I really enjoy your adventures and especially this one. I lived in the San Bernardino mountains for many years and used to boondock with my small trailer often up in the higher altitudes for the solitude. Thank you for this episode!
Very cool! Thanks!
I am so looking forward to see the new solar/Li system.....I know it's going to be awesome!
I lived up in Big Bear Lake for 25 years and really miss it, but enjoy your travels.
Your 5th wheel looks like a real house inside.
Wonderful, amazing ❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
FYI most rv leveling jacks are not designed to hold the weight of the rig . The tires should be on the ground or on blocks. Happy camping
That rig looks great at night!
Enjoyed you exploring an area we could go check out! We were up there yesterday and found the area a fun place to stay. We came up the back way, up the 18! Yikes, we hope you didn't go out the 18! We came home the way you came up. Much better but that climb was really steep. Thanks for exploring for us! Safe travels!
I enjoyed the hike and especially watching Louie and June play wrap up Moms legs, a real belly laugh. Although I’m normally not a big install video fan I’m looking forward to next week for the solar panels. Enjoy yourselves.
the mountains of my youth. Enjoy.
⛰️😊
Basenji. Great dogs.
Those violet/blue/purple flowers were so beautiful!!! We thought sure that you were going down, Chris, when the doggies were playing around you...cute! May your heart be strong...
I live in Big Bear and camp with my horse in that area.. go all the way up the road and there is a cabin and a look out spot, you can see the Palm Springs area.
Thanks for the belly laugh 😂 - the puppies zooming around you was hilarious, Chris!
😁 they love doing that!! 😂
@@IreneIronTravelssaw someone in that situation fall & break her hip. Seriously don’t move to keep your balance :D
You have no idea how much you just made my day when I saw you reveal the 24 volt setup. Heck yeah! 👍🏻
🤣 Yes! I appreciate your enthusiasm and comments before for the 24v and I almost went 12v again just because thats what I was comfortable with. But growth comes from outside your comfort zone right?! Thanks again!
@@IreneIronTravels So happy for you guys. You are going to have so much more peace of mind knowing you're not cooking off all those amps to stay cool!
The doggies sure enjoy their walk, don't they? Have a good time!!
You won't regret adding all the solar you can fit :-) We have 4,780 watts on our 36' class A. We were grateful for it this last week as it allowed us to help a neighbor power their rig when they ran out of propane, so they didn't lose the food in their fridge. It is a real blessing to have a roof full of solar! And when you get under tree cover, you'll likely still have enough to keep your basic systems running. Makes boondocking so much easier as far as power management goes.
Thanks for the great videos you keep putting out!
Great video! Can't wait for the next one!
Hey Aaron and Chris! I don't know if you'll have a chance to read all the messages but I just wanted to reach out to thank you for stopping by our campsite in Tahoe Valley the other day to assist us with our propane issue. That was very nice of you! I'm looking forward to see the finish product once you have the solar panels installed. Safe travels!
Hey Victor! Great meeting you and your family! So glad we got your propane figured out!
An amazing episode! Well done! Thank you…
This was a enjoyable video on your great channel!! Little bit of everything!! Thank you for sharing this with me!! As always BS & BK & BC
Love the music!
Nice music selections.
Nice music selections.
Great video! Beautiful area, for sure. I noticed in my memories that one year ago we were neighbors at Twin Mills RV Park in Indiana! Little did we know how much we would enjoy subscribing and following y'all's adventures! Been following every since. 😊
WHEN I WAS A KID, I WAS RAISED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, SPENT MANY DAYS NEAR LAKE ARROWHEAD, BIG BEAR, AND GREEN VALLY LAKE IN THE SAN BERNADINO MOUNTAINS. LOVED IT, BUT OVER LOOKING THE CITY WAS A BROWN LAYER OF SMOG, YOU COULD NOT EVEN SEE THE CITY, ALL YOU SAW WAS THE TOPS OF THE MOUNTAINS.
Beautiful camp site. I dont live too far from there down the hill of course at over 100 degrees :-) the pups are getting big. Thank you for sharing!
Great video! Looking forward to the solar install. The dogs doing zoomies was awesome! I miss my pups. Pulled in to Houston 3 days early for some Alliance warranty work. Pup will catch up with me on Tuesday.
Loved that morning walk. The wildflowers, and your filming of them: magical. Loved seeing Louie and June. Wish I had a solution to suggest for not getting tangled up by dual leashes . I’ve always had a pair of dogs, tried all kinds of products, but never found a way. 😵💫. Great to see all the improvements and progress you’re making on that gorgeous rig. That shot of it from down below was fantastic. Safe travels.

That's a nice set-up👍🇺🇲
It is so beautiful there!!❤
It really was Betty! 😀☺️
Great choice with Rich Solar. Not a paid promo, I'm using a different setup (mobile, but not a camper) built using their products and a satisfied customer. Support after the sale is on point.
When ordering my pickup, I checked the box for the 440A dual alternators. I will definitely be exploiting that installed option with a DC-DC charger and heavy patch cables to supplement solar charging when traveling. If I've learned anything with solar, it delivers when the sun is out but it's a variable you can't depend on entirely. I'm excited to see all the different system designs and use cases, and usually learn a little something with each one. Thanks for sharing, and I'm looking forward to the next video with more detail on yours.
I grew up in Riverside, I've been to alot of places in those mountains, but never knew about the place your at, been on that road a few times like I said in truck and trailer, one time in the snow, pretty scary trip, looks awesome, I live in the Ozarks now, just missed you at Quartzsite, thanks for sharing, I learn alot from you 2 and enjoy seeing the places you have been, thanks, Dave in the Ozarks...
What a beautiful spot you guys found. Looks like prime mountain lion territory though. Those suckers scare the living snot out of me. I would bring multiple sprays and a side arm. Being technical here the rules said no firearm discharge so I would be packing. Worst case scenario you end up breaking the discharge rule but hopefully you would be safe. Dogs are so cute but the kitty cat sees them as a snack. Grizzly Bears and Polar Bears also are scary!! So looking forward to the install so good luck with that and enjoy the heck out of your great camping spot.
I live in these mountains and the biggest danger to dogs and cats are coyotes, simply because there are many more of them than other types of large predators. Coyotes also live within the towns in the mountains. In the Big Bear Lake area earlier this year there were two instances of dogs being attacked by coyotes while being walked by their human owners. Mountain lions and bobcats are also threats, but there are far fewer of those. But your main point is correct that there are dangers to smaller pets in these mountains. Owners need to be alert.
Thanks for the tip in the free San Bernardino sites.
We've been in a class b for the last 18 years and haven't really wanted anything other than what we have, until.... OMGolly I loved the look of the big open space with all those windows in your new rig. Jealous!
😂🤣 We feel ya! Our 2.5 years in a class b we didn’t want anything larger either! But, for us this was a progression of our full time journey and we love the space! Appreciate your comment! 😊
Another SUPER video
You know the Valor batteries don't charge while driving, but the solar that comes with it does great. Even with the 12 volt fridge.
I think the Renogy DC2DC charger is something they just started putting on the Paridgms....maybe the Valors soon too.
Yes, I remember those mosquitoes! At least 5 of them were on me once the sliding door opened on our minivan. There’s a great deal of natural beauty in that region, but beware of lots of unsavory characters living as outdoor enthusiasts.
I hope you guys are doing OK in this storm! If you guys need anything we are only a couple hours away...
I camped in that area in the late 80s with a 30 foot fifth wheel. It is beautiful, but as you saw a real pain in the butt to get level.
Your toddlers are getting a little more patient. They are so cute, but active.
Aaron taking solar 🤯😱😵
😊
Another great vid! Thank you so much.
We have the same Berkey and my wife asked me to ask you how you travel with it? We drain it and seatbelt it in the back seat on travel days hoping the bumps don’t break the filters off
Thanks! We have probably traveled 30,000 miles with this Berkey and haven't had any issues with the filters breaking! 🤞In our Sprinter van it just rode on the floor in the wet bath....and in both our travel trailer and 5th wheel it rides in a cabinet under the sink. We do empty it out and then put the top part upside down into the bottom part so its more compact and travels better. 👍
I would worry about mountain lions liking little dogs. 115 with heat indext at 5pm. Here in north florida
You misspoke. "No discharging firearms". You can have one if you have a CCW or keep it in your trailer.Otherwise thanks for sharing the video. I need a place up there where I can take a big trailer.
👍
Love your content, question on the 295MK. How is the access to the fridge while the slide is in? It looks tight on the floorplan but in reality how hard is it at quick stops?
Hey, 👋 thanks! Both doors of the fridge will open with the slides in, but the freezer will not. You do have to move the patio slide out about 1 foot to get by, but then the fridge, stove, microwave, sink are all accessible. The entire upstairs and bathroom are easy access on travel days without moving slides. Any dual apposing slide 5th wheel floor plan with an island will have limited access to the lower deck, but you can easily pop out the hydraulic slides if needed. 👍
Great video as always, I’ve been watching y’all since you had the airstream interstate. I still have mine, but recently the radio has started to give me problems. I remember you had changed yours out. So my question is do you remember what you replaced it with, name/model, and were you happy with it. Did the navigational work well? Thanks, John
Hey John! Sorry to hear you're having radio problems! Seems to be a common issue.... We went with a generic one off Amazon and it worked OK, but it had some glitches. I've heard the Alpine Halo series are really nice. Spendy, but Apple car play and Android Auto work really well for Nav and Music.
Hey guy, does your F350 have the 2,000 watt Pro Power you can plug your RV into in the back and run your truck in Generator Mode? Just curious if your able to run your a/c units or run anything else you needed it in a pinch?
Zoomie balance training!
Is that Aaron singing when you were walking? 😅
Yes! 🤣🎤🎶
Nice! You guys are settling in to the new rig. Can’t wait to see the solar install next. One quick question what lens do you use for video?
Thanks! I've been trying to go as light and compact as possible lately , so I'm using the Sony A7c with a Sony 20mm 1.8. 👍 Also, a lot of the outside B roll shots are just using my iPhone 13 pro.
Hoping you didn’t run into any arrow grass, we loved boondocking in the southwest with our pup, but HATED having to watch out for arrow grass. our pup got it in his toe beds one year, and we didn’t even know what it was and how dangerous it was for dogs. We don’t have that evil stuff where we are from.
What tennis shoes do you recommend or what ones do you use the most for walking trails, etc. ??
We use the brand Altra for our running and trail shoes. 👍
wigzi retractable dog leash may help
Delete solar and batteries, onboard diesel Cummins and 35 gallon on board tank, no black water so stay out 3 weeks plus
So how much of you use your Lectric Bikes and you fast scooter???
time to let them off the leash, mom!
10:00 I see a red gas can. Did you finally get a generator 😊
Ha ha yes! We still have that one we used last October for the RV unplugged event in Texas. AC for Louie! But we haven’t used it since….
@@IreneIronTravelsI am a big fan of how victron handles the generator. You can program the current limiter right to the generator's maximum output (which is most fuel efficient), run your generator for an hour or two to boost up your batteries, and then shut it down. That's part of why I STILL haven't put solar on my van. I can run the generator for a few hours a day and be set.
You guys have to go for your pistol permits and training so you can conceal and carry if you encounter a aggressive Wild bear or mountain cat .
If your not interested in a conceal
Carry a shoulder strapped shotgun everywhere you walk ..
Wild mountain lions and wild black bear or grizzlies are unpredictable especially if they're trying to get into the RV
Just passing some personal experience wisdom and safety your way.
always expect unexpected in the wilderness
What part of Wisconsin are you from? Grew up there too. In Arizona now.
👍 We both grew up for the most part in Hudson WI. Pretty close to the Twin Cites, MN area.
where did you enter the forest? was it off I-15?
Yes! We came in through the 15 and south at Barstow on 247. Then we took 18 up the back side of the mountain.
What does the "Yellow Post" mean? is it something special over the regular campgrounds?
It is just what they call those dispersed caping spots. So they are basically campsites set up by the National Forest Service, that don't have any amenities. ( No trash, water, elective, security, etc.) You can camp there for two weeks for free!
@@IreneIronTravels when my family camped there there were no reservations no fees just families camping but then that was in 1963.
👍 Was that the Heart Bar Campground right up the road, or the Coon Creek yellow post sites? Either way, beautiful area!
Heart Bar
@@IreneIronTravels the only reason we stopped camping up there was that my parents purchased a lot and built a cabin in the Moonridge area of Big Bear. they got tired of sleeping on the ground.
Really enjoyed your video! If you don't mind some tips; put the blocks under the jacks as opposed to the tires - its our experience its better to have tires off the ground as opposed to haing your jacks at thier limits. We also like to use stabilizers - 1. they are great to keep the rv from wobblling during workouts; and 2 they help reduce the strain of your jacks when they are extended. Steadyfast is the best we have tried and easy to install. Moryde Xbrace might be a second choice.
What’s the temp there!
High 70’s to low 80’s in the day and 50-60’s at night! 🤌
Would anybody know how I can sell my van? I have had some life changes that won't allow me to use the van. I have a 2022 Ram ProMaster fully converted camper van with the works: hot water shower, AC, heater, 400 amp hours lithium, 300watts solar, fridge, induction stove stop etc., etc. Dealerships won't buy the van b/c any potential buyer won't be able to finance it through a bank. I am not looking to make a dime off the sale - only trying to re-coup what I paid for the van/conversion. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Only thing bad is it's in California
