Unfortunately, Polina lost today and couldn't even get through the second voting, so there's only one final performance left to watch. It was apparent that Super Vocal trio will be menacing and sadly they outperformed her.
In my opinion it's somewhat unfair to the others by allowing a group like the SVG to perform. 3-4 powerful and sometimes varied combined vocals against lone vocalists (even with guest or backup vocalists). It wouldn't surprise me if they somehow nick a win against the remaining established singers in the final round.
@@zahrans well, in this particular case Polina herself took kinda wrong song IMO. Singer is not Eurovision so no one cares for "messages" there and it won't help with voting. This song doesn't represent neither Polina, nor Russia. She took all her first places with Russian or her songs and she should've notice that. But why Polina thought that Chinese people would appreciate Russian singer with American song with strong social undertones - I don't know. So this was a questionable song choice with questionable results.
@@celciones You may have a point. But still the SVG with their combined and no doubt constantly rehearsed vocals have an enormous advantage over the others, don't you think? Even if the likes Polina or Gong Linna had perfect performances.
@@zahrans I agree that SVG were menacing enemy, but their third place with abysmal percent compared to Liu Huan shows that singing abilities aren't everything. Also, they weren't particularly successful during the other episodes either, wining only once in Breakout. Singer is not a singing abilities contest. It's a contest of performances, that includes singing abilities, good song choice and good delivering of performance as a whole. Polina should've stick to her previous masterful performances with choreography, Russian songs and all those good things. But she decided to move from Russian culture and music to international ones and immediately lost most of her individuality and appeal. IMO.
@@celciones sure , the SVG's rankings were pretty inconsistent but remember, this is the finals and they only need to string together once perfect performance to sneak in a win against their more illustrious competitors. Re Polina, to be fair to her she did a pretty good job with both the Russian & English songs she picked. This week was the first instance I (also) felt that she miscalculated. Regardless she (along with Yang Kun) were the best overall singers if we go by just the ranks obtained and she would have no doubt created many new fans and admirers due to her performances here.
