Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of our bringing our leachie home and we absolutely love him. Don't know too much about him, though, because we forgot to grab all his info from his breeder when we picked him up, and I messaged multiple times to get it and never heard back. 😔

Probably cos they have no idea and got the lizard from another supplier. So if they don't respond they wont get messages from you telling them to hassle other suppliers purely to satisfy your curiosity. Animal could also be wild caught which is bad, can you imagine someone grabbing an animal from the wild and then selling it to you for a couple of hundred bucks. For 1 why don't you just go grab it yourself and for 2 it damages the environment. To sum up don't ask stupid questions and you wont receive stupid responses. I doubt they've bred this lizard for 100's of generations and know everything about it, like it's mother and fathers name and stuff like that.

An 18×18×24 enclosure is considered minimum safe size for a single adult, but bigger is always better if you can! If not a leachie, a smaller gecko like a gargoyle or a crested could also enjoy such a setup.

You can get them around 500€/$ if you go for a Mix. They are still very beautiful but not good for breeding. So if you just want a leachianus for yourself as a pet then go for such an animal.

Is there a species of isopod you’d recommend as a clean up crew? I was thinking of getting some Porcellio Scaber color morphs but I’ve come across some horror stories of them being protein “aggressive” and swarming geckos (one video even mentioned leachies, but not if they were a juvenile/hatchling/adult) so I’ve been looking for a humid tolerant species of isopod.

jw is that tank big enough? They are "giant" geckos after all (but I've never kept leachies so I don't know their requirements)

Hey! Yes, for a pair of smaller island locality leachies, this sized enclosure is definitely large enough, however you can certainly go larger if you like! Thank you for watching!

And totally not worth it. Well idk how to say that w.o throwing shade to the animal, but I mean geckos are typically pretty easy to breed. Breeders just put a high price tag on these because they’re the biggest of there species

Nice build. I breed crested geckos and always wanted to get more new Caledonian geckos so I ended up getting a leachie "it's a GT cross" can't remember off the top of my head and a PI chewie in a trade for a lot of isopods which I also breed. I have a few questions. What locations are those? How long did it take to get them to pair up and did they take to each other or have you had 2 that wouldn't mate?

Hello! I’ve had my leachianus for over a year. I got him as a hatchling, literally the day he hatched I got him. He is MASSIVE, I mean MASSIVE but the thing is, he hates all insects, I try to feed him insects all the time but he just won’t budge at all not even on his alone time at night. He gets his insect nutrients from the “smoothie” mixes from the stores. I do feed him nutritious fruits that I get specifically for him and he seems very healthy but would the lack of actual insects affect him in any way? I do mix his vitamins with the food I get him as well

@The Cløwn I was more referencing the "can go as high as 1000'. I agree with that top out for the island locales but GTs are usually at least that. Starting rate for Yate and poindimie for example start at 2k generally.

I was actually going to pick one up at the Toronto expo next month, but it's now canceled/postponed understandably. Also I dont know why but I'm fine( but still dont like to)with ordering scorpions and tarantulas online but not reptiles for some reason. So I will most likely wait until the crbe.

honestly, it's totally safe to do! Especially now that the weather is getting warmer! No longer the risk of cold and such :). Waiting is fine too! Perhaps best with the whole Corona situation.
