You are making me think or rethink how Zor was reaching out to someone, even in the first couple episodes. The Bioroids use telepathy in the mech to control them. Zor must've been reaching out to Dana, her half Zentraedi side.
Fun episode. I have two favorite little parts, because while small they are just brilliant writing: 1) In the hospital room when Zor just walks towards Dana, she freezes and he jumps her, and that's when it really clicks to her he is the red bioroid pilot because the first time they fought the red bioroid did the same move to her on the battlefield. 2) Bowie whistling the Musika song as a signal to Dana and Zor recognizing it was a brilliant little detail that perfectly matched the characters and the situation.
The best way I can describe the actions of the fifteenth in this episode is “ocean’s eleven style heist” and it was glorious. They had a single objective, get Dana face to face with Zor which they did beautifully. It also had the wonderful secondary bonus of setting up the first “date” for my favorite couple in the series. Yes, Sean and Marie hold that title for me. I’ll get into the why’s of that more in future episodes.
Marie's injury is only peripherally related to Dana's actions, so it is a bit unfair for Marie to place the blame on Dana. In "Stardust," Dana was trying to get at the bioroid that had taken George Sullivan captive. At that point, a hovertank shot (it's not clear who it came from...Dana, Bowie, Angie, Louie, Sean, or one of the rando 15th "red shirts") hit a bioroid hoversled, which went out of control and grazed Marie's Logan Veritech, causing it to tailspin out of control. It was just one of those friendly fire things that happen in combat. Marie just needed to vent and blame somebody. Will she get over it? Stay tuned. 😉
The Dana question is kind of interesting, simply because in Macross she'd play as a really interesting foil to Lisa. Taking her as a mecha pilot with famously competent military parents, she'd be a really interesting contrast and comparison to Commander Hayes. Went field instead of command, went slightly different than her parents but still military, slightly less 'traditionally' attractive or feminine than Lisa but (a little ironically) a little more hotblooded and less rational; they'd end up an interesting paring for highlighting each other's strengths and weaknesses. Because of that I think I'd have to rate her surprisingly highly, call it somewhere in the seventh to tenth top character for me.
Have you ever seen the original opening credits? It has each of the 3 series mixed into it and it's just amazing. When watching it as a kid, you see the different characters and mechs and when you see each generation, it fits perfectly. You see Dana, and Zor, Rick, and the New Generation characters and mech. th-cam.com/video/WHfNniqT7bo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TBelYMsH26ict_hQ But back to the 15th, they are bad asses. Love these characters and Masters always gets better after rewatchs. It gets a bad rep for no reason.
I'm absolutely tickled with the praise for The Masters. The vast majority of old-school fans consistently pan the chapter whilst I find New Generation really difficult to rewatch for its episodic nature and simplistic stories. I like Dana better than most but she doesn't rank very high for me. I like Angelo, Nova, Louie, Rolf, and most of the Masters characters more. I also don't like most of the leads of Macross Saga as much as the secondary characters such as Claudia, Gloval, Breetai, Miriya, etc.

This is probably my favorite Southern Cross episode... the caper is so ridiculous, but also so much fun that I can't resist it!
Personally this is where Southern Cross gets more interesting. I find myself rewatching many more episodes on from here than I do in the first half.
Funny enough, 'Deja Vu' is one of the main themes and lyric of the original Japanese intro theme song.
Angelo was so underrated. He is a trained soldier and he manhandled those guards while taking it easy on them lol
Angelo Dante is like the young James Caan of Robotech; he was awesome in this episode.:)

13:55 - Deja Vu - the feeling I get when it comes to this part of every reaction.

Dana is my favorite Robotech character. My second favorite character is Rook from “The New Generation”. I rank them both above any Macross character.
Rand is above Rick for characters.
Louie is a favorite
A fun episode where the cavalrymen of the 15th get to play A-team.

Zor remembered more of his life before he was cloned

Who is this freshly shaved reactor?
It is the shaven member of his clone triumvirate.

This episode is the one where Southern Cross takes it’s turn from mediocre to great for me.
dude. Max sterling is the top character in ALL of macross/robotech. Full stop.
