Great Video! I bought my VBM Domobar Super Lever in 2004 and still going strong. Been servicing it regularly and going really well. Currently need to get a new pressurestat as it is playing up. I am not a big fan of the digital ones, I am an electrical engineer and understand the technology side but prefer the simplicity of mechanical process. When it decides to give up on me I will be looking for a rotary pump machine and maybe go a bit more high tech with PID controller.
Thank you for your review of this machine. I am in the market for a new espresso machine and always thought that I had to have a double boiler. Your comments and demonstration have caused me to rethink my position. Nice little machine. I will have to see if it is available in the US.
Thanks for the video. Which tamper will you recommand with the VBM' portafilter ? What do you think about the Espresso Level Tamper Coffee Palm Tamper of Joe Frex ?
Thanks for your incredible videos. I have one question. Can you fit a cappuccino cup plus a Felicitta scale underneath that portal filter? . It seems really narrow. Thanks
Hi Joshua - thanks for the great review. Can you tell us a bit more about the PID controller for temp in HX vs boiler vs boiler bar pressure? If I set the boiler temperature to 125 degrees, can I make the display show the HX brew temp so I can bring it down to 93 or 94 degrees during my cooling flush of the group head?
Yes you can ... So set the either the brew temp or the Steam temp/pressure to what you prefer, then go in to the Brew temp and select it as is without changing anything - and this should than display the current brew temp - remembering that the temperature reading is within the boiler and not from the grouphead... so it's not an exact reading but an estimate from the off-set of the boiler to the grouphead ... you can get a Thermometer to go in to the grouphead as an additional, in order to get an exact reading : alternativebrewing.com.au/products/coffee-sensor-e61-grouphead-thermometer These work great - and will help with a better understanding of the machine's perfect flushing routine to get more consistent brew temps.
If for a small cafe of 70 cups - I'd at least go the Super yes. But just be aware these machines are not built for 10+ cups back to back. So is it 70 across the whole day... or a large number in a short amount of time. If it's yes the the latter - you'll need a commercial machine.
@@AlternativeBrewing i see.. i get what you mean it. because usually twice a month on weekend i join a bazaar 10am-10pm. Roughtly around 50-70 the whole day not back to back. On my list Profitec 400/Musica and VBM Junior.

I love the design of this machine but not having a manometer is a concern. How would a home user know the machine is running at correct pressure?
Thank you for this highly informative review of the new Domobar Junior. I ordered one of these today, partly thanks to this review.
Glad it was helpful!

I have the old version of this machine, it's awesome. I would recommend
I have v4 older model and believe it's even more solidly built than this beautiful machine. Mine is a tank.

I love it ! These work great 👌

Thanks! I would say no - I'm not sure - but it is one of the lower groups.
Is there a review of the VBM Domobar digital? Very similar machine but without the dedicated water nozzle.
There is not sorry, no.
I am looking at getting this to replace my BES920BSS which is now 4 years old. Would this one be reasonable for replacement?
Step up! 👌

I have the manual version,I want to ask why the pump stop spontaneously after 64 seconds in prophile mode ?
It may be due to a limit on the pump activation. I'm not 100% sure - but I do know some pumps have a maximum of 1 minute run time.
IT'S SUITABLE FOR SMALL CAFE? 70CUPS PER DAY? WHICH ONE YOU PREFER FOR SMALL CAFE? JUNIOR OR SUPER? THANK U

Can it be plumbed into a filtered water source.
Hi there, reckon it would fit an Acaia Lunar scale underneath it?
Yes for sure
Does the machine require a long cooling flush between shots?
Yes, perhaps not a long one, but as they are a HX machine, it's best to allow some water out first
Is this available in the US?
How long it takes to warm up in the morning?
10-15 minutes no more
Whats the portafilter size on this machine, 58mm?
Yes it is 😀
