I love your videos man. You definitely deserve the best and my favorite freeride skier. I can tell you put a lot of work into the video amazing work keep it up!
@@AlexHackelNetwork you've motivated me so much to get better at skiing. I also love visiting your OG mt Killington all the time. Maybe I'll see you there! much love!!
Man, you were only 10 seconds behind Leo! That is really good! As a 12 year ski instructor (only level 1), the thing I noticed was needing more body rotation in the beginning of the video. That got better as you progressed. I think the real advantage to having a good instructor is that they can demonstrate the proper form for you and your level three instructor was a good role model. Later in the video you started opening up your shoulders more which I think helped you rotate a little more. When you watch those great ski racers, their skis are going across the fall line and their body is rotated with the upper body remaining downhill. The most dramatic example of it is in Slalom racing with tight gates. You want to achieve good separation between upper and lower body and that should help with your carving.
Love the production! You skied amazing for such short amounts of training! I was never taught how to carve by old school skiers 😅 i must unlearn what i have learned!
That's an awesome piece of kit! You should definitely not feel bad about your placing for a first time racer. The second and third time down you're going to drop seconds. I race motorcycles and that was about my progression; 10 seconds off the leader the first couple of times, and then 6 seconds, and then 5, 4, and then 4.7, 4.5... it comes down to shaving margins as you get better and better.
I'm using CARV for 3 weeks now - the progress this allowed me to have in just 6 sessions is amazing. Friends taking videos can't tell you where your weakest spot is that you have to work on as a next step to become a better skier - CARV can do exactly that. Full recommendation for anyone who's serious about progressing, no matter the level you're coming from.
I want to try these. Try skiing with an Insta360 X4 action cam. It will be like a drone is hovering in front of you taking video. Much better than getting someone to film you from far away.
The fact that you managed to get in the middle of the standing while not using proper skis for a race and not hitting the gates is pretty good. You should try to get some actual racing coaching and some gs skis, I think it would be fun and I bet you'll get much higher in the standing
Great tool! Liked your effort and run and you are really sympathetic! I’m an alpine hardboot snowboarder and did many GS in the past. There we say make the turn max. 1/3 after the pole. Would not mind giving that AI a try, my technique is decent but never mind to learn.
As an alpine ski coach, fyi, when it comes to racing, there's no perfect turn -- only making speed and maintenance of that speed. From the start thru the finish there just too many variables, from the set, pitch, terrain changes, and variable fall-lines...there's just nooooo perfect turn -- only SPEED! ...but technique and avoiding mistakes counts! 😉 And, yes, ski racing is a whole other layer of fun...it's rush like nothing else.
Carv is really great. Used it last year with the old system. Cancelled for this season since it will unfortunately be less ski days and I'll be more often out with the family. Somehow didn't feel like Carv would fit into that setup. But I'd like to return to it at some point. On the other hand, I'd love to try carving with Hedvig. ;) The woman at the race was the best, though. Verein? America! And she kept counting you down without any help
Nice first race ! Youd did geat. If you plan to do more of it you should definitely get some slalom skis. When I started i had wrong skis like you, I upgraded to what pro racers use in the "Intenational Ski Federation" i managed to drop 10 seconds on the next race. The conception of the skis also make carving easier, but beware they are more rigid/snappy and you can get off track easy if you do technic mistakes. I recommend you also drop your jacket before your start to have less air resistance and getting wrist and legs protection if you plan boxing those doors. Keep it up 👌
@@AlexHackelNetwork If you mind, could you please make a video or short on how to hop/ hit jumps or side hits? Sorry for bothering you. It would be amazing to have a tutorial from the master himself
Hey Alex, do you have a video with the new goggles from the 1000s website? I want them but wanna see someone else wearing them haha. Enjoyed this video, as always.
Can you tell me why you are not getting up and forward in order to increase your pressure on your outside ski? Because Carv does not tell you this or what?
i don't know what you mean. it's not a scoring system, just timing. some europeans use a comma instead of a period for the decimal place. lower (time) is better/faster
this might be the best ad ive ever seen
Glued to the entire 13 minutes. Great content.
love the story telling, your passion and effort to improve. epic
Thank you! I appreciate the support
As a CARV user, I've never heard anything like: "A little too much transition weight release" before. Wish that was actually in the CARV app!
Yeah I've never seen a robot carve, I think the whole video was CGI.

doing race skiing on free ride skies is almost impossible they are waaaay to soft and you will lose the grip because the ski will flex rotationally

I am really curious to see if this tech might help some of my developing racers tho...
I'd love to see Leo do the race on your skis and you do it on race skis! Curious how big of an impact the ski style actually has.
It would be interesting for sure also I wonder how much the suit changes.. I guess its a potential topic for a follow up video
@@AlexHackelNetwork In my experience as a former ski racer the suit does a lot. But the higher speed also makes it a lot more hectic.

Yes! For sure Carving skis are important and Back mount will give you more control while carving
perfect video to finish my monday

I’d be stoked for 148 haha. My highest segment average is 145
I feel this! Its not easy even to just go a couple of points stoked to keep using my Carvs and see how the improvement is over the season
So youre saying theres one thing im better at than alex hackel? Hell yeah….jokes aside great vids man!
Best way for me to carve is to slow down tbh
haha yup! I think you are most likely better at carving then me!
@ i spend too much time skiing and not sending it. Need a change
Antonia fanclub here 👋
Nice you have me interested in race skiing now
would have loved to see your skiIQ from the competition!
Will there ever be a 1000ski with a fishtail?
We shall see :)
Great vid
Thank you!
I need this woman to help my edging
Thank you!! I Appreciate the support
where was this?
Anything like this for snowboarding?
How did you learn to carve? Anyone got tips?
Why so few views?😭😭
Hopefully more coming :) Thanks for the support 🤝
Sleeping in Europe as this comes out idk
How many did you expect an extended advertorial to get?
Cause it’s basically an ad
Maybe bc it came out the same day u said that
Can you tell me why you are not getting up and forward in order to increase your pressure on your outside ski? Because Carv does not tell you this or what?
You should do a video where you sign up for private lessons and start out really bad but then show your true skill
Damn I saw you at Kronplatz but wasnt confident enough to ask if its really you. Now I know lmao
haha yup! That was me!
g ood edit im ng luv it
Great vid man! But maybe use your poles more, trust!
How tall are you man?
How can somone be so good at skiing but so bad at the same time lol
Have you seen him freestyle ski though?
He's pretty good!
@patrickpurcell3671 thats my point hes insane!
Do you have any tips on ski tours?
Hmmm, i am maybe not the best, but if you look at the recent videos we did a ski touring video from Lyngen with some small tips

but where is the skiing robot?
"put it on the outer side", first thing you do is put them on the inner side XD

holy shit
so much edging
Alex, forgetting the Locke Mt Challenge?
Thanks for the support!
‘Next up we are working on edging’
Sorry what
:)
Try a mogul comp next time
The product is sick but no way I'm buying this when it got a subscription. Just make it more expensive and no subscription
man, super good result!
ANOTHER ONE
Hintertux 4 ever
Von welchem verein bist du? "America"
haha my German is quite bad... this is so funny
CARV users seek robotic girl friends. 😂😂😂
why didn't you rent some proper gs skis?
he's obviously gonna rep his own ski company (though i think it's poor marketing that the ski developer can't even carve)
@@mrskibum885 I did't know that it was his company, that make sense
Every video that claims to teach me how to improve my carving is actually just an ad for Carv. I'm sick of it!
The prompt that the robot voice gives you are pretty much fake, but it was fun. Still not buying carv, looks pretty shady to me
Those dopey backcountry poles won’t help your carve on piste.
Keep your hands in front of your hips
I can quad backflip
Lets go!
Hintertux❤
no ones gonna make the edge joke huh?
I can't believe he is using these skis for trying to improve carving. That looks so ridiculous!
Haha...that's halarious! AI skis better than you. And probably your average Alps regular skier has 150+ carve IQ! Now what about snowboarding?
Thank you! That is awesome, keep working on it! you will get it!
No sking IQ above 150 is top level carving.
The average IQ would be around 110.
second
👊👊👊
dumb
You are not using the sticks at all.
You'd have easily gotten a higher skiing IQ with proper skis! 🤘⛷
I am still on a quest to get higher... I think with more time I can get to at least mid 150s
