      how come you're not allowed one from an expo or online? I guess every store is different, some good, some bad, but beware some are sold with parasites, so if your parents for example dont want to spend extra money by buying it online or at an expo, they may end up pay out more on vets costs.

    • @vanengelhardt7586
      @vanengelhardt7586 5 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      For preventing mold I would put some type of leaves that are safe for geckos between all of the wood and the substrate. And it’s best to pick up your crestie gently instead of trying to get him/her to come to your hand

    I have a male crested gecko in a 48 gallon tank, we recently upgraded it because Ross, my gecko, was 6 months old when I first got him. I’ve had him for 4 months, so he’s officially 10 months. He’s been doing perfect in his new tank. As of now I’ve had to keep his food bowls on the bottom, but am upgrading to a ledge soon. He has a sweet tooth for crickets, I’ll tell you that! The most he’s ate in a day is 9. I know they aren’t supposed to eat them much, for treats only, but I usually give him 15 a week, making sure he gets at least one a day. Your credits may not like criekcts much, but Ross loves them!! This video helped be a lot. I mean, a lot. You deserve more subs.

    I made a beautiful popsicle stick house for my crestie. (He has a coconut and many other hides also). This little house is only like 5” wide and tall and I lined the inside with paper towels and filled any gaps with silicone so his toes wouldn’t get stuck anywhere. I am glad you recommended feeding them crickets. I got a crestie about 5 days ago and was feeding pangea since that is what the breeder told me to continue them on and that live insects were a no go. Then today I noticed my gecko running back and forth on the glass chasing crickets that were climbing in the screen cage of my chameleon. So I came here looking to see if it was safe to feed crickets; after seeing "yes", I went and dusted the smallest cricket I had and stuck it in the cage and the gecko dove from across the cage right onto the cricket. He loves them! Thank you for making his day. media.giphy.com/media/DpB9NBjny7jF1pd0yt2/giphy.gif

      You definitely don't need to feed them crickets, or insects at all, but it's worth giving it a try for that extra variety. Can you use a heat mat on the back of the tank? I’m using a ceramic heat emitter right now but since I converted a 20 gal long into a crestie tank with a screen lid at the front with a door. The humidity is a problem. I’ve even put foil on the screen lid and it doesn’t help. I didn’t know if a heat mat would be better or not. Since the screen lid is in the front, that’s the only place I can put the CHE, and it is EXTREMELY inconvenient. Thanks!

      TheBrenna Channel Agreed with Leopard Gecko. Do your research. Usually distilled water isn't recommended as a pure water source for animals, but as a source of water to mix with things like repashys powdered supplements and food. (Or baby formula, protein powders, etc for humans). The reason for that is because it is void of all vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients. Filtered water is good.

    How varm do it need to be? And what do use? like heatmat? nope, UV light?
    Do the terrarium always need to be wet or dry?
    Whats best? fake or real plants?
    WHAT MUST I GET?

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MR.Stray cat use a ceramic heat emitter if necessary. The temperature should be 70-80, but 80 is a bit too warm. Temps should be measured by a digital thermometer. UVB is beneficial but optional. Both fake and real plants work but I’d say real is better. The tank should be wet most of the time but not all day. Check out the reptile Amino (on the app Amino) for more advice.

    would you recommend paper towel substrate for my baby crested gecko?

    • @daddyshrek1367

      When mine was a baby and his cage was tiny, so I used paper towel. He’s bigger now, so he gets earth substrate sort of thing.

    can u keep a crestie in a 80cm long aquarium with a good heat mat, lighting and plenty branches and plants to climb on? Ive got a spare aquarium that isnt watertight anymore but has no cracks. Was wanting to do a bioactive enclousure?

    • @charlotteorchid2707
      @charlotteorchid2707 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lorna Fletcher Hi there! No you can’t, Cresties are arboreal and will not do well in a fish tank. If you turn the fish tank on its side so it is taller would work with lots of plants.

    When filling up the spray bottle and adding the reptisafe do you need to just throw away the left over water or can you keep it in? if you can keep it in for how long can you do that?

  • @elbow2132

    I’m only 13 and I have to buy everything for my gecko and these seemingly giant tanks are pricey so the max I will go is a 18” by 18” by 24” is that ok for a adult?

    • @emmabobemma1
      @emmabobemma1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try to save up for longer! And remember to have a good “back-up” budget in case of vet or food issues! I wouldn’t recommend getting one if you can’t afford a 45 x 45 x 60 as my crestie loves to climb around in her tank! Remember if you can’t provide a high quality life for your crestie you shouldn’t get one until you can find yourself!

      @@emmabobemma1 you don't need a enclosure that big no enclosure can't be too big but if your on a budget that size is fine for its whole life

      PawPotatoes Saylor A 45 x 45 x 60 is actually just an 18 x 18 x 24 in centimeters instead of inches. You have the same exact size tank :)

    How often would you recommend offering a crested gecko food? I’ve been getting a lot of different and mixed information from a few different places. I’m currently feeding my three month old crested four days a week and leaving the food in over night then taking it out when I get up the next morning.

    Is it true that when you put a gecko in a bigger cage it stresses out the gecko more. So like I shouldn’t buy the biggest cage

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A UVB bulb (either Arcadia’s shadedweller or a zoo med T8 5.0 bulb) and a low wattage heat lamp connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat. Make sure the enclosure is at least 18x18x24”.

    why do you need a smaller tank for a younger gecko? is it going to harm the gecko if i put it in too big a tank? if so, how?

    • @aari-xp9yp
      @aari-xp9yp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To name a few reasons why, If a tiny gecko is in a huge tank theres risk of falling from height and getting injured or dying, also it's more likely to accidentally starve itself as it wont be able to venture as big a space to locate its food
