We practice this drill at least 3 times a week. We learned it from a reining trainer. But the goal was different. Thanks for providing this interpretation.
Sometimes I have the feeling when loping and stopping that I fall down into the saddle with a jarring sensation. Now I know where it comes from. I will do the maneuver.
can you tell me why you say you don't want to disengage your horse? I'm not sure what or when you actually don't want that. I appreciate your calm and gentle approach to training. thank you
Good morning Thanks for sharing... Worked a young Pinto that did that but watching owner, they pulled hard and over with no verbal signs. Sore and confused horse. Traded out a hackney to teach them both and reduced the weight of the bit at the end. Front heavy isn't good for the horse either. Take care and sure looks warmer there.
I am on the Mississippi gulf coast, we don't have much winter here. When you see me all bundled up, it's not really that cold I'm just a cold weather wimp. Lol.
Tim I enjoy you videos very much. It is as though the horses are telling you verbally their problems. You honestly Know how to analyze each horse with different problem. You are able to point out what maybe a health problem of the horse. Thank you

Every thing that I ask a horse to do I want it to do it with his back end engaged, transition, stops, spins, lead changes, ect.
Thank you Tim for a very valuable tip. My knee bumping stops will surely be something of the past

How would you describe your seat as you ask for the stop?
Relaxed, under me, and very deep.
It looks so easy :-)
