Just figured I'd point it out to see who else spotted it. Impa knew what was going to happen. Also to think she spent thousands of years there all by herself, I can't imagine how lonely that must have been.
I found it very obvious the old woman was Impa. Look at her clothes, tear tattoo, and blond hair. When you go back in time to meet fully awakened Zelda, she mentions the old woman in the Sealed Temple helped her and the camera pans to young Impa who glances away. She knew what her future was.
@@burger_kinghorn Well no I knew the two were the same character almost immediately I meant the gesture itself is what I missed. They gave her too obvious identifying marks to hide that older Impa was the younger Impa you see in the Eldin region. When they finally showed her face and you see the teardrop tattoo marking on the same cheek as the older women I said, "Oh so she's the old lady." It's just playing the game and reading the text the first time you don't really glance at the character motions and what they are doing. At least I didn't because I didn't wanna miss any story text. Hence why I picked it up only in hero mode the second playthrough.
This fight is very easy once you know the mechanics(like pretty much every 3D Zelda) but it's such a memorable spectacle. Spectacle is something this series has always excelled at. I still to this day remember how epic the final fight with Ganon felt in Ocarina, despite the fact that the fight can be trivialized just by rolling through Ganon's legs and smacking his tail.
same here. i sorta spoiled myself in reading how to beat him, the guide saying to shoot him with light arrows. but the spectacle was memorable as you say. Ganon completely hidden in shadow, looking like you can't tell what he truly looks like, until the brief moments that lightning flashes. a detail that is lost in the 3DS version
I didn't realize you were supposed to use the lightning against Demise the first time i fought him, and it made the fight a LOT harder. Honestly, I think it made for a more epic final battle. I won by the skin of my teeth. A shattered shield and 1 heart, but I won
There's so many cool design details on demise that make him almost like sort of evil version of Link that I never noticed before. Aside from the obvious anti-master sword thing going on, things like his scales are mirrored with links chainmail, which I believe was first used in this SS, or how his hair tapers off like links hat as if it were a flaming version of it. He's incredibly respectful to those he thinks deserves it too, he talks about how the goddesses true form was magnificent compared to Zelda, and praises links bravery. Honorable too, creating a pocket dimension specifically for them to fight that's free of distractions but doesn't give himself unfair advantages in it. He wants a fair fight, and considering how he calls it links tomb its honestly a really pretty tomb all things considered. You'd expect someone like demise to make a pocket dimension that looks like something out of dark souls. Too bad he only exists for 15 minutes, would've been a cool antagonist.
The chainmail was first shown in Twilight princess, and that game implied that it was also in OOT, as Link is wearing (a graphically updated version of) the same outfit that the hero of time wore in the adult timeline of OoT.
Very similar to how you can fool Ganondorf with the fishing rod to leave him open for attacks in Twilight Princess. Guess been fooled by non lethal objects runs deep in the demon family.
@@javiervasquez8995 me personally I really hate that trend since it makes the villains seem like they can't even fight right and as a result you can't take them seriously.
Love that Demise's sword hits on Link's shield has tone shifts according to how the music is at that time. Really adds to the dramatics of this fateful battle.
@@Zerathenezot It's not the longest boss fight but easy? I don't see hoe, like whenever I would try to absorb and then deflect lightning at him he would either do his own lightning attack to hit me first or just physically attack me. @@Zerathenezot In my first playthrough 10 years ago I never discovered that you could use the lightning against Demise. I still beat him on my first try by just purely out-dueling him. Just pure swordplay. It retroactively became one of my prouder gaming moments.

They technically meet everytime he gets the master sword following the timeline bc she’s in there we just don’t see or hear her till of course botw so ocarina of time a link to the past a link between worlds twilight princess and wind waker
Except they didn't actually meet in Breath of the Wild...? All we ever "see" of Fi is her iconic sound coming out from the Master Sword to tell Zelda about how to save Link from his Guardian-inflicted wounds. At no point in any of the cutscenes in Breath of the Wild does she ever *meet* BotW Link so to say you shed tears for a character who wasn't at all in the game is been rather disingenous and ignorant of the events that took place in Breath of the Wild.
@@thehighschooldropout8218 And the Oracle games where the Farore Oracle of Secrets(who may in fact also be the human incarnation of the Golden Goddess Farore herself) uses her powers as an Oracle to teleport the Master Sword from it's pedestal all the way to the lands of Holodrum and Labrynna for Link to use in his fight against the resurrected Ganon.
@@JUMBOJVLOGS That is true but do remember that having her iconic jingle randomply showing during the one memory of Breath of the Wild for no other purpose other than a simple *reference* hardly qualifies as Fi "meeting Link in another life". Like @AnimatedMaskedBoy said it's clear that Fi's words were mostly in reference to every single instance in the timeline where Link gets to wield the Master Sword rather than a random, plot-irrelevant cutscene in the most recently released game in the series(since it's just a "memory" rather than a present time cutscene it is very much irrelevant to the main plot of the game).

@@javiervasquez8995 Nah, you could also play the Harp in the original Wii version by pressing down on the D Pad (How you’d normally bring the Harp out)
It speaks to the amazing level of talent that Nintendo employs at their company for art and aesthetic development, when you look back at games from the Wii era like Mario Galaxy and Skyward sword and see just how AMAZING the visuals are with a simple HD upscale to them. These games feel right at home in the HD generation, when the hardware they were originally made for was barely stronger than a Gamecube. Just top tier stuff from their studio talent!
There’s a reason people surprisingly enjoyed this boss despite many not liking the rest of the game That reason being this boss was a true test of skill, but also that Demise wasn’t a shit talking douche like so many other villains, he’s pretty respectful, he’s genuinely impressed by Link’s courage and skill Even ending the fight with “Extraordinary, you stand as a paragon of your kind human”

Ohhh man I just realized Fi and Ghirahim are both living weapons. So Fi is the master sword that mean Ghirihim is the Calamity sword. I mean the both blade have similarity. They both are one handed sword, have wings, master sword have hyrule mark and the the other one have Lorule mark. Can shoot out enery slashes. And yes i call demise sword the the calamity sword. It's sound like a perfect name for it
5:47 Does this mean that Demise wasn't at full strength when he was beaten? If that's the case it makes me wonder how powerful he actually is. I hope this is another question addressed in BoTW2
Well Ganon has reached power that is just as if not stronger than Demise especially since since we do know that Hylia beat Demise in a 1v1 fight with him meanwhile Ganon has used the power of the golden goddess who are implied to be stronger than both Hylia and Demise. However I would that Demise is stronger than Majora but that's probably because Majora is a glass cannon. Also the only way Demise's full strength could ever be addressed again is either 1. In a prequel to Skyward Sword, or DLC for this remake of Skyward Sword.

I just beat skyward sword and watching this makes me realize that I did it the hard way but parrying his three sword strikes then hitting him once in his second phase not knowing I could use the skyward strike
What I find to be crazy about Demise's demeanor in the finale, is the sort of idea that he knew all along that whether or not he won, this was the beginning of the Triforce being bound. Demise's sheer existence due to Ghirahim's actions was a testament of fate. So when he saw link, the part of him that contained memories from Lorule came back, and he immediately knew he was in the presence of the Hylian Triforce, thus binding him to Link and Zelda by fate...forever
Chronologically this is the first game, meaning Demise didn’t “know” anything about being bound, he was the one that created the curse that reincarnates him and Link in the first place
I just realized something if Ghirahim has the red gem (Power) on his chest, and Fi with the blue gem (Wisdom) wouldn’t there be a green gem for courage?
i dont think that Fi represent 1 of the tri forcr Here the explanation: Her colour blue are the tears from the Home from link. 10:40 What would have made this better is if Demise just started wailing on you with your sword firmly planted in the ground. He would get you down to your last heart and you would have to beat him on a quarter of a heart.
This is a cutscene that really would be elevated with voice acting, like the type of stuff Ganonforf was spouting in Totk was incredible with the VA of Matt Mercer.

When they finally showed her face and you see the teardrop tattoo marking on the same cheek as the older women I said, "Oh so she's the old lady."
It's just playing the game and reading the text the first time you don't really glance at the character motions and what they are doing. At least I didn't because I didn't wanna miss any story text. Hence why I picked it up only in hero mode the second playthrough.
Sheikas are known to be monks, so meditating should not be much of a problem
Ah yes… “Link Vs. Akuma”…
Devil right
I thought the same lol haha
I was thinking the same thing
Uh actually it’s akumandorf
No wonder Kazuya threw Ganondorf off a cliff
What's funny is that you can use the Bug-Catching Net to reflect Demise's lightning attacks back at him.
I cry everytime with this wholesome ending.
Love that Demise's sword hits on Link's shield has tone shifts according to how the music is at that time. Really adds to the dramatics of this fateful battle.
I like how quickly he defeats Demise when I usually like to take my time cause this boss fight isn’t as long but still love it nonetheless🙏
Sadly he was always easy. I used to refuse to use the lightning in the fight just to make it a challenge
@@Zerathenezot It's not the longest boss fight but easy? I don't see hoe, like whenever I would try to absorb and then deflect lightning at him he would either do his own lightning attack to hit me first or just physically attack me.
It's not like I wasn't experienced at fighting Zelda bosses either, it's just that Demise was tough, the easiest final boss would probably be Wind Waker's honestly.
@@Zerathenezot In my first playthrough 10 years ago I never discovered that you could use the lightning against Demise. I still beat him on my first try by just purely out-dueling him. Just pure swordplay. It retroactively became one of my prouder gaming moments.
@@Zerathenezot Once you become good at the sword combat in the game he becomes easy. But most people have trouble with him their first playthrough (if they don’t look up how to beat him online of course)
@@brycepuck243 I only just beat this for the first time in the HD version. I was watching Demise catch the lighting with his sword and was going "hmm, is the game trying to teach me something?". @@thehighschooldropout8218 u can even tell in botw in the memory where zelda saves link u can hear fi’s jingle in the sword when hes semi conscious

I on God made fun of the player for not having it, only for the player to show me the CLEANEST fight between him and demise I’ve ever seen. God damn.
Personally I could never get the Hylian shield. I kept messing up on the boss run and made it pretty much impossible to get the shield because I kept beating my own record times and then dying.

There is a theory that Demise came from Lorule. The Lorulean Triforce is upside down and its symbol is engraved in his sword. Because there was no Lorulean Triforce, he invaded the Surface in order to get the Triforce from there.
Fun fact: you can play the harp over the credits music with the right joy con :)

Why wouldn't he? He only took the sword out so it's still on his back
It speaks to the amazing level of talent that Nintendo employs at their company for art and aesthetic development, when you look back at games from the Wii era like Mario Galaxy and Skyward sword and see just how AMAZING the visuals are with a simple HD upscale to them. These games feel right at home in the HD generation, when the hardware they were originally made for was barely stronger than a Gamecube. Just top tier stuff from their studio talent!

this bossfight gives me shivers every time is so fucking good
There’s a reason people surprisingly enjoyed this boss despite many not liking the rest of the game
That reason being this boss was a true test of skill, but also that Demise wasn’t a shit talking douche like so many other villains, he’s pretty respectful, he’s genuinely impressed by Link’s courage and skill
Even ending the fight with “Extraordinary, you stand as a paragon of your kind human”
I love how randomly polite Demise is around the 10:45 mark 😂
Just patiently waits 2 seconds for Link to get his sword unstuck
as soon as 23:33 hit, I remember being a little kid and having the feeling that a long journey was over. I felt like a hero. Ever so inspired by these games and the previous, especially wind weaker and twilight princess

32:00 Link has that “Geez, woman. What are you about to put me through now?” look.
The music switch at 10:02 always gives me chills, when this goes from a generic swordfight to an epic duel straight out of Highlander.
It may not be as grandiose as…twilight princess for example, but this fight holds a special place in might heart. Such a cool arena, and I like that he’s able to use the skyward strike too!
Side note: Maybe I’m just weird, but the sound effect that plays whenever you land a hit, specifically a spin attack, was always satisfying to my ears. Made me use them more often lol!
You literally made that fight seem so easy, it took my brother a bunch of tries (This was back when it was still on the Wii) God help me when I play it on the Switch
I’m at the final boss now my god on like 7th attempt he’s a complete arsehole I’ve been raging! 😂
This HD remake is beautiful 😭
Ohhh man I just realized Fi and Ghirahim are both living weapons. So Fi is the master sword that mean Ghirihim is the Calamity sword. I mean the both blade have similarity. They both are one handed sword, have wings, master sword have hyrule mark and the the other one have Lorule mark. Can shoot out enery slashes. And yes i call demise sword the the calamity sword. It's sound like a perfect name for it
Damn, the added HDness to the second half and the lightning really amps up the thematics of this fight.
It's silly how serious and intense his appearance was conceived given the goofy likenesses of every other person in the game
5:47
Does this mean that Demise wasn't at full strength when he was beaten? If that's the case it makes me wonder how powerful he actually is. I hope this is another question addressed in BoTW2
Isn't botw set more ahead in the future of alot of games in the timeline??
Well Ganon has reached power that is just as if not stronger than Demise especially since since we do know that Hylia beat Demise in a 1v1 fight with him meanwhile Ganon has used the power of the golden goddess who are implied to be stronger than both Hylia and Demise. However I would that Demise is stronger than Majora but that's probably because Majora is a glass cannon.
Also the only way Demise's full strength could ever be addressed again is either
1. In a prequel to Skyward Sword, or DLC for this remake of Skyward Sword.
@@chadpeterson5698 "His residual consciousness has been absorbed into the Master Sword and is now sealed away."

You are the best Skyward Sword player on TH-cam! I am quite impressed.
I just beat skyward sword and watching this makes me realize that I did it the hard way but parrying his three sword strikes then hitting him once in his second phase not knowing I could use the skyward strike
What about you, Link?
What will you do now?
Link: Charge my joy cons up
What I find to be crazy about Demise's demeanor in the finale, is the sort of idea that he knew all along that whether or not he won, this was the beginning of the Triforce being bound. Demise's sheer existence due to Ghirahim's actions was a testament of fate. So when he saw link, the part of him that contained memories from Lorule came back, and he immediately knew he was in the presence of the Hylian Triforce, thus binding him to Link and Zelda by fate...forever
Lorule? What in earth are you on about.....the is the 1st game in the timeline
Chronologically this is the first game, meaning Demise didn’t “know” anything about being bound, he was the one that created the curse that reincarnates him and Link in the first place
I couldn’t beat demise because my skyward strike would never work so I am so glad that this video exists so i can see the end of this super fun game

I just realized something if Ghirahim has the red gem (Power) on his chest, and Fi with the blue gem (Wisdom) wouldn’t there be a green gem for courage?
😳botw 2?
i dont think that Fi represent 1 of the tri forcr
Here the explanation:
Her colour blue are the tears from the Home from link.
But the 3 Symbols what a connected with the tri force are the 3 Levels below the Clouds
the colour are
Green for the forest
Red for eldin
And yellow for the Sand
So it exist a Green and yellow gem maybe IT exist 4 swords .
