad where its not just language but they seem to understand, in their mind, the entire world is the same as their home country BUT with different looking clothes and hair and weird signs. The DR is just California but with funny looking fake money. For whatever reasons, I do find this among Americans, Mainland Chinese and some classes of Brits but its a kind of odd phenomenon. Often when they see something different they identify it as a 'mistake' being made by whoever runs the place or that the place must be 'backwards' and doesn't even know how to (example, use the Roman alphabet) they must not have advanced that far yet, they still use some backwards letters.
