Watching this I realized one huge problem with the Strasburg trying to realistically modifying # 475 to resemble # 382 when she ran on the N&W's Abingdon Branch. The 475's tender is from a USRA Mountain Class K-2 with four wheel trucks. The tender on 382 when she ran on the Abingdon Branch in the mid 1950's was a larger tender riding on six wheel trucks that was from an early articulated either Class Z or Y-2.
Sadly no, it's actually a replica the Strasburg shop crew made after analyzing some old recordings of 382's whistle. However I think the real whistle may still be preserved in Roanoke.
Is the reason why 475 has masqueraded as 382 a few times in the past few years and was this video filmed around the second time 475 was dressed as 382 since 2010 I believe so? And is it true she'll be masquerading as 382 again once 611 visits this fall and I hope she'll be heading there by steam. I mean if she was able to go all the way to Ohio in 1994 under her own power then I bet she can do it all the way to Strasburg Pennsylvania
@@dolothedolphin there are two whistles on the engine in this video. The deeper one is PRR 7002's 3 chime, but the higher one, to my knowledge, is N&W 382's original whistle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've heard.
@@BlueCometProductions Oh, alright. That checks out. Some people just kinda go around filming Amish folks like they're a costumed mascot at an amusement park and I'm glad to see that isn't the case here.
O. Winston link would have loved this and be proud they are recreating what he preserved for us to see in the future. I wish he could have seen this.
My mother's mom remembers this train going through her town in the middle of the night and 382s sister 433 is in static display in Virginia
5:58 & 6:33 i am at a lost for words...beyond spectacular yet simply brilliant!
That whistle doh! This deserves to be heard
@KeystoneRailfan .,,,
Wow. A lot of work went into the staging of those scenes!
4:37 I can't believe 475 wore PRR 7002/6083's whistle!!!! How did the museum of Pennsylvania agree to this?!??!?!
I mean, it's not like 7002 is going anywhere anytime soon. Plus 7002s whistle was probably the closest they had to a Virginia Creeper whistle
@@chessiecatproductions2088 Ik but still they must've had to come to some agreement when it came to the whistle on 475 for this photo charter.
Sooo... that is the voice of Pennsylvania Railroad 7002
Nice touch having 7002's whistle on there as well.
7002s whistle? Her whistle should be on the 7002 at the RR museum. Same with 1223. Maybe that whistle you heard belongs to #39.
It’s not like 7002’s using it or anything
@@BlueCometProductions lol
I just biked all 40 miles of the creeper trail last week. It was beautiful
Holy crap, these shots are amazing. Great job man!
I love the sound of that bearing slop.
I love the way it flew through groffs!
What's the story behind that smokestack? Never seen one with a "fluted" end like that. Is it some type of spark arrestor?
Nice valve sound!
It has the OG Whistle!!!! 😭😭😭
Is it just me or does 475 look way better as 382? I think Strasburg RR should leave her like this!
Austin Brodzinski there booth class m s
Bruh I’ve been here about 3 times and haven’t seen 475 yet darn
Boy this video is a keeper.
Michael Hostetter I think you mean *Creeper™
Keeper of the creeper reaper
Jeepers... you’re right.
The hills for the creeper keep getting steeper.
Peepers Lerro will be proud of this video

I wouldn’t say it’s much of a problem
Keep the good work up
Great video!
Did the 382 (475) really have 2 whistles on the same engine?
Hey chad i like it man
They should keep her number as 475 but keep the white pinstripe
Why does that thing have two whistles???
Not the engine I was looking for, but a delight nevertheless. Like the period touches with car, wagon and passengers.
Very well done!
that sounds like MILW 261 at 2:34 although I know it is a PRR 6 chime or a 3 chime.
What if N&W 382 were never scrapped
So, if I'm getting this straight, the 475 is Wearing 382's Original whistle as Her Primary, & PRR 7002's As Her Secondary????
What whistle is that at 2:23? It sounds awesome
I believe it’s the shop built 3 chime
PRR 3 Chime from 7002
I could be wrong but isn’t the 2nd 3 chime from a PRR or LIRR steamer???
It's prr 7002s whistle
Excellent!
which whistle do you prefer? 2:22 or 4:35
Like the 7002 horn and 382 horn
i looked on K&L Trainz and i saw that engine
wow that's 382's actual whistle? How did Strasburg acquire this?
Sadly no, it's actually a replica the Strasburg shop crew made after analyzing some old recordings of 382's whistle. However I think the real whistle may still be preserved in Roanoke.
4:34 i saw this clip but from down the road a bit.

I know that other whistle on 475 besides the homemade shopbuilt 3 chime whistle, it's LIRR 39's PRR 3 Chime whistle.
+brian falzon it's actually 7002's
my mistake
Blue Comet Productions 7002 existed in the 80s, might exist still.
Mary Crosby-Roth it does, it just doesn’t operate
That opening shot is very picturesque. Another great video! Also, what whistle is that?
PRR 7002s
interesting, did 7002 not have a 3 chime? The only reason I ask is because to me it doesnt sound like one

Wow - where did they find the outside braced wooden box cars?
I wonder if one day 475 can star in another movie in the future like it did in Thomas and the Magic Railroad?
Would you dont ask about 475 in thomas and the magic railroad movie brian?
6:58 in the train station
475 has 2 whistles, the LIRR 3 chime and I don't know the other one.
+Southwest Air Fan the lower tone 3 chime is the PRR 3 chime off of 7002
Oh okay. Anyways, nice footages of the train.
Well thank you!
What was the other whistle
Blue Comet Productions and also LIRR 39
The 382 is 475 and they make some modifications to look like the real one in Virginia on display
The real 382 was scrapped in the 50s. I believe there is 3 4-8-0 mastadons left in the US. 475 is the only one that runs
What kind of whistle does she have in this video?
these are all the roblox sounds i been looking for for so long: 2:23 and 4:34
Sounds aren’t free, bucko
@@BlueCometProductions ok i just found them after looking for the original
The original?
@@BlueCometProductionsBro, it's obviously a little kid. Don't be a twat.
Why does it have Canadian National 89 Whistle
Second whistle sounds like 7312's!
The second whistle was 7002
Looks like #382 was highballing it in some scenes!
Great stuff! This is the look 475 should always have. And the whistle too! What happened to the shop built 3 chime for this trip? Wasn't available?
Brilliant video! How often ae photo sessions like this held?
Yes
4:22 You _did_ ask for permission to film that amish guy as he worked, right?
It was staged during the event, there were about 74 others shooting the same scene

I like 475 in this scheme batter
I think number 475 disguised as 382 is probably the only 4-8-0 type in existence in the United States other countries have 4-8-0s such as Australia
There are six 4-8-0s in the US, the 475 is just the only one operating.
Jonathan Eau Claire that I did not know thanks for telling me. Do you know what other railroads owned 4-8-0s?
SP had some.
There is one SP 4-8-0 left in existence on display in California while the other five are N&W M, M2, and M2c classes.
The others are not so lucky to operate
The 475 and the 382 bolth class ms
Casey Jones would be proud.
4:35
I have the stealth of a freight train
"Epic!"
key spotting off 7002
R.I.P. Richie Maggs
7002 horn
What whistle is that?
Aaron Springborn PRR 7002’s
If only those cars where actually hauling goods and where not just for show ;-;
Railroads should bring back ALL scrapped steamers, reallyits such a sad sight to see steam trains rusting away with time.
I like 4:34
