I dont really see deep research as a competitor to o1 or other reasoning models. Its actually quite unique: Deep research is more of a researcher agent that develops a research plan followed by a deep search of the web and then summarizes its findings in an assay type piece of writing. O1 on the other hand does not have web access and does not go off and do a deep research task for you on the web.
