wolverine is a sport bike with higher gearing and a lighter frame. had the weight or the gearing been the same the wolverine wouldve won hands down. id say it held its own and then some with those weaknesses in the tug
@Steve Williams the yamaha wolverine was literally called the "first sport 4x4 atv" boss. Then of course you had the polaris scrambler that came out shortly thereafter. The foreman has always been a strictly utility atv.
Love the formans just not a fan of the 350 rode the 400 450 500 but i know it was the first gen for them but in that year id take a fourtrax 300 instead
the Honda has bigger tires but the Yamaha had rounded tires so it pushes it out of the way so there for I vote Yamaha cause the reason the Honda won tug of war is flatter the tire instead of rounded the more traction
Honda is heavier. That flat vs. round in the snow is shit. You want a skinny tire in the snow to dig past it. Like some chick stomping on your nuts with a high heel vs. a pair of Skechers..
Yamaha and Honda are both amazing brands 😉 but a Honda is built stronger and a Yamaha will kick his ass in a race no doubt I got a Honda fourmen 400 and I got a Yamaha wolverine 350 the Yamaha is fast as hell I’ll do 60+ the Honda will do 50 😂 but it’ll pull the gates off of hell there both out standing machines

both are great bikes, but each one is designed for different purposes. firstly the honda has a lower 1st gear and is much heavier. makes a great work atv. the wolverine is light and nimble geared towards sport. i have both of these bikes and use them for different occasions.

I'm a Honda guy but that's not a fair comparison if you really wanted to compare too the Honda the 350 bigbear from that time period would have been fair but also it don't matter weight when's at the end of the day no matter what brand.
Maybe in the 80's and 90's. They sat on that old technology for years after and lost market share on account of it. Disc brakes shouldn't have been that hard to figure out.
Which ones? The 650 VTwin from 10 years ago? Because they started out with Suzuki motors. So you're also saying Kawasaki is junk as well? Your daddy have a Hondu as well?
Just bought a 1996 Yamaha wolverine 350 4x4 and I absolutely love it... (So far anyways, lol) u can't really compare the 2 bikes bcuz there is alot of factors in there... In order to compare the 2 (or any 2 for that matter) u have to have same weight person on the 4-wheelsra, same exact size front and back tires, etc.... U have to make sure that everything is the same to see which one is "all around better"!!! These guys are right as fair as the Wolverines 1st gear is lil weak. But the other 4 gears run fairly strong!!!!!💯💯 Tbh, I've always liked both bikes... It just depends what I'm really using it for!!!!💯💯
And the reason the Honda didn't go threw the snow as good is because it has a straight axle in the front Yamaha has independent in the front it makes Big different and the Honda has stock tires
Seeing a lot of comments on which brand is better, guys and girls, every machine has there own problems and advantages, if you really gonna judge a person on what they ride, you shouldn't own an atv or anything for that matter, some are fast and some are slow, some are reliable and some others are not reliable, every brand has their own advantages but they also have their own problems, pretty much every machine is built for a specific purpose, some people like to ride in mud so they either modify can-ams or other brands for there liking, but some others like racing these kind of machines so they modify it or buy it factory or used for speed, but that also means they can be unreliable and such, but when things break down, you should expect it, cause again its a machine, everything doesn't last forever, sometimes they gotta be repaired, so quit judging on machines all the time and just enjoy having fun riding them no matter what brand they are.
Even if Honda was in deeper snow. He should rock it side to side. It would gone threw .. rocking it. I had one as kid back in 87. 88. And I was stupid sold it in 2000. I has a Wolverine 350 1999 few years ago, realy nice atv. But you can't think win tow of war with this ATV. It's realy to much light (only 480 pounds, only 80 pouds more than a Raptor) The Foreman is between 550 to 600 pouds. The Big Bear 350 is realy better for working or tow. But on a trail, Wolverine is realy great.
Haha, what the hell are you talking about? You act like Yamaha is unreliable... Oh right, they’re so unreliable that their motorcycles are #1 rated in reliability. Makes perfect sense...
Any of you guys ever ride either of these quads? I have. Because I was actually alive when they were in production. You can't compare this old shit with any of the stuff made today. Its all better. A 1987 Honda 350 probably has about 3-4" of suspension travel and a solid front end and rides like a damn log truck. A 1995 Wolverine had Warrior 350 engine tuned differently and 1st gear was high as hell. (reason I didn't buy one in 1997 myself). Fun to do I'm sure, but the Honda was going to win this one all day from sheer physics.
Put the heavier driver on either quad and that one will win. Still partial to my Honda Yamaha not that bad though owned both. But the one that has out live them all is my 1984 big red.
Reptiles And Fishing the yamaha still made it through but yes the foreman went through deeper snow but they are both a great quad...... even though i prefer yamaha...
I think its a tie. I have both a honda atc and a Yamaha wolverine. Yamaha may be faster but Honda has better lasting parts. Imagine if honda started with rc cars
That model Honda is by far superior. They are absolute beasts. I towed an 800lb garden tractor with a frozen rear and flat tires thru the mud like it was a toy. I couldn't believe it.

When you are riding trails and mud holes I don't need to go 55 mph, I need torque and I need all 4 wheels to spin and the straight front axle of the foreman never let me down. I like Yamaha's and I do own a few machines of theirs but none of them compare to the durability and power of the Honda Foreman.
wolverine is a better all around bike and it did have stock tires on it the foreman is a work/farm bike made for pulling but it still didn't pull the wolvy until he let off

Read the description. The tires on the wolverine are bigger than stock do of course the honda won with its smaller tires, and the wolverine is not really a hauling bike like yamaha's 1998 grizzly or their other bikes.
