Truthfully not sure how you only have 500 subs! I 100% thought you had 100k+ with how professionally made and masterfully executed this short film was! Nailed it brother!
Dude not only your improvement in just 30 days is incredible but the video editing is insane, I can't believe you have less than 1000 subs, keep it up!
Oh man this was such a blast to watch, last year I switched after 15 years of snowboarding to skiing. You nailed it! Keep it going! I went through similar journey, and after about 50 skiing days I figured it out and started to enjoy it!
Why is no one talking about the fact you've learnt to fully parallel ski in under 30 days?! That progress is INSANE man! I know people who've been skiing for years who are 'worse' than you! Not to mention the editing is FIRE. You'll be at 1000 subs before December, I'm sure of that!
@@TheRyanMcDowell Yeah, you already seemed comfortable on the snow even before putting on skies (obviously, if you’re a decent snowboarder lol). Still mega impressive though!
Hi, former ski instructor here! So most people go on vacation to go skiing for a week a year, which then gives you 5-6 days of actually skiing. When the next time comes around you need to spend 1-2 days getting back into it and maybe with some improvement by the end of the week, which will be gone by the next year when you start. Meaning that you never really maintain any progress or muscle strength. But if you're on a mountain everyday for multiple weeks, your body get trained and stronger for skiing. then again this doesn't apply to everyone, some people will never learn and others take 1 day.
@@EAGmesander Yeah I did think about that. When I go skiing abroad it’s only for a week or less and I only go skiing abroad at most once per year. Because I live in the UK and near to the Chill Factore I can go skiing indoors at a really good centre but again, I only go there around 5 times per year, for an hour or so at most each time. The guy’s probably done the same amount of skiing (consistently) in 30 days as I have in the last 2 years (lmao). Still impressive, though!
Show us a video of your snowboarding skills. If you're some sort of pro, this progression makes sense. Insane!! I can't believe how good you got, i loved that you showed the hard work/reps as humor in between.. great editing
I rarely comment on videos, but this deserves one. Amazing storytelling and cinematography! I am also learning to ski this year having been snowboarding my whole life. I hope to be able to get a black diamond in this season!
Normally I dont subscribe to single videos like this. But as soon as I saw this video I changed my mind. Your whole video from the editing to what you filmed was great. You will get to 1 Million subs one day. Keep up the work!
BROOOOOOOOOO I watched this video and subbing now but legit thought you had 710K not just 710. Absolutley under rated! Insane edit work man, camera skills are on point and also skiing looks really good on you!
That was really good... not sure why you don't have more subs - the camera work was excellent, and for once you weren't trying to take the p!ss out of skiing like so many others doing this crossover stuff on TH-cam like to do. I think your basic balance and coordination skills, plus lack of fear on the steeper slopes and jumps also comes from your snowboarding experience and possibly allowed you to progress much faster than most.... a great effort mate seriously!
Dude, this is such a criminally underrated video and I'm glad the TH-cam recomendations lead me here. I've only done 2 traveling vids my self but you nailed it. The story telling was spot on, transistions were dope, the audio design went nuts, colour correction was phenomenol, cinematogrophy/videography was natural and beautiful and the lenght and content of the video was "short" and precise. I've honestly got nothing bad to say about the video. Good work my guy, keep going!
Switched to skiing this season after 20 years of boarding, not too far from you (Mt Rose). Needed a hard boot for ankle reasons. Curious how challenging it felt vs your expectations. For me it was MUCH easier than expected. Easier going through crud, balance is more forgiving, edges don’t catch as easily, more intuitive. I’m used to XC skiing too though, which is 42 mm underfoot with 1 mm sidecut and plastic edges for narrow twisting 20 degree descents. I was most impressed with your park skills in 30 days, as that’s a piece I’ve never touched, was too old when I started all this. Fun to see someone else’s journey!
That's awesome! I had pretty high expectations for myself so I guess it was a little tougher than I had expected. It was easy for me to get to a level where I could ski casually but I was hoping to do some tough terrain and bigger features and getting past the basics was tough and obviously there's still a long way for me to grow. Yea the park was fun but oof it really takes a willingness to fall and was the most painful part of the whole thing haha.
I love this video! I'm going to kind of do the opposite this year, I'm only 16 but I've been skiing since i was 5, this winter I am going to try snowboarding. Also We have the same exact goggles!

I don't think I've ever commented on a youtube video, but I have no idea how you have 500 subs with the quality of your videos.

bro i just watched this because im a snowboarder and i wanted to try skiing so i searched up snowboarder trys skiing and i watch this video thinking you have a least over 500k subscribers. also what hill is this
@@TheRyanMcDowell If you asked for my feedback to improve your skiing it would be to learn to carve, which is easier to learn on skis that are 90mm underfoot (or narrower) in lieu of something really wide. I'm talking about dragging your hand on the snow type of carving. You have a significant advantage with your snowboarding background, as you show to be comfortable on steeper slopes and such. My daughters made the most improvement when we made the goal to ski all of the blue runs at Alta in a season, crossing them off the resort map as we completed them. IMO you learn little or nothing from 'surviving' a challenging run beyond you ability. Ask yourself, did I "rip" that run, or did I just "survive" it? And perhaps my favorite recommendation, make multiple laps on the same run so you can focus on technique on a familiar terrain. I generally don't ski off trail until Snowbird has a base more than 50 inches, I use this time to practice my skills while I wait for the sharks to disappear. Lastly, the PSIA has a good list of basic skills that I think any competent skier should have a reasonable command of, scroll down to the list of Level 1, 2, & 3 Tasks here: psia-c.org/education/alpine/alpine-resources/
@TheRyanMcDowell went to doctor today apparently I can't ski rest of season so this season already over for me. Probly over 12 weeks to fully recover 😭
