@@Myksgarage 4 weeks after seeing your video, and now I have my first Diesel truck. 2024 Sierra 1500 AT4. Tomorrow will mark 1wk of ownership. Now I have to find a fuel station that sales DEF at the pump.

I have a couple 3500 silverados. The truck stop def isn’t cheaper in the long run. Full tank of DEF from truck stop last about 800 miles.
Blue DEF last me about 1600 miles
Blue def platinum last me about 2200 miles. Not only that the truck stop def dropped my mpgs and the platinum helped my mpgs. So yes cheaper at the pump but more expensive in the pocket. You’ll be buying more def and fuel use it from the truck stop. I’m a hot shot driver so I put in a lot of miles and researched all the def out there. Hands down to the blue def platinum

I am still not sure if buying from truck stop vs buying box which is better. Box gotta watch dates. Truck stop certainty more fresh but is it clean top quality. I gotta believe truck stop def like gas must be tested & is good. Price might be cheaper at truck stop vs store jugs

I just bought a 2023 Chevy Tahoe with Duramax and just searching the internet on filling the D.E.F. tank with bottles vs at dispenser.

As a semi truck owner I can 110% tell you def at the pump IS NOT the way to go.. I have got bad def so many times from the pump and the only way to know unless you test it is by your truck telling you aka nox efficiency codes which will put you on the side of the road quick.

Just like buying fuel, as clean as the quality of the fuel station,.
When you get your DEF out of the ground it is new stuff put together with old stuff as it is replaced you don't know how old it is because it is mixed, on the other hand when you buy the box it is dated and you know how old it is.

Well depends on how busy the gas station you go to, I always get my diesel and def at speedway by my house, it is very busy truck stop , they wouldn't risk their business with bad fuel or def to make one of the truck driver unhappy, he will make sure every semi driver know not go there, so I am confident to say use good truck stop and you will be fine with clean fuel and def.

You should only but DEF from the box to ensure good quality DEF.
Interesting opinion
Most guys will tell you the only thing that matters is that it’s not expired, as the urea % can change. Pump at a truck stop should be good. Unless you’ve got the tool to test % you won’t know until your truck tells you if you get bad def. I’ve heard lots of complaints on the platinum causing problems.
How many miles do you get on a fill with DEF
5-6k miles, less if you're towing a lot

That sounds vehicle dependent. Others have reported "limp mode" and no subsequent starting.
you do realize that when the def is filled at the pump by delivery trucks, you dont really know how much of the old stuff in the tank is being mixed with the new stuff in the delivery truck? better to by the jugs and examine the product date on the box for the freshest stuff.
True, however this truck stops go through some much of this DEF that I’m confident it’s not an issue.
But with that, you do realize as well that when you buy DEF in the jug, you have NO clue on how it was stored before it got to the store shelf. Both have drawbacks
@@Myksgarage agree. But like I stated in earlier post. Be mindful of the pump condition at truck stop. Make sure hose it stored as intended and nozzle door is closed from previous user. If not, move to another pump.

But...yes, truck stop is probably the freshest DEF since it's used daily by big rigs. Its all regulated to be made the same regardless of the brand. But truck stop DEF is more at risk for crystallization because of fluid left in the pump hose from previous fills. DEF crystallizes from age, poorly storage and rapidly from exposure to the atmosphere.
Not saying don't use Truck stop DEF, it's most certainly cheaper. But make sure the hose and nozzle was stored properly from the previous use. That means hose rolled up, door sealed etc... You definitely don't want to risk pumping crystallized fluid in your tank just to save a couple of buck when you fill up.

I’m an owner operator. Trust me DO NOT BUY DEF FROM THE PUMP ITS DILUTED. Poor Quality etc. Only buy DEF from the box
