This is so true, I also thought that weren't important until now, that my city is hosting the 3rd edition of the Youth Olympic Games. I was so wrong. These young athletes have a really high level, hoping to see them in Tokyo 2020.

I think it’s because US and UK don’t do well in this games, that’s why American mainstream media don’t cover it. CNN streams MainSail, Golf, equestrian, rugby and formula one races most often and I guess those are the sports American and European mostly dominates and i dont even know anyone that’s actually interested in those sports lol

That’s because all the truly talented ‘youth’ athletes are already competing in the actual olympics. For example in the video, the women’s 800m freestyle would have been won by Wang Jianjiahe of China (who is 16 years old) if she competed; but she already competes at a senior level.

@@029Mhelz, the reason the USA and UK don't do very well in these games is because most of their young athletes opt not to go to the youth Olympics as they are already competing at senior level. These games don't really give an insight into who the super future powers of the sporting world will be. Most of these athletes that win medals won't go on to be Olympic champions or even Olympic medalists.
