    "Never overpack a bearing", they say. But is it true? Does that old adage apply here?

      Yes, if you overpack a bearing the excess will go into the hub cavity, which if that is overfilled too the grease will overheat inside the hub as it’s churning about and turn into a liquid, losing its lubricating properties. The liquid grease can then come past the hub seals and onto the braking surfaces.

    Recommend removing wheels from hub to avoid wheels stuck on. Poor tyre fitters.

      yes, and it saves weight too, esp. if the next step is to remove the bearings outer race, using a hydraulic press!!; we are not all as strong as Hercules!!! (taking the wheel off also gives more grip on the brake hub, so you don't cock them on the way out, damaging the axle seals!).
